Bush's appeasement malarkey (BARF)
Boston Globe ^ | May 16, 2007 | editorial news room

WHEN HE hinted to the Israeli Knesset this week that Barack Obama was an appeaser for being willing to talk to Iran, President Bush broke an unwritten rule against partisan politicking on foreign shores. He also displayed confusion about his own policies — and about the cause of his calamitous foreign policy failures. more stories like this

Perhaps Bush forgot that his ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, has been holding talks about Iraq with an Iranian counterpart. If so, there were Knesset members who could have reminded him. Israelis are intensely aware of the strategic gifts that Bush bestowed on Iran by toppling Saddam Hussein’s regime and empowering Iran’s Shi’ite proteges in Iraq. Indeed, few have done more to enable Iran than George W. Bush.

‘‘Some seem to believe,’’ Bush told the Knesset, ‘‘that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.’’ He was comparing unnamed appeasers of today to isolationists who thought they could negotiate with Nazi Germany and keep the United States out of World War II. Bush implied that Obama would be just that naive.

In reality, the likely Democratic nominee seems inclined toward a tough and prudent statecraft in the mold of Bush’s father and his secretary of state, James Baker. It also seems to have slipped the younger Bush’s mind that his own policy for keeping nuclear weapons out of Iran’s grasp is to encourage diplomacy along with mild United Nations sanctions.

The diplomatic discussions have been conducted between Iran and

WHEN HE hinted to....

No did not.

unwritten rule?

The president did not direct his comments to Obama. The narcissistic Obama inferred he is the subject. I think it's time to prosecute free-lance Dems (violates the 'Logan Act')who run around the world conducting US foreign policy without approval and kissing the feet of terrorist dictators - hello Jimmy Carter or Jim 'Baghdad ' McDermott.

Perhaps Bush forgot that his ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, has been holding talks about Iraq with an Iranian counterpart

This is not the same as the unconditional face-to-face head of state meeting with the 'head of terrorist of states as Obama wants to implement as US foreign policy that you dumb butts at the Globe are trying to spin.

Have at it there's plenty of BS here from the Globe.

Bush must have hit a real sore spot, the Dems have sure been out in force in the last day or so. I guess Bush has a way of getting under their skin.

I guess the truth really hurts

The editorial staff at the Boston Globe has nothing in common with Americans.

The President lobbed a rock in amongst the liberal coonhounds. The ones who yelped were the ones he hit.

"...broke an unwritten rule against partisan politicking on foreign shores..."

OMG! Can you believe this?

What "unwritten rule" are they referencing?

The one followed by Conyers, Bonior, McDermott, Carter, Pelosi, Jesse Jackson, Ted Kennedy and nearly every single liberal politician when THEY go overseas????

I am simply speechless. The gall. The unmitigated gall. They are completely without scruple.

The folks at the Globe are certifiable. Maybe somebody should have some back door negotiations with AlQaida to see if something can be done with their obnoxious little friends. The Globe’s total meltdown can’t be good for any of us ya’ know.

How many Democrats have blasted America's foreign policy and the Bush administration while standing on hostile foreign soil? Too many to count. For them to even hint at being offended is too idiotic to even answer.

Bush said nothing about Obama or any other Dem specifically. If Obama feels that he is the appeaser, maybe he should look in a mirror more often. How vain he is to assume that he is the appeaser. Or how perceptive.

For Obama to be so offended at the thought of appeasement, that tells me that his "dialogue" with tyrants would indeed be akin to appeasement, else why be so offended? Methinks the messiah doth protest too much.

Since the WH says the comments were mainly directed toward Jimmy Carter - who has actually met with terrorists - and not Obama (who apparently has not - yet) - I think the Obama camp over-reacted - or according to Shakespeare - “Me thinks thou protesteth too much”.

To: WHBates; All

I’ve been hoping somebody would put out a list of all the times the DEMOCRATS have been on foreign soil and have either badmouthed the President - or badmouthed America - or badmouthed our military.

The Clintons were some of the worst .. during the run-up to the Iraq war .. they were travelling all over Europe (on the pretext of hawking Hillary’s book), but Bubba was going to all the EU leaders and telling them to vote against Bush going into Iraq. Why would he do this ..?? Simple: He knew Russia and France had billions of dollars invested in the equipment and other stuff ordered by Iraq - which those countries had not yet received payment. If we went to war - these countries were not going to get paid.

That’s treasonous activity to me .. since this man was a US citizen and he was openly advocating against support for his own country. And .. since Hillary was on the trip with Bubba .. she was involved in the treasonous activity.

But .. the left and the leftist media didn’t mention those facts. I read about Bubba’s antics in an online UK newspaper.

Obama: "I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems, ....I will not weaponize space... I will slow development of future combat systems... I will institute a 'Defense Priorities Board' to ensure the quadrennial defense review is not used ..."

Then, there will be peace in our time without the evil republicans causing war!

My change is good for Muslims, Islamofascists, Black Racists, and Chrislims. $crew the Christians and real Jews!
