Mark Levin to GOP candidates: Cut ties with McCain and the RNC and run as conservatives

It won’t do any good. At this point, who would believe them?

Look on the bright side: It only took six years to get from the Watergate wipeout to Reagan. What could go wrong?

Conservatives also truly need to teach the general public about what went on during the entire Carter Presidency, and conservative seriously need to ask if they seriously want a repeat of all of that?

I think as conservatives, we should sever ties with the present two system altogether and focus on getting conservatives elected at the state and local level.

However, if the GOP wants the conservative vote, they will have to cut liberalism loose, including McCain and all RINO’s.

Conservatives “may teach” the general public, but the public may be incapable of “learning”. It is determined to put Oprah’s Obama in the White House, and I don’t think we can do a thing about it. The surprise of this season has come and gone — the rise and fall of HRC. The people are not capable of two surprises in one election cycle.

It will have to be the conservatives who teach them, because it certainly will not be Bush, McCain, or most of the GOP legislative “leadership”

Every time the RNC asks you for money, remind them that you will support a party of Reagan conservatism and not the party of Rockefeller/McCain/Country club Republicans.

I've been doing that all week, in fact for the past year. The RNC has really ramped up their fund raising efforts! I've received two mailers and two phone calls this week alone. I told the person on the other end that McCain was crap and hung up.

It only took six years to get from the Watergate wipeout to Reagan

That was primarily because Carter turned out to be such a disaster, as president.

Unless one of the Dems gets elected and turns out to be as bad as Carter, don't expect to see a new Reagan any time soon.

If the Pubbie wins, don't expect to see a rush to vote in a new Pubbie if this one turns out to be as bad as Carter.

==

It would seem, to usher in a new Reagan, you need Obama (Clinton would, like hubby, be more centrist than leftist) and you would need Obama to mess of on a grand scale.

The only other scenario might be the Pubbie nominating a conservative (doubtful -- he will stick with a more moderate 'friend') and Providence steps in to move the VP to the Presidency.

One bright spot:
With all those Jorge Boosh Pesos the GOP/RNC/McCain have received during the last 2 years, John 'I will mandate green' McCain can recycle them to help pay for his campaign. That would probably bring in a couple $million.

Conservatives also truly need to teach the general public about what went on during the entire Carter Presidency, and conservative seriously need to ask if they seriously want a repeat of all of that?

If you take a realistic look at what is going on, we are closer to the Carter years (under a Pubbie) that you might want to accept.

Many food items are have experienced double-digit price increases in the last 6 months. [Government figures hide this from their 'official' figures and are telling us inflation is only about 0.02%. But anyone who grocery shops on a regular basis can tell you that price increases are massively higher than the government figures try to suggest.]

Fuel prices have nearly doubled just in the last year. Gas is now in the $4.00 range in some area. [Prices were in the $2.00 range a year ago. That is a near 100% increase, which, again, the government reports try to hide in their 'official' figures, during the last year, and a 300% increase in the last 6 years.]

Source: gasbuddy.com

Fuel price increases are also affecting other goods and services, and utility bills will see increases, as well.

==

So far, interest rates are excessively low, however. During the Carter era, they were also in the double digit range.

There is a problem with very low interest rates. Many retirees depend on interest from savings to supplement their retirement income. With low interest rates, they are not receiving the income they once had. Their expenses are higher and their income is lower.

Another aspect that reared its ugly head in the mid 70s (pre-Carter) and which is showing some signs on reoccurring is 'shortages'. At that time, there were shortages of gasoline, paper, sugar, antifreeze, etc. Just a couple of weeks ago, we saw headlines of the world-wide rice shortage. [Expect more 'shortages' in the coming months. They are an effective was for businesses to get to raise prices.]

How about more analysis than just blaming the R's? Or do you buy into the Great 2008 Depression doom & gloom?
The Economy has been swimming along just fine after 9/11 and the Clinton Depression of 2000-2001 and would have continued in the same direction except for the interference of idiot Politicians, primarily Demotards. Notice what has happened after we got a D majority in Congress? The real cause of the Housing Bubble also originates primarily from the Leftist attack on Lending standards in the 90’s...

TomGuy, another thing you got wrong pertains to gas prices. Even @ $4/gallon, the adjusted price of gas is quite a bit less than during Carter’s fiasco! IMO, you need to take a look at some Economic Sites before you start posting the Doom & Gloom stuff.
Check out this site: http://mjperry.blogspot.com/

Notice what has happened after we got a D majority in Congress?

The Dems have had a majority in the house for about 1.5 years now. The Pubbies had a majority for 12 years.

Yet, you blame the Dems for all the current woes. You accuse them of not solving the energy problem in their 1.5 years, while the Pubbies failed to do much about it during their 12 years.

Get your head out of the kool-aid and look at the real situation. Neither party has shown themselves to be much more than a herd of porkers feeding at the trough of open-checkbook spending on pork barrel projects.

If you look at that fuel price chart, you will notice that gas neared $3.00 in mid to late 2005. That was a year before the Dems won the House. That was a near-50% increase over mid-2004 when the Pubbies still controlled the House.

the Doom & Gloom stuff.

Perception is reality. In November, voters are going to go into the booths.

$4.00/gal gasoline and 20-30% food inflation, with substantial utility bill increases, etc., are probably going to be perceived as 'lesser' rather than 'greater' purchasing power.

That math adds up to more Republican losses in the House, the Senate, and quite probably, the White House.

So, go ahead and try to tell the voters that $4.00 gas and 20-30% food increases aren't really bad. After all, things were worse during the depression -- adjusted; things were worse under Carter -- adjusted [note how many loyal Pubbies ignore that fuel/food/commodity prices initially skyrocketed under Nixon-Ford, but it is easier to blame all that on Carter. Just like now, they find it easier to blame it on the Dems who have controlled the House 1.5 years, but excuse the Pubbies who had control of the House for 12 years].

I agree. I think that Bush should have let Dick Cheney retire (since he’s done nothing but sit in an undisclosed location for four years ANYWAY) and chosen someone for his Vice President with a mind towards grooming that person for the Presidency. Then we would have had a front runner off-the-bat (with name recognition) who we could have gotten behind in the primaries.

Thanks for the PINGy, Fuddy...

“Why compromise your principles for what ??? For nothing”

The Great One is talking sense and wisdom as usual..

McCain will pull down with him any of the GOP candidates who align themselves with him this election cycle..

GOP conservatives running for office must stand out and away from the liberals and moderates...

And the GOP conservative voters must not settle for 2nd or 3rd best..

Someone recently said...

If you vote for someone just to fill in a blank, the candidate will think you agree with his philosophy..

He will get a message that he can go ahead and do whatever he wants to when he gets to Wahington or your state capital...

but if there are several GOP voters who just leave the ballot blank at his spot, he will know it was a vote against him.. and MIGHT bother to find out why..

Dont stay home..

Go to the polls and vote further down the ballot...

For conservatives that you know and trust to do the right thing...

And if there is nobody at all on the ballot to vote for ???

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Your county and state is in bad trouble...

Wrong! It was Clinton that put the restriction on ANWAR. It was Bush that wanted to drill there and the Republicans putting up for a vote, but it was filibustered. Pelosi said that if she was out in charge they would have a solution to our energy needs, so sorry, but they are 100% responsible for this fix we are in. Filibuster? BS.

You forget that Frist (R) went to the 'gentle' filibusters -- they got 2 hours a day, then they could rest, and continue at a future date.

Had Frist (R) the backbone, he would have FORCED them to the old fashioned filibuster -- You want it? you talk. When you finish, we vote.

Alas, he didn't. So the 'filibuster' has become a joke.
