If I were McCain I would do this: I would casually refer to the “57 states” and watch the media pick it up while they ignore Obama saying the same thing. Then I would call a press conference and denounce the media for being biased.

Just imagine if John McCain had said this....Leno and Letterman would have a week’s worth of monologues about his “senior moment,” and it probably would have made the cover of Newsweak.

Obama overstated Kansas death toll.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Barack Obama, caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech Tuesday, drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died.
The death toll was 12.

I have to believe that the Kennedy cartel was instrumental in promoting this Obama candidacy - waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back - to divert support from the Clintoons.

Obama’s success has probably stunned all of the backroom boys in the Dem Party. Perhaps they really are supporting John McCain against Clinton and this was part of the scenario - remove the Clinton base - blacks & unions.

Nothing much makes sense - why Teddy came out for Obama before Obama.....very strange!

I have to get some more Reynolds Wrap - BBL

If he had ever examined an American flag, he might have discovered that there are 50 stars...and if he had asked someone, could have found out that the number of stars corresponds to the number of states. But he’s not into excessive displays of patriotism.

He clearly meant 47 (he talks about “one more to go” not counting Alaska and Hawaii). I wish people would stop trying to “Dan Quayle” people for simple slips of the tongue like this. I don’t like Obama and won’t vote for him but jumping on this mistake is silly.

If he wants to send an airstike somewhere and accidentally says nuclear instead of conventional and that will be written off as a “Dan Quayle” moment?

We don’t need a stupid idiot puppet in office and defending him is supporting him.

Good old Terezzzza. It’s times like this that almost make me miss her.

I saw shots of her lurching about on stage during a recent photo op w/ her new bff, Michele Obama. I’m not sure Mzzz. Heinz-Kerry knew where she was but it’s hard to know that sort of thing after a triple-helping of gin soaked raisins laced with Haldol. (And yes, I am a retired professional in that field. From that field. Out of that field. Something.)

My all-time fave quote of hers sprang forth during an interview she gave to an clearly stupified reporter in Arizona. He or she had asked Terezz if she was worried about her husband’s poll numbers there. To which Terri quickly retorted, “Oh, no. A state isn’t an entire state in the United States.”

I’m still mulling that one over. I’ll bet that reporter is too.

It's true this is just a trivial slip of the tongue, but it's also true that the media is relentless in ridiculing any Republican who does that sort of thing.

GWB's question "Is our children learning?" has been quoted endlessly by liberals (and was used as the title of a book, I think)...my guess is that he simply switched sentence constructions in mid-sentence which caused it to come out ungrammatical. (If done deliberately in literature, to convey the feel of real-life conversation, that's called anacoluthon.)

47 was the number of states when John McCain's mother (now 96) was born--she was born 7 days before Arizona became a state.
