WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Olympic gold medalist Tim Montgomery has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his part in a fake-check scheme.
Montgomery hung his head as New York Judge Kenneth Karas imposed the sentence Friday.
The 33-year-old former track star pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy in a multimillion-dollar bank fraud and money laundering plot. Prosecutors said he had a hand in depositing bogus checks worth $1.7 million.
Montgomery retired in 2005 after he was banned from track and field for doping.
Montgomery has a child with Marion Jones, the track superstar who is now in prison for lying about the check scam and about her use of performance-enhancing drugs.
He still faces drug-dealing charges in Virginia.

He’s just a fine, upstanding citizen huh? lol
Can he bunk with Wesley Snipes perhaps?
I wonder if he will be able to out run his cell mate?

Wotta dope.
Good grief! Us old fogies thought an aspirin and a coke were too dangerous to mix toghether.
Wrong kind of steroid my friend. You probably got methylprednisalone or a form of prednisone injected to prevent inflammation. That combined with a long acting local anesthetic like marcaine helps for back pain due to a number of causes.
What the track guys take is Human Growth hormone and a form in either as a precursor or substitute for testosterone. That allows them to train harder, longer and build muscle with shorter recovery times and great anabolic (building) of muscle instead of tearing down muscle.
That's one of the myth's of "steroids" in that it doesn't build anything unless you train your tail off. It just lets you train longer and harder with your body laying down more muscle than you normally would. If you don't work out, you don't get the bulk or results.
This is sad to me as a track fan. Having your stats erased is like having the buttons pulled off your coat and your sword broken. Yes, these folks should be held to account but it’s still sad. Montgomery could have been within a few 100ths of the numbers he got without the dope.
oooops, meant methylprednisolone
You can take the thug out of the ghetto,
but fail in getting the ghetto out of the thug.
Some folks will always feel they’re entitled to more than they are willing to earn the hard way......with work.
not really. The explosive power he gained makes the diff between a gold and not qualifying.
Look at the recent baseball stats and players. Notice anything funny about the uniforms this year.
Compare them with uniforms back about 4 years ago.
Lots of "baggy" loose fitting stuff now. Wonder why? Nobody is getting close to Barry Bonds, Sosa and Big Mac's home-run seasons, cause the juice is going away. There are also a lot of guys in their mid-30's that aren't going to be able to stretch out a career into their 40's like Clements and a couple of other juicers.
I'm waiting for the shoe to drop on the NFL off-season testing. I really want them to do hair, urine and blood tests on some of these guys and have them tell me all about how they just "worked out" and got to be 6' 3", 218 lbs wide receivers with 4.3 speed.... or linemen 6'3", 320 lbs with 4.7-4.8 speed.
Lots of HgH and testosterone bought in Mexico or elsewhere making it across the border. Lots.
Wonder if this guy hung around Gov. Paterson’s Olympian mistress?
But he DID use the dope....and the world will NEVER know what he COULD have been without the dope....
Nor should we care - since obviously he didn't care enough to stay clean...
Running a scam appears to be his MO in life....
Dopes and dope -- becoming the standard in "sports"...
