Right off the bat he reaffirmed that Hezbollah is not a legitimate political party. Instead, Its a destabilizing organization by any common-sense standard. This wouldnt happen without the support of Iran and Syria.
I asked him what he meant with all this emphasis on electoral and patronage reform. He said the U.S. should help the Lebanese government deliver better services to the Shiites to peel support away from Hezbollah and encourage the local populace to view them as an oppressive force. The U.S. should find a mechanism whereby the disaffected have an effective outlet for their grievances, which assures them they are getting social services.
The U.S. needs a foreign policy that looks at the root causes of problems and dangers. Obama compared Hezbollah to Hamas. Both need to be compelled to understand that theyre going down a blind alley with violence that weakens their legitimate claims. He knows these movements arent going away anytime soon (Those missiles arent going to dissolve), but if they decide to shift, were going to recognize that. Thats an evolution that should be recognized.

Is this Scrappleface?
Or is Baraq Husayn ibn Mahomet trying to deflect any ghei accusations?
When did Obama adopt a common-sense standard?
That's the headline. The meaning is, "Obama will say whatever to whomever to get what he wants because he's a clever opportunist without a conscience and the media is his willing accomplice."
Either this guy is the greatest or worst thing we've ever seen. The Clintons were bad, indeed; this guy is so slick he makes slick willey look like sandpaper.
2. He still insistes that a "blend" of diplomacy and - well, what else? "getting tough" is a little vague - will address the "concerns" of the people of the Middle East.
3. He still insists that our foreign policy ought to address "root causes" such as access to social services.
4. He still doesn't get it. He's Jimmy Carter in a new suit.

Harlem, November 29, 2007.
...Obama began his career as a community activist, working to help poor residents of a public housing project to get asbestos removed from their buildings. He later labored on behalf of other disadvantaged people. This activity was a life-altering experience for him and he is clearly proud of it...
Hey, there's nothing in the Middle East that a good community activist can't solve! (sarc)
And we’ll all be thrilled to have Al Sharpton as our UN ambassador, or maybe Secretary of Health and Human Services.

obama and his spiritual advisor...
He’s just sweet-talken’ whitey.
Don’t ever be fooled by this lightweight.
Yet, most terrorists and revolutionaries come from the middle class and upper class who have lived lives of advantage.
Perhaps there are always such elitist, angry men who want power, but when social conditions are better in a country they don't get much traction for their message of "burn, baby, burn."
