Rumor mill keeps Obama on defense
The Washington Times ^ | 5-14-08 | Christina Bellantoni

Sen. Barack Obama says he is well-prepared to battle false smears and Republican attacks on his religion and patriotism, but various rumors have permeated so deeply into the electorate that they present a general election challenge for the likely Democratic presidential nominee.

From state to state, voters who support Mr. Obama's rivals regularly cite information gleaned from e-mails that falsely claim that he is a Muslim or that he doesn't respect the Pledge of Allegiance.

"His name scares me, his background scares me," said Terri Knowles, a grandmother from Tippecanoe County, Ind. She voted for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton last week and said that if Mr. Obama wins the nomination, she will sit out the November election.

This week in West Virginia, the rumor mill was working at full tilt, flagging the work the Obama campaign faces to set the record straight before November and highlighting the hurdles of urban-myth attacks on candidates.

Mr. Obama — who is Christian and says the Pledge of Allegiance regularly — sometimes shrugs off questions about the rumors with jokes, but he increasingly has been forced to quash them outright. He said the e-mails have been "systematically fed into the bloodstream" before a state holds an election, indicating that "it is not just a random sort of viral thing."

It is his wanting to make sure we have a second term for Jimmy Carter that scares me.

Nature abhors a vacuum...Hussein goes around saying nothing, so rumors rush in to speak for him. And he can't really say anything substantial because in some ways that's worse than the rumors.

And this is the best that the American Black Community can come up with on the dhimmocrat side. That speaks volumes...

“..voters who support Mr. Obama’s rivals regularly cite information gleaned from e-mails that falsely claim that he is a Muslim..”

Playing the devil’s advocate I would like to ask why it matters that Obambi is a Muslim. Don’t we allow their immigration into the US and aren’t they members of the ROP? Then why should Obanbi and the Dhimmicrats object to the claim that he is a muzzie?

“Marjorie Hershey, a political science professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, said the e-mails that also flooded her state before the primary are “damaging” because there is a “lack of information about Obama.””

I got a degree in Poli Sci from IU/Bloomington. Ms. Hershey is just another flaming lib prof. I’m sure she is personally trying as hard as she can to address the “lack of information” about Obama. Probably requires her students to write Odes & Ballads about him or they get flunked. The more enterprising students probably dig up some of the fawning garbage written about Stalin back in the 1930’s, and just sub the name Obama. That’s sure to get an “A.”

How long before this inept and disingenuous Affirmative Action creation complain voters who reject him are RACISTS?

Amazing they have to say it for him. Wonder what they think Christian means and to what does he pledge allegiance?

I come up with the comparison to Jackie Robinson. He had a much tougher time, but Branch Rickey made sure of selecting the exactly right combination of talent & character to break the color barrier in baseball.

This isn’t a game, this job is President of the United States. The American people deserve nothing less than the highest character and ability for the job. Obama displays neither. He is simply NOT QUALIFIED.

Barack Obama is no Jackie Robinson.

Were you able to voice you political opinions in Indiana University Bloomington, or were you silenced and punished by the lib faculty?

“Sen. Barack Obama says he is well-prepared to battle false smears”

Too bad for him he is so inept in battling true smears...

Another example of media anticipatory strikes to deflect the sure to come attacks on Obama. The Jon Carry victimization strategy yet again.

Black community? It was the New York City white community that pimped him starting around the 2006 election.

This was many years ago, but it was silence or punishment. I wanted to go to law school so I whored myself for a grade. A number of friends in the Poli Sci school felt the same way. We knew all the profs were dingbats who were unemployable in the private sector, went out for beers and laughed at them and their stupid Marxist ideas.

Took a course on “Comparative Political Systems” that was really “Soviet Communism Here & Now.” The prof was in favor of “workers owning the means of production.” I had just worked construction during the summer, and knew that if you turned over the “means of production” to the workers, the building wasn’t going to get built because the workers were going to wind up in the parking lot with a keg of beer & a bucket of chicken.

This guy wound up Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. I never gave IU another dime. My son goes to Krannert School of Management at Purdue.

Considering so far they're all coming from the Dems, and McCain is acting like Mr. Nice Guy, I'd say he's looking in the wrong direction.

Why then do “we” not get a whiff of these “rumors”? Of course, “we” are being “protected” by the MSM, who already know and dismiss the “rumors” either as “old news” the way they used to do with the Clintons, or Obama’s “above it.”

I wouldn't stand by that statement if I were you... we know about about Obama's "former" preacher. And besides... the clintons claimed to be religious folks too.

Why don't we seize the opportunity provided by the MSM's continuous shoving of Obama down our throats to permanently de-claw the IRS?

This post (<-click), while addressing taxes, helps to explain why government "leaders" like Senator Obama are actually in contempt of the Constitution that they have sworn to defend, foolishly following in the footsteps of FDR's dirty federal spending politics. In fact, the article referenced below shows that Obama is the #1 federal spending proposer in the Senate for '08; Clinton is #2.

Obama, a big-shot federal spender
The people need to reconnect with the Founder's division of federal and state government powers. The people then need to wise up to the major problem that the federal government is not operating within the restraints of the federal Constitution, particularly where constitutionally unauthorized federal spending is concerned.

The bottom line is that the people need to send big-shot, Constitution-ignoring federal spenders like Obama home as opposed to trying to send people like him to the Oval Office. The people need to get in the faces of the feds, demanding a stop to constitutionally unauthorized federal spending while appropriately lowering federal taxes - or get out of DC.
