Duke already settled the lawsuit the three filed against the university. I’m sure Duke felt it.
I’m not sure of the status of the rest of the players’ suit against the university. Perhaps abb can give us a quick update.
Basketball was invented for the purpose of having a game to play when the weather is bad outside.
I don't know about the north, but in small town Texas, the kids go from football to basketball (football is king, so the schools in the football playoffs cancel their basketball games as long as football season is going on), and you play basketball until the spring sports, which are track, weightlifting and baseball. There just isn't really room for another outside sport on the schedule, particularly one that is equipment intensive.
Lacrosse doesn't have a great name. If it was called Whack! or something, a lot of guys would go out for it.
Around here, Spring sports are baseball, soccer, and lacrosse.
Lacrosse has only been recognized by Georgia High School Sports Association for the last seven or so years, and has really taken off. Dartmouth and Notre Dame played a game down here this year.
I saw all of it. :(
Just about the entire team has sued Duke, the City of Durham, and the District Attorney. There are three separate lawsuits. Here’s the site for just one of them.
Send one to Brod Dickhead.
And here are the other lawsuits.

In the tournament game, he scored. And again. And again.
Each time there was the same reaction: Hearty ovation from Duke fans.
Bless 'em
Fantastic story & pic to go with it. Hope things are going as well for Dave & Reade.
Thanks for posting this.
Thanks so much for this piece of sweet news. May Colin continue enjoying life....away from the Duke president and faculty.
Hey there were a few even here that supported Nifong in the beginning.
Ah, to be back in college. I’m salivating in my coffee.
I played lacrosse in HS and college. Where I live now in Oregon they just started to play. It has really taken off and is getting allot of attention. A good lacrosse game is great entertainment.
I loved playing in college. It was new in the northwest only a club league existed. Home team supplied the keg for after the game. Always a good time.
Thanks, abb.
quadrant, see posts 26 & 28.
Thanks for posting that, abb.
Not sure why, but that picture of Colin in his green jersey surrounded by his former teammates brings tears to my eyes.
Freda Black? If she won the Rat primary, she’s in. Voting in the Republican primary here in Durham County is basically pointless; due to the racial makeup of the area, and having Duke right smack in the middle of town, the Democrats own this place.
I live here, and I do not exaggerate when I say that if Michael Nifong’s name was on that Democratic primary ballot last week, he would’ve gotten about 35% of the vote. He might have stood a chance at winning it. There is a LARGE number of people in this town who still believe Crazy Crystal (or at least that “something” happened at that party) and think the “Duke Boys” got away with crimes because they were white and privileged.
This can be a very toxic place sometimes, and it’s a shame, because Durham really has the potential to be a fantastic town. You’ve got some of the best universities in the country, a massive high-tech fountain of jobs right next door (Research Triangle Park, where I sit writing this), good weather, good people, pretty country...and despite all of it, the city of Durham proper is a drug-infested crime-riddled craphole. The folks who run the craphole bear a great deal of that responsibility.

Tracey Cline won the Dem primary.
