Mike Reagan: I Am Disgusted with California ("Gay Marriage")
Newsmax ^ | May 16, 2008 | Phil Brennan

Posted on 05/16/2008 2:57:37 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Reacting to the decision of the California Supreme Court to ignore Proposition 22, which declares that “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California," and was passed with a whopping 61 percent of the vote, an outraged Michael Reagan urged California voters to join him in refusing to vote for any ballot measures in the State of California in the 2008 November election since the courts can simply nullify their votes whenever they want to.

Reagan, whose father Ronald Reagan served two terms as California’s governor before winning the presidency in 1980, said "I am taking my ballot and mailing it directly to the Supreme Court of California at 350 McAllister Street San Francisco, CA 94102-4797 to allow the judges to decide for us. They’re going to do it anyway.”

Reagan told Newsmax: "We have seen this time and time again, Democracy usurped, the voters wishes do not matter, whether its Proposition 187 or the Gay Marriage Ban, its no longer 'We the People,' it is now, 'They the Judges' who make the decisions in the Golden State. As the son of a former Governor of this state I am disgusted."

Noting that the courts have been thwarting the express will of the people, Reagan explained to NewsMax in an exclusive interview that “Proposition 187, a 1994 ballot initiative designed to deny social services, health care, and public education to illegal aliens that passed with 58.8 percent of the vote was overturned by a federal court, in effect telling the voters their will doesn’t count.

I'm disgusted with Ca., also.

With the sanction given to such a deadly perversion such as homosexuality, how can they stand against incest which is potentially dangerous for the offspring of legalizing marriage for them?

Regarding the decision of California judges concerning gay marriage, given that the judges not only had Proposition 22 in their faces, but also that Californian’s will likely consider a one-man, one-woman marriage amendment to their constitution in November, the judges’ decision reeks of pro-gay, special-interest PC.

Romans 1:25-27 tells us that same-sex sexual relationships are a consequence of idolatry. In other words, such relationships are a consequence of disobeying the 1ST COMMANDMENT, a major aspect of the GREATEST COMMANDMENT, to love the jealous God with all your being.

Homosexuals need to keep in mind, however, that the good news of the gospel is not about how God despises same-sex sexual relationships. In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that certain members of that church had been slaves to such relationships but had been cleansed in Jesus' name. So these former homosexuals had evidently repented and accepted God's grace to straighten their lives out.

Can it go to SCOTUS?

It's a state matter not in the jurisdiction of federal courts. It will probably become a federal issue when one of these "married" couples moves to a state that doesn't recognize homosexual marriage and wants their union validated anyway.

“I’m disgusted with Ca., also.”

This isn’t even a matter of being disgusted with California. This is a matter of being disgusted with 4 men in California.

Four men who with the people of the state have absolutely no mode of recourse. Four men who have decided that they control the state legislature and over-ride the votes of the people.

I think we’re seeing one of the great flaws in America’s legal structure at the moment. The fears the founding fathers had with respect to the tyrants of the judiciary are being brought to fruition.

Excellent article and I love Mike Reagan. However, it strikes me as a bad idea to quit voting in California because of this setback. Isn't there enough support to vote out the four activist supreme court justices when they come up for reconfirmation?

When I lived in California I remember Rose Bird being fired by the enraged citizenry who rejected her anti-death penalty decisions. Of course that was 22 years ago.

Here is what the poll of Californians seem to think. I am rather amazed that there is a fairly decisive majority in favor of amending the state Constitution and only a small plurality in calling the decision correct. http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=91f02a3e-babd-4dc4-92b3-507dd11d4944

When this goes to the Supreme Court under the clause that states have to honor the laws of other states, I wish some sharp lawyer sues California for not honor the laws of the other states.

That is the point here. One states unelected judges are imposing its will on the other states. That is very twisted beyond logic.

Nah, he endorsed McCain this year. Rush, Sean and Mark would crucify him for that and their hardline FReepers here would fall right into line and stomp all the purple out of him 'till he's blood red and unelectable (just like the three recent safe "red" Congressional seats that once were in conservative hands and were lost in special elections.)

If sexual preference is now a Civil Right, then how can we keep the laws on the books about prostitution. Some people prefer to pay for sex. That is their orientation.

I am just about to blow a fuse over this decision. But I'm going to keep my cool. We have a ballot initiiative coming up in November and I am going to do whatever is within my power to see that it passes by 80%.

In the meantime, I am going to get my earthquake kit filled to the max. Isn't it interesting that the San Andreas fault begins in San Francisco and ends in Palm Springs?

In Ma, they have tried a couple times to get this matter before the SCOTUS on the grounds that it states in the US Constitution, that every state shall remain forever, a representative republic, of the People of each state. MA citizens were not allowed to vote as was the constitutional procedure for Amendments. So the ruling and the prevention of a vote were both unconstitutional. In CA the People did vote, so that ruling by activist judges is in conflict with the same clause. Perhaps CA would have more luck getting it before the SC. That one clause (which # escapes ) ism where the court is overstepping it's And the fact that it is Judicial Activism in making law, should absolutely get it before the SC, it's tyranny against the people of those states by their own government, and thus a Federal issue.

In the early years of this republic we had an Executive branch with backbone, who would say of an activist judge "Justice Jay has had his say, now let him enforce it."

In MA both the Executive and the Legislative rolled over like whipped puppies.

This is about Mike Reagan and his fair weather conservatism. When it suits him, he will back a liberal like Schwarzenegger, Romney or Giuliani.

I for one think gay people should live their lives as a gay person. If they are gay, they are gay. I lost my “hate all gays” mentality a few years after high school. I feel if two gay people want to live together, go for it. Whatever floats your boat. I’m a person who feels we should all have freedoms.

I’m not gay and think it is DISGUSTING personally, but this is America and if they want to be gay, more power to them. What ever floats their boat.

HOWEVER MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN. PERIOD. CASE CLOSED. END OF STORY. They have the right to be gay, they have the right to have a fair life because they are gay, but they DO NOT have a right to get married.

This is completely mind blowing the CA supreme court would do this. (Actually, not really. I expected that stupid decision, we’ve already seen them do it time after time)

I don't believe in such a thing as gay people. It's not an identity like being black, but a series of nauseating and dangerous acts. It's the act that defines homosexuality (more accurately called men who have sex with men, but it's too esoteric to use such phraseology right now).
