BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces detained 16 suspected terrorists Wednesday in central and northern Iraq during operations to disrupt the al-Qaeda in Iraq network.

Coalition forces captured a wanted man and five additional suspects during two operations targeting AQI cells in Mosul. The wanted man is believed to be a cell leader who plans and conducts bombing attacks against Coalition forces.

In a precision operation west of Samarra, which is about 65 miles north of Baghdad, Coalition forces captured an alleged associate of senior AQI leaders in Salah ad-Din province.

Northwest of Balad, which is about 50 miles north of Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a man who allegedly facilitates suicide bombings. They detained six additional suspects in the operation.

Coalition forces detained two suspected terrorists in Baghdad during an operation targeting an AQI senior leader.

“Our operations are diminishing al-Qaeda in Iraq’s resources, and we will continue to target their operatives and leaders,” said Lt. Col. Maura Gillen, MNF-I spokeswoman.

Hold on a minute, I just learned from Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, that the war on terror was, and is, a figment of GW Bush's imagination.
How can this be that there are real enemies of the US who want to kill us and are now captured?

A year or two ago, anybody helping the US against AQ would have had to uproot and hide far away. Since it's safer now, we can offer less money and still get lots of takers
