Why Clinton Stands to Lose Millions
msn ^ | May 8, 2008 | Bret Schulte

With rounds to fight running out, the self-described Rocky Balboa of politics will soon be forced to assess the damage sustained by the most expensive primary bout in history. Sen. Hillary Clinton doled out $6.4 million of her own money to her campaign since April, her campaign told reporters this week. That brings her total cash outlay to more than $11 million since January. . . .

Experts disagree on whether or not Clinton will actually stick in the fight until the Democratic National Convention in August. But the date looms large for another reason—at least, if she hopes to recoup any of the millions she has sunk into the campaign. Thanks to a little-known provision in 2002's McCain-Feingold campaign-finance reform bill, a campaign must repay the loan to a candidate before Election Day. In this case, that's the nominating convention. After the election has passed, a bankrupt campaign is limited to gathering just $250,000 from contributors, which means that modest sum is all it can give back to a candidate. In short, Clinton stands to lose $11,150,000. "If she wants to be repaid, she'd have to move on that between now and the national convention," says former Federal Election Commission chairman Michael Toner. "Otherwise, it just becomes another contribution." The campaign, meanwhile, has other debts to consider as well. According to her latest FEC filing, the Hillary Clinton for President campaign committee owes millions to vendors, including more than $4.5 million to Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, the consulting firm of her former chief strategist Mark Penn.

That adds another wrinkle to her decision to stay in the race. Time is running out to pay off friends, allies, and vendors.

She could easily cover that plus clear a dump truck full of cash by spilling the beans on Bill in a forthcoming book!

Well I’m not going to be holding any bake sales for her if she doesn’t get her money back. She’s got plenty left.

How much did RINO Mitt "dole out"?

Spilling the beans on Bill???

Bill does what Hitlery tells him to do. Spilling the beans would only expose the orders he received from her.

Don’t forget that when it’s all over, she’s still taking bribes as a U.S. Senator. The industry will pay up!

Wouldn’t that be the book of this and the last centuries?
She comes clean on the FBI files, Foster, and the other hundreds of hidden scandals surrounding those two.
That is the only book about the clintons I would buy.

These two grifters will have no money problems for the rest of their lives, unlike the hard working white people like you and me. And all their current expenses (other than the losing campaign) are paid for by others, including the hard working white people like you and me, the taxpayers. If anything, Brbra, Spielberg and Penn will chip in a million each. No problem.

Clinton stands to lose $11,150,000...

All that for a 400K per year job that makes one’s hair gray.

Disbarred?
Has she ever practiced law?
She would make so much money on her tell all she could do whatever she wanted without bill.
He would have to come out with his tell all then.
What a couple of trailer trash scum.

How much did RINO Mitt "dole out"?

From later on in the article:

Indeed, U.S. News has learned that multimillionaire former Gov. Mitt Romney, who poured $35 million into his own campaign, isn't even attempting to fundraise to get his money back. He is simply giving it up. "Governor Romney has no plans either now or in the future to raise money so that he can retire his debt," spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said in a statement.

One with substantial hopes of being repaid with a different type of reward.

Money never really flows FROM clintons. They are thieves and users.

This thing where Herself, the Vile and Grasping, is “loaning” money to her campaign has been well planned, believe me.

These people NEVER pay for anything.

The Clinton's entire existence is about one thing: POWER!

Money is just a tool used in the acquisition of power. When you have power you can always get more money. Hillary would spend her entire net worth if she thought it would get her the presidency.

As rich as Hillary and Bill claim to be....I have some doubts that its real “wealth”. There are idiots who run around with various investments, that their special friends advise them to get into...and its really a sink-hole for rich folks to fall into. I worked with a guy who was worth almost a million (not even counting the house), and some friend introduced him to a investment guru...who convinced him to dump a third of his fortune into a high-risk-high-return item. The $300k turned into $100k within twelve months. On paper, he still had umpteen shares of a certain stock and had dreams of a recover...it just wasn’t going to happen. Hillary could be in the same boat, with a bit less of a fortune.

Lucky for them the Bush tax cuts helped them keep a few more of their millions, she obviously needs the money ;-). Who would have thought a year ago that hillary would be where she is today, none of the experts did.

Bullclinton! That money was laundered from somewhere. Probably sold some more secrets to the Chinese. The Grifters never use their own money.

At a minimum, as the article points out, they were able to circumvent fundraising limits by having Flubba raise the dough in “speaking fees.”

BTW, I think his going rate just went down quite a bit!

Probably the one thing she hates more than losing this race is losing her money.

I’m wondering if she’s aware of this little provision in McCain-Feingold. There’s no way she’s going to raise enough by August to pay herself back. Well, without funny business.
