WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush on Monday warned Iran and Syria that the international community would not allow Lebanon to fall under foreign domination through their proxies again.
"I strongly condemn Hezbollah's recent efforts, and those of their foreign sponsors in Tehran and Damascus, to use violence and intimidation to bend the government and people of Lebanon to their will," Bush said in a statement.
"The international community will not allow the Iranian and Syrian regimes, via their proxies, to return Lebanon to foreign domination and control," he said.

Did he get a pair as a wedding gift this last weekend? If so, please use them!!
He won’t? Really? What’s he going to do? He had 7 years to build up the military to really fight the GWOT and he failed miserably. Sure, Iraq and Afganistan are holding, but we’re throwing Israel and Serbia to the wolves. But, hey, we’ve got prescription drugs for seniors—so all is well, right?
I doubt it, he’s “all hat and no cattle” it’s a shame.
So now GW Bush is speaking for "the international community". Who'd'a guessed.
I doubt it, he’s “all hat and no cattle” it’s a shame.
So far the Bitcons on this thread are barf inducing. W will react to the current countermeasure in a proper manner that will relieve the situation.
He is a Texan and has lots of cattle in both the literal and metaphorical sense.
Israel should be sold bunker buster bombs and tech.
I interpreted the Pres remarks to mean just that. The international community in this case consists exactly of Israel with US financial assistance.
And nothing else.
France may be involved more than you think.
Who is he kidding???? It already happened....The world is full of puzzies and we are going to pay dearly for this inaction...
And we shouldn’t ignore the other accomplishment of the Bush administration... a heavily devalued currency and absolutely no logical or valuable energy policy (except to the agriculture and oil industry, particularly Arab and Muslim interests).
What they really want is cluster bombs. We denied their request for such in the last war.
Who the hell let all the DNC operatives onto this thread????
In American 2008, it’s the critic who counts!
I wouldn’t be so quick to Jump on GWB for not dealing with Iran / Syria / Hebollah militarily yet.
Consider the BIG picture from his perspective and the balance needed to juggle it all.
Outside of the relatively small attacks being brought against our troops in Iraq, Iran is still not at the critical stage where action is necessary. It’s getting closer by the day, but they’re not there yet.
A pre-emptive attack on Iran like Iraq would NEVER go over again with pretty much the whole world minus Israel.
GWB is also trying to keep the economy afloat.
Imagine what would happen to oil prices and all that goes with it should war breakout with Iran? Surely they’d compromise the Straights of Hormuz and the oil shipping lanes. The Middle East as a whole would be in turmoil.
Patience is a virtue, and I suggest GWB is waiting for the right time and the reason to justify it to the world as the global economic impact would be felt by all at his actions.
Quite the shame how weak we have become.
Patience may be a virtue, but he only has 8 months left in office. If a Democrat is elected, it is very doubtful they will do anything but appease. I am not hopeful here.
Gee, I can just see Teddy Roosevelt saying the same thing./s
Nope. Another hollow threat.
They'd be in China by the end of the decade.
