Students Must Pay To Make Up Difference In Out-Of-State Tuition.
Was it a promise kept, or a promise broken?
Four years ago in an auditorium at Cole Middle School, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper promised the 300-plus students in attendance that he would find a way to send each of them to college for free.
Now, the first group of those students is set to graduate, and some are finding that the mayor's promise isn't adding up.
The promise only pays in-state tuition, and state law requires illegal immigrants to pay out-of-state tuition.
So undocumented students must make up the difference.

If they EARN a scholarship then it honestly doesn't bother me if they get money for college, but it should come out of the same scholarship pool that would normally go to foreigners and they should be paying out of state tuition.
Under what authority or law did this dolt make this promise? He's a rat, so he feels the rest of the state is obligated to cough up the cash to cover his a$$.

When registering for college I was told that grant students have priority.

Chickenlooper would tell you that deportation is a federal issue like he did yesterday when Mike Rosen offered that option when the topic was raised on 850 KOA.
Illegal immigrants are here illegally. They shouldn't even be allowed to attend the college. The only thing they should get for free is a one-way ticket to where ever they came from.

Raul Garcia-Gomez, 19, an illegal immigrant, failed to show up for work Monday morning at the restaurant in the Cherry Creek retail district after the fatal shooting of police Detective Donald Young and the wounding of Detective John Bishop early Sunday morning.
Lee Driscoll, the mayor’s business partner, said Tuesday that the company learned last month that Garcia-Gomez provided the restaurant with two forms of identification, but the Social Security number he provided turned out to be false.
Driscoll said Garcia-Gomez’s name was on a list he receives annually from the Social Security Administration. It indicated Garcia-Gomez’s information did not match its records.
