Just announced on WABC radio on the Larry Kudlow show by Jimmy Pettatukis--US News and a blogger, (SP) that McCain is all but a lock for VP. INfo comes from his fund raising sources. Kudlow is using the info as "breaking news" on his show which just eneded at 1:00 Pm Eastern.

Waving the pro-life bloody shirt is not a viable strategy this year.
I doubt that this rumor is true!!
I don’t care who he picks, he won’t get my vote.
I can’t stand the huckster he’s just that a big huge blowhard.
Nope. Not going to be Hucky.
Huckabee? You have got to be kidding me.
Not surprising that he'd pick himself.
I guess if he can pick himself for both legs of the ticket, that is breaking news. :-)
A silly choice. It gains McCain no electoral votes, no money, and repels more Republicans than it draws in.
“Kudlow had a caller that stated that many many conservatives are sick of how McCain and the huckster worked together to prevent Mitt from a win keeping him completly out of the game as the Huckster stayed in just as a spoiler.”
I doubted the stalking horse theory...
Until Huckabee’s Cayman Islands caper. Payoff?
Also remember that McCain is another Nancy Pelosi when it comes to solving our energy problems.
McAmnesty revealed that he REFUSES to drill ANWR on his interview with O'Reilly.
For Pete's Sakes, it is just a slab of ice!!!!!!!! Why can't we drill there?????
Ironically, the more McCain gets blasted and looks bad to conservatives the more appeal he has to all four conservative libs and the squishy middle.
In essence we can't lose.
It wll be Mitt. I have inside information from my wife. She knows everything.
Where did that come from - Dick Morris?
Pawlenty makes a lot more sense politically.
Sorry, but mccain has no use for him.
I certainly could be wrong, but Huck is wrong on so many levels, it is hard to keep a straight face hearing this.
The two WORST candidates together. I’m not surprised.
Uh....Hunter endorsed Huckabee. So you support Hunter except when he does stupid things? Me too.
Maybe McCain has other plans for Vice President, hmmm.
hey boss...out and about huh
November 4, 2008, is a scary date.
Bingo. McCain/Fox 2008.
Yup, it almost guarantees a dem win in november. But, I would not put it past Queeg to do something that stupid....after all he wants to go on a climate change tour of all things....this election is absolute torture!
“Has he done things I don’t like? Absolutely. But so has my mother.”
— George Anich
Well, I don’t like either of them, but from McCain’s standpoint I think its a pretty good fit. While those of us in the know are aware that Huckabee is a liberal, most think he’s a conservative, and he might be good at pinning down part of the base.
I don’t know what I would do if McCain picks Huckabee. Huckabee has proven that he is deceitful by the way he allowed himself to be used by McCain to knock out the other contenders for the nomination. I will be just so upset that I will probably give up.
Right. Which is why I’m voting against Obama and Hitlery in the general and voted for the conservatives downticket in my primary.
At least McCain won’t cut and run from the WOT like Reagan did.
Once again hope you are right.
Oh, my goodness, donna! Vincente has a home in Texas....nothing would surprise me.
Maybe McCain is going to try the ‘inclusive’ thing and pick a woman for VP. He keeps giving contributions to Olympia Snowe, another RINO.
3/08 SNOWE FOR SENATE PORTLAND, ME $1,986 contributed by McCain campaign.
Mitt Romney makes a lot of sense politically. There’s also Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. She doesn’t offer a whole lot politically, but she is conservative, young (40’s), and plus has a son in the U.S. Army Infantry; McCain also has at least two sons in the military, one of whom just returned from Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps. Then, at least, you definitely couldn’t have liberals saying our leaders don’t have their children serving in wars that they support.
Exactly what’s wrong with Mitt or Fred or Duncan or somebody good!
If McCain picks a true conservative, I’ll vote for him in November.
If he picks another RINO, I’ll leave the top of the ballot blank.
If he picks Huckabee, I’ll vote for Obama.
Two peas...
I am still hoping it’s wrong.
Anyone know this guy from US News that is Kudlow’s source?
If he wants to win in November he should pick a conservative instead.
If McCain picks the Huckster he’s finished.
“Exactly whats wrong with Mitt or Fred or Duncan or somebody good!”
They’re not part of the Kennedy wing of the the GOP?
If McCain picks Huckabee then I will not vote for him. A third party is the only option in that case. I’d vote for Ron Paul first. I think this story is phoney. McCain needs to focus on fiscal responsibility and tone down the silly Climate change crap. It doesn’t win him votes. No polls show that it does so why make it a big deal? It is horrible marketing. I didn’t want Mitt to win. He is worse than both of the others. His Mitt-care plan has even further bankrupted Massachusetts. If Mitt wanted to be President he needed to run against John Kerry and win and then prove his conservative credentials.
We had real conservatives in the race but they weren’t flashy or chiseled enough. They didn’t offer Universal Health care and program for every ill. So now we have McCain, not as conservative as we would like but not as liberal as we could’ve gotten. I’ll vote for McCain provided he doesn’t piss me off too much on his way to the White House. I can live with him but the idea of having to not only support him but then support either Huckabee or Mitt would just be too much. I can’t do it. Liberal bastions are failing nationwide, budgets are crumbling, better to let the pain teach America a lesson for supporting liberal ideas. We tried a transplate technique in California and it failed.
McCain should just choose someone who is nonoffensive and presidential. I’d like a superstar to make me feel like working the polls and going door to door for him but McCain isn’t likely to choose anyone who would eclipse him. There are plenty of solid conservatives who would give him credibility but I’m not sure he wants credibility. He may wish to walk the tightrope in hopes of benefiting from the fracturing of the left. The decision we have to make is do we trust him and that is the really hard part with McCain.
He has betrayed us when it came to the point of demarcation so many times. He has instead of standing with us he chose to split the difference.
How many times will we have to bear the burden of his compliments and adulation for Hillary or Obama? How many times will we have to listen to him praise Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy? It is one thing to be polite but he has a habit of going a few steps beyond that and that is what rubs me raw. That is why I did not want his kind of politician elected. I did not want the phoney baloney dance of the political fairy. I just wanted a straight talker but that was too much. It seems straight talk is considered lazy in this day and age. We will have to see how effectively McCain is at talking out of both sides of his mouth. That will determine whether he makes it to his coronation day or not.
He might not be the Manchurian Candidate but at least on several occasions he has appeared as if medicated. Previously Lieberman had to whisper answers to him. The other day at Wake Forest in NC he became confused and thought he was in West Virginia.
I’m with you. I held my nose and voted for Dole in 96 and made a pledge to myself then that I would never do that again.
I am also going to change my moniker. Why? I am a conservative, not a republican. Claiming to be a Republican signifies allegiance to a political party. Being a conservative denotes a commitment to a self-evident, truth-based philosophy and disciplined lifestyle.
A conservative believes in and fights for limited government and individual rights to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Conservatives are independent, rugged individuals who believe the “American Dream” is achieved through hard work, sacrifice and an unrelenting commitment to excellence. We detest able-bodied people who live off the sweat equity of others by refusing to be equal to those who try harder.
And, he buys into the DBM undertone/BS that we conservatives are so hard/harsh and ought to be a little more humane like the piglosi crowd! Libs and the Europeans are always just a little bit better than us don'tcha just know.
Huckabee would be a really stupid move strategically. As others have noted, it would send the indies toward Obama...and have the double slam of being someone who isn’t clearly a staunch conservative. Same with Romney.
McCain has to go off the board IMO and pick someone like Thune.
Kudlow on his weekly radio show on WABC(yeah it does sound like Morris doesn’t it)
