In grim times, a bitter Hillary clings to bitter voters who in grim times supposedly cling to guns, religion and antipathy to people who arent like them.
Mining that antipathy, the New York senator has been working hard to get the hard-working white voters of hardscrabble Appalachia so she can show that a black man cant yet be elected president.
Obama breezed through West Virginia, the state he couldnt charm even wearing a flag pin and promising to invest in clean coal. Fast Barry shot some pool Monday afternoon at Schultzies Billiards in South Charleston, including prophetically sinking an eight-ball in the pocket, and then fled from Hillary territory to pursue white, blue-collar workers in battleground states and convince them not to vote for John McBush.
Obama is acting the diffident debutante, pretending not to care that he was given a raspberry by a state he will need in the fall. He was dismissed not only by the voters Hillary usually gets, but was also edged out in blocs that usually prefer him the under-30 set, college graduates and affluent voters.
Interviews with West Virginians leaving the polls showed some profound weaknesses that could haunt the Illinois senator in the fall. More than half said they would be dissatisfied if Obama was the nominee. Half believe he shares the views of the Rev. Wright, and more than half said he does not share their values. More than half also said that he is not honest and trustworthy. Just under half of the Clinton voters said they would not support Obama in the fall.
Obama may have started the primary season with an inspiring win in 94-percent-white Iowa, but he is winding it up with a resounding loss in 94-percent-white West Virginia.

I wonder who Senator KKK Byrd voted for
Raspberry for Barry and a Draino enema for Maureen.
She may very well be right.
I sincerely hope that the water is too poisoned and that Hillary will not get on the ticket. - Because - despite all of the feel good nonsense and banter about Hillary arranging to murder Barak, that ticket would be virtually unbeatable.
It would be the smart thing for the Dems to do, but cold hard reason may not be in play this cycle. - Just look at our choices!
I started to read the article, but then I noticed who
wrote it. It’s not worth the precious time I have on this planet to read anything this blithering idiot has to say.

In my mind, cold hard reason agues against such a ticket.
HRC, no matter whar she says, would chafe at being V.P., and no doubt, with het ego, would end up becoming an even bigger chonic headache for Obama, than Bill has been for Hillary.
No doubt with a Press Corps that would be all too eager to paint her as undetrmining Obama at every event.
As this is not in QUOTES, it is charactized as an iditorial comment in a NEWS piece. "John McBush". Ha ha. No. McCain is to the LEFT of GW Bush. He does not carry the same policies.
Can we call Barack Obama by his middle name Karlmarx?
Maurie Dowd. Oh. It IS an iditorial. Where was the barf alert?
Not only would it be beatable, it would be beatable by McGovern like proportions. On the ticket you describe would be a woman with the highest negatives in history for a pol running for office and one who over 60% of the people do not trust, and a man who is viewed as an elitist, is a confirmed plagiarist, has been caught in multiple lies and has attached to him Rev Wright and the 'bitter" statement. As a bonus he also has a wife who is arguably very critical of America.
Either one of these people will drive Republicans to the polls in great numbers despite what the people here seem to be saying about their staying home, but both of them together will set new records for Republican turnout. I also would not be to confident that the people who are gung ho for Hillary will be motivated to vote for the ticket if she is not on top. There are enough polls indicating supporters of each of the Dems will NOT vote for the other one if they are the nominee but will vote for McCain. While I don't think the number will be 20% as most polls show it will be much higher then any previous election and along with the Ind who seem to be in McCain's corner in much greatwer numbers then before, I see this ticket you describe as the worst possible choice for the left.
>Either one of these people will drive Republicans to the polls in great numbe...
What it WILL do is drive democrats to the polls in great numbers and cut whatever McCain thinks that he can get from blue dogs to nothing.
In addition your premise is flawed.
Only McCain supporters will flock to vote for him, not all republicans and certainly not all conservatives. - as you see here on this conservative forum
I see the reverse of the scenerio that you state.
she can show that a black man cant yet be elected president.
There it is, people won't vote for him because he is black, even if other reasons are given. Nope, no agenda here.
Why is everyone surprised that the state of grand wizard senator byrd voted overwhelmingly against the black guy??
So does he.
I haven't read that before. Could you provide an example & source, please?
Check the exit polls since PA.
There are large numbers in both camps that say they will vote for McCain or stay home. The marxists have a battle of two special interest cults. If only the GOP had a credible nominee with a coherent message.
Greetings lexusppd:
Tomorrow Juan McCain will be in Columbus; would a telephone booth be too crowded for the event?
In 2000 I canvassed on behalf of McCain because I judged George Bush as a mushy conservative. Then the gang of Juan sold conservatives out.
So I would rather cast a vote for Barry than for Juan. If McCain wins, it is only because Juan has the coattails of local Republicans.
Cheers,
OLA
What a difference Wright, Farakhan, Michelle, Ayers, Rezko, Hamas, bittergate make! From a charming empty suit to an evil empty suit in four months!
Obama was accused of plagiarizing rhetoric and slogans used by his friend and fellow empty suit Deval Patrick in his campaign for Massachusetts governor against Kerry Murphy Healey. The two of them share a political advisor, David Axelrod. Here is Patrick on GMA defending Obama.
Thank you for your input. Even the minority, no matter how small should have a voice.

Hi ND.
Problem with that example is that those areas are not going to vote democrat anyway, but you do note an interesting point.
The dems nominating big O is going to force them to spend some real money propping up their normal voting base among white men.
If hillary manages to worm her way onto the ticket, then that conclusion is out of the window.
Thank you for your post - bill
Somehow, I just don't see that happening. She would fear being dropped like a hot potato from the 2012 ticket should Obama and Hillary win in November. It's either now or 2012 for Billary, IMHO.
Sure! It's a simple cut and paste.
