Statement of VA homosexual group on CA ruling (BARF Alert)

Posted on 05/15/2008 11:28:52 AM PDT by Gopher Broke

Equality Virginia Celebrates with California

(May 15) In response to the 4-3 California Supreme Court ruling overturning that state's marriage ban, Equality Virginia released the following statement from Dyana Mason, Executive Director:

"All Americans should celebrate the California Supreme Court Decision today. Interpreting that state's constitution, the Court ruled that their same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional and that all couples, gay and straight, have a right to marry the person they love."

The California marriage decision will affect over 36 million people - well over 10% of the total population of America.

Unfortunately in Virginia, we took a different path with the 2006 passage of the so-called 'marriage amendment' banning any type of relationship recognition for same-sex couples, even though a majority of Virginians did and continue to support civil unions. We will continue to work to change hearts and minds and to seek full equality under the law.

We applaud the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Equality California, Our Family Coalition and all the plaintiffs for their courage and leadership."

For more information on this historic decision, go to the Equality California website.

After the initial interest wears off, let’s see how many Gays actually get married. They are not rushing to marry in Massachusetts.

No, but a constitutional amendment is under proposal for the upcoming election.

“The California marriage decision will affect over 36 million people - well over 10% of the total population of America. “

This ruling effects everyone as it will be used to justify teaching about gays in schools, how they are treated on TV, housing, adoption, etc. Furthermore, when the def of marriage changes from a man and a woman to one that includes any 2 freaks or perverts, it lessens the value of the institution. For example, consider the value of something called a “first class meal” if it also could refer to “a meal dipped in sewage”.

same here in Florida this year

over 600,000 sigs were needed to get it on the ballot and the homo’s tried everything to stop it

amazing we have to do this as even the most ardent lib must surely know that the founding fathers never intended homo’s to get married

In reality, based upon this decision, there really should be no valid argument for any restrictions on relationships.

Polygamy? Why not?

Everyone knows gays really aren’t interested in marriage or being committed to one person. They prefer random sex in men’s rooms, bars, etc. It’s more “exciting”.

The only reason they push the gay marriage thing is to get back at “the establishment”. But in reality, relatively few of them will get married.

Todays judicial ruling is precisely why there WAS and should continue to be a push for a US Constitutional amendment.

The people screaming loudest for it knew exactly that, state by state, DOMA wasn’t enough to stop the judges from legislating from the bench.

The slippery slope just got a fresh KY lube job.

exactly

every argument used by the homo’s can be used for other weird marriages

I really would now like to see polygamists use those same arguments for their marriages to be legal, also for normal straight couples who are not married to push for the same laws like in civil unions.

I wonder then if Gays would be harping on about civil rights etc

For me , my family and especially my children they know the only normal right marriage is between a man and a woman anything else is not acceptable in our eyes or minds

The gays can go on and on about this but they cannot force me to accept their weird acts or way of life

In Massachusetts they think they are married , they go on vacation to another state

They are now not married no matter how many times they say they are

thus they are in a sham marriage

Notice how those gays don’t say about the rate of divorce now in that state , even the original ones who pushed the law are divorced

Given what I've read from the opinion so far, if California's majority voters want to allow only man woman marriages then it is up to them to flex their voting muscle to amend their constitution to say so.

The bottom line is that Californians can choose not to be slaves to their own constitution or the judges who interpret

No kidding. All the Founders believed homosexuality was a crime so, of course, they didn't believe gay marriage was a constitutional right.

These judges ignored the Constitution. They have usurped power from the power.

These four thugs are nothing more than dictators that belong in jail not on a court.

It's too late now given the makeup of the Congress. Bush and the Republican had chance to get one passed if they made it a priority. They choose to give lip service to the idea. Then, the Republicans wonder why they are in a shrinking political minority.

Can't they? The New Mexico human rights commission just fined a photographer for refusing to shoot a gay marriage ceremony. An administrator at the University of Toledo just lost her job for expressing an opinion a private citizen about homosexuality in a local newspaper.

If we follow the path of Canada, what you just wrote might be considered a hate crime or hate speech.
