McCain 05/15/2008 Speech - Illegal Immigration Solved [Mod note - context added]
John McCain ^ | 05/15/2008 | Ktime

Edited on 05/15/2008 8:01:29 AM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

While listening to McCain's policy speech, Sen. McCain incredibly stated the following regarding illegal immigration. I repeat this is not a joke.

Excerpt of speech:

MODERATOR ADDITION - CRITICAL CONTEXT WAS MISSING FROM THIS POST. CONTEXT HAS BEEN ADDED IN ITALICS. POSTER'S ORIGINAL TEXT WILL RESUME AFTER THE ITALICS.

So, what I want to do today is take a little time to describe what I would hope to have achieved at the end of my first term as President. I cannot guarantee I will have achieved these things. I am presumptuous enough to think I would be a good President, but not so much that I believe I can govern by command. Should I forget that, Congress will, of course, hasten to remind me. The following are conditions I intend to achieve. And toward that end, I will focus all the powers of the office; every skill and strength I possess; and seize every opportunity to work with members of Congress who put the national interest ahead of partisanship, and any country in the world that shares our hopes for a more peaceful and prosperous world.

By January 2013,END MODERATOR ADDITION

"Border state governors have certified and the American people recognize that after tremendous improvements to border security infrastructure and increases in the border patrol, and vigorous prosecution of companies that employ illegal aliens, our southern border is now secure.

Illegal immigrants who broke our laws after they came here have been arrested and deported.

Illegal immigration has been finally brought under control, and the American people accepted the practical necessity to institute a temporary worker program and deal humanely with the millions of immigrants who have been in this country illegally."[1]

These statements are contrary to reality.

1) The border is not secure as the virtual and 700 mile fence have yet to be built.

2) Illegal immigrants have not been arrest and deported, unless 20 million people disappeared recently.

3) Current illegal immigration continues unabated today.

4) The US public is overwhelming against amnesty.

Maybe I was a little too quick, as he state he wishes to accomplish this by the end of his first term.

However he leaves an escape hatch.

“I cannot guarantee I will have achieved these things.”

he’s not talking about today.

He’s talking about his vision.

Tomorrow he will be giving a speech about how Cancer has been cured, world hunger has been solved, and how profitable our Mars base has become.

That's his "second term" accomplishment speech. Tune in tomorrow.

ummmm.....he’s talking about what he envisions the “future” to be, not the current situation.

Now would those governors be Arnold, Napolitano, Richardson, and Perry?

So he gets two socialists (Napolitano and Richardson) a socialist wannabe (Arnold) and a RINO (Perry) to sign off that the border is secure?

Why wait until the end of his administration, these four clowns already think the border is secure and just wish the issue would go away.

It that the great plan McAmnesty has to seal the border?

How do you see that working effectively?

“....he’s talking about what he envisions the “future” to be, not the current situation.”

That was my first thought as I read this. I was thinking perhaps he’d grabbed the wrong sheathe of prewritten speeches or the likes thereof, but regardless something into the future.

Holding that door open to all those illegals makes me think of McCain as an effective La Raza doorstop.

If you repeat a lie enough....

Wishful thinking on McCain’s part.

I wanted to blow chunks everytime I heard his campaign called “The Straight Talk Express”.

That name is such a joke and if Juan can’t see that he is far too stupid to be President.

I guess I could look at it another way though.

It must have taken mighty big ba&ls to publicly appear under such a banner.

John "Global warming is real!" McCain may be married to an heiress, but he's divorced from reality.

And as for his stand on "illegals"? Put it this way: follow the money. When his wife, Cynthia Heinz McCain, tries (and fails) to quietly divest the family from investments in Sudanese Islamofascist interests, that's all I need to know about the McCain stand on illegals. Can't sweep that one under the Persian carpet, Cindy! And no, that's not obfuscating the issue: if you haven't linked our open borders to Islamofascist designs on America, you're stuck on stupid.

There’s an important lesson to be learned here: politicians should never talk about the future, lest someone thinks they are talking about the present. ;)

There maybe something to that but this duffus let there McCain hate get the better of them. There is no way you pull something like this by accident. They knew they were posting an excerpt and they were cutting off the front to make a purposeful distortion.

I’m insulted that they thought Freepers were too stupid to catch on to what they were pulling. I guess they got bored with DU.

Interesting that Cindy McCain has refused to release her tax returns. An editorial in The Washington Times (May 14, 2008), "Cindy McCain's 'privacy' charade" sums it up well. Next to this editorial is a cartoon by Garner:
Reporter: Mrs. McCain, don't you owe it to the public to divulge your income?"
Cindy: Let 'em drink beer!

Yeah, I don't see it as being very likely that the poster just missed the part where McCain states he's speaking of the future. And if you think about it, it doesn't even make sense that McCain would claim that our "southern border is now secure." If it is, then what was the purpose of McCain/Kennedy?

So it was either a trolling attempt (and a bad one at that), or a serious mental malfunction.

Comment:

If she filed separately from John then I see no need to view her private documents.

Let them drink beer would make a good tag line if I drank beer more than once a month.

I don’t want to keep drilling this in the ground but you keep hanging more rope out there for yourself. You had to go out on the net and search the text of his speach out. You had to scan down to the portion you remembered. You had to cut and paste it into a thread.

You weren’t careless, you were dishonest. That’s what you should be apologizing for.

I was not fooled at all by the post. I already know McCain’s talking point, slight of hand nonsence, word for word. The man has been saying the same line the entire time.
He wants to pass amnesty the very minute the border governors give him the political cover to do so.

There are many reasons she should file unless, of course, has something to hide. The editorial spells them out, such has her directly benefiting form husband's tax policies.

Freepers, including me, wanted Kerry's wife to release her tax returns and eventually she did some of them. I do not recall anyone arguing that she should not.
