Posted on 05/16/2008 5:45:58 AM PDT by kellynla

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa hailed the California Supreme Court decision today, saying he would officiate over as many same-sex weddings as possible.

The mayor stood by leaders of the gay and lesbian community today, calling the high-court's decision a victory for California.

Read about how a pro-communist, ultra radical "MEChista" named Tony Villar cut his hair, changed his name, put on a tie, and became the mayor of America's second largest city.

IF he officiates at such a “wedding,” he automatically excommunicates himself.

"That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions: Why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in a similar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, men doing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion and indecent behaviour.

And so now they are steeped in all sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy, murder, wrangling, treachery and spite,

libellers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious to parents,

without brains, honour, love or pity.

They are well aware of God's ordinance: that those who behave like this deserve to die-yet they not only do it, but even applaud others who do the same."

it was better when there was a secret underground society of these people.

Whether through nature or nurture these people became what they are.

But for the good of society we risk ending up like the decline of the Roman Empire by legitimizing their activity. All things considered, the closet was a good thing.

In the Catholic church, when one violates the primary tenets of the faith, that person is no longer entitled to receive communion, and is essentially shunned unless they repent their sin and receive absolution. Absolution can only be granted by a priest.

I just vomited! :)

but in all fairness to Catholics who maybe confused, may be I missed it?... But in his recent visit, the Pope, although he spoke several times about the abuses of "Pedophiles,"... NOT ONCE uttered the word "homosexuals." And that leads me to all kinds of suspicions. I don't mind telling you that I believe the CC is probably full of homosexual priest already, STILL ACTIVE, and very probable in high ranking positions already. Could the Pope be simply giving the homos the old wink... wink?

You know how the CC screams often enough in favor of the Illegals and how unjust we are in the U.S... But have they EVER shown the same passion against the fags?... Whom by the way, is not that they want "to be left alone" anymore, but that they are ACTIVELY trying their best to indoctrinate and initiate as many kids as they can into a homosexual life... And where is the Catholic Church on these issues? Furthermore, where is the OUTRAGE of Catholics themselves on the position of the CC on this?..... Hmm????????.... The old wink.. wink? I guess..

Sorry. ;-) Excommunication is the most serious censure the Catholic Church imposes on her members. It is based on an understanding of the concept of SIN. An excommunicated person is still a member of the Church, but he/she has lost certain key rights attached to Church membership and is cut off from many of the activities and benefits of the Church. For example, an excommunicated person may no longer receive Communion.

“Can. 1314 A penalty is for the most part ferendae sententiae, that is, not binding upon the offender until it has been imposed. It is, however, latae sententiae, so that it is incurred automatically upon the commission of an offence,...”

Hope this helps.

No "wink-wink". The Pope is just using the accepted media language for the problem. Believe me, the Church is well aware of the problems of homosexual priests, and has already promulgated and implemented policies in an attempt to keep queers out of the priesthood. Where the Church went wrong is that they got hood-winked into accepting the "queers are just like us" meme that the psychologists are peddling, and, based on that idea, allowed a relaxation of the "no queers" rules--the reasoning being that as long as the priest remains true to his vows of celibacy, there wouldn't be a problem. BUT, the evidence on the ground now proves that there IS a problem, and that queers CANNOT and WILL NOT remain true to their celibacy vows. Hence the return of the more stringent screening for queer candidates for the priesthood.

"You know how the CC screams often enough in favor of the Illegals and how unjust we are in the U.S... But have they EVER shown the same passion against the fags?... Whom by the way, is not that they want "to be left alone" anymore, but that they are ACTIVELY trying their best to indoctrinate and initiate as many kids as they can into a homosexual life... And where is the Catholic Church on these issues? Furthermore, where is the OUTRAGE of Catholics themselves on the position of the CC on this?"

And here speaks your ignorance. The Church has CONSISTENTLY spoken out against the active queer lifestyle, and homosexual activity. On the same note, the Church has always taught that, as long as they do not engage in active homosexuality (i.e. remain celibate), then they can be forgiven and receive the sacraments just like anybody other sinner. And I can absolutely guarantee that we Catholics are just as outraged by the push to legitimize queer-ism as anybody else.

When a person has committed a grave sin of that nature, technically he has excommunicated himself - that is, he has excluded himself from the communion and also from being able to go to sacramental Communion. He can come back by repenting and going to Confession. While he has technically excommunicated himself, though, much depends on having the priest refuse him Communion, because sinners like this don’t care and will go to Communion anyway. Priests are timid and reluctant to refuse, even assuming they know who the person is and what he has done, particularly if there has been no announcement from a bishop that makes it a public matter.

However, a formal excommunication is one that is announced by a Church official, such as the person’s bishop, subject to provisions of canon law. This is a public matter, and the person is usually subject to some kind of public penalty, such as publicly renouncing his actions, as well as going to Confession. These excommunications can be lifted by a bishop, but there are certain excommunications that can only be removed by Rome.

Bishops who do excommunicate people now don’t seem to do it with the formal anathemas and things that used to surround the procedure, and generally write a letter which is publicly released telling that person to refrain from going to Communion. This was done recently by Archbishop Naumann of Kansas in the case of Governor Kathleen Sibelius, after he had met with the governor and discussed her relentlessly pro-abortion policies with her - and then she went and vetoed an abortion limit approved by the large majority of the state’s legislators. So far as I know, she hasn’t challenged it or tried to go to Communion.

Hope this makes sense!

The Pope actually did mention homosexuals, and said (significantly, I thought) that this was a “separate matter” that he would deal with at a different time. This was in an address to the bishops.

The number of genuine child molesters among the clergy was actually not very high, and the greatest percentage of the cases involved men molesting teenage boys and occasionally even harrassing young adult men. Just lumping them under “pedophiles” lets them skate under the radar, and I think the Pope is trying to separate the two issues so he can deal with them appropriately.

Ok granted, that I am not as brilliant and educated as some of you are and I have never pretended otherwise - just look at my 'spelling'! :)

You seem to know your stuff, again, did the Pope say anything of substance against the 'queers' IN THIS TRIP?

Because, there is a problem with people such like me who may not get it unless the CC makes their position very clear. There is no question in my mind, this last trip was a very successful PR trip for the CC and the pope. I liked the Pope before he was Pope and still do because he seems like not nonsense type of man, that is probably why I expect so much from him.

I judge by what I hear on the regular news outlets... And I simply don't hear ANYTHING...NOTHING!... on the position of the church on these issues. :)

Case in point: The 'queers' marriages in CA now legal. You would think this was a BIG DEAL for the CC... I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THE CC Comment on this? :)... Have they? Have they said anything?... Has Rome said anything on it?

A great Catholic saint once stated that the floor of hell is paved with the skulls of bishops (I am NOT saying this is the case for Bishop Mahoney as only God can do that). To refocus, keep in mind that Bishop Mahoney has no power over Canon Law: ‘It is, however, latae sententiae, so that it is incurred automatically upon the commission of an offence,...’

And where is the Catholic Church on these issues? Furthermore, where is the OUTRAGE of Catholics themselves on the position of the CC on this?..... Hmm????????.... The old wink.. wink? I guess.

Uh, do you actually know what the Church's position is on this, or are you just guessing? Here's what the catechism says:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Furthermore, Benedict XVI issued an Instruction to the Bishops which precludes unrepentant homosexuals from being considered for the priesthood. This document reinforeced another one issued in 1961 by Pope John XXIII. Liberal bishops generally ignored John XXIII's instruction and reaped the whirlwind as a result. Efforts are being made by Catholics and the good bishops to fix the damage, but there are still too many liberals in high places.

And finally, there's the "LETTER TO THE BISHOPS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ON THE PASTORAL CARE OF HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS" which in part says:
The movement within the Church, which takes the form of pressure groups of various names and sizes, attempts to give the impression that it represents all homosexual persons who are Catholics. As a matter of fact, its membership is by and large restricted to those who either ignore the teaching of the Church or seek somehow to undermine it. It brings together under the aegis of Catholicism homosexual persons who have no intention of abandoning their homosexual behaviour. One tactic used is to protest that any and all criticism of or reservations about homosexual people, their activity and lifestyle, are simply diverse forms of unjust discrimination.
Click here for the full document.

So please don't bear false witness against Holy Mother Church before doing the research. Those bishops within the Church who support homosexuality are dissidents who are protesting the Church's unchanging and Biblically-based teaching on the issue. As you know, we've had difficulties with "protestants" before and since Trent, the Church has adopted much different methods for dealing with them. The most common strategy seems to be "teach them, admonish them, love them, and wait them out until the cultural zeitgeist passes by." And for a Church that's been steadily growing for nearly 2,000 years, that seems like a reasonable reaction.
