While no one knows who first uttered the sentiment "It’s better to say nothing and seem a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt," Republican presidential hopeful John McCain’s speech this week on climate change certainly supports the phrase’s validity.
McCain spoke at the facilities of Vestas Wind Technology, an Oregon-based firm that manufactures wind-power systems. The irony of the setting was rich given McCain’s outspoken opposition to pork-barrel spending.
He even risked his presidential hopes by criticizing ethanol subsidies ahead of the all-important Iowa caucuses. Next to solar power, however, wind power is the most heavily subsidized form of energy.

Although our energy needs are ever-growing, construction of nuclear power plants is not keeping pace — not one has come online in the last 30 years.This fact, more than any other, shows the decades-long failure of the REPUBLICAN Party. Failure to seize on an important issue and lift both party and country out of the mire of liberal swamp-think.
I will not vote for this guy under any circumstances that I can imagine. I will take my one little vote and go third party. I cannot support him. The list is too long.

The only thing I can figure on this is that McCain’s handlers are betting that true conservatives would NEVER let Obama be elected so they are hedging their bet by letting him pander to the wacked out Gore disciples.

Add to that his GW Hoax position, and I too cannot vote for him. This from one who has voted for every Republican presidential candidate since I could vote.

I think you're partly right -- McCain & Co. are certainly betting on conservatives holding their ankles, yet again, in some misguided belief that same-old-same-old will yield some new and different return. However, I also think Juan is a true believer in the climate hoax.
One thing's for sure, this country is in for some dark days ahead. Very dark indeed.

Agree totally. I think this country is much closer to learning the intent of the second amendment than most people think. The graft, corruption, and brain-dead thinking from the crooked, power-hungry drones in Washington - indeed, at all levels of government - is appalling. It is beyond ones' thinking how the American people can continue to tolerate this.

He's pandering to a core group of people who have him pegged as the third term of Bush. Global warming to those people is about as near and dear to their hearts as the WOT, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" issues and open borders are to Conservatives.

You have no idea how many times I have thought the same thing. The more I read the political postings here and elsewhere all I can do is shake my head wonder why I keep doing this to myself.
No one thought the Soviet Union would go down, until it did. Much the same problem here -- would the military really fight against the conservatives? Or join them? Not that I'm advocating any sort of disloyalty, mind you. That wouldn't be prudent.

Those trying to rationalize why one dishonorable, lying, opportunistic, self serving swine is preferable to another obviously are grasping at straws.

IOW, assuming McCain is true to his word, and nominates an Alito or Roberts, how would such a nomination make it through the Senate?
Looking at it the other way, if (shudder) a president Obama nominates an Ayers, a Dohrn, and/or a Che groupie, a Dem Senate will confirm.
Once a Dem/Marxist Congress has a willing majority in the SCOTUS, they will have no impedance as they zip out laws confiscating property and eliminating rights, including laws that might make it impossible to ever elect a GOPer again. (Think illegal alien hordes, here.)
So, maybe the Supremes operating a few players short is a victory.
