Gary Hart Hits Nazi-Like Neocons and 'Pre-Programmed Ditto Heads'

In light of the networks echoing Obama-campaign hypersensitivity on how Bush was allegedly comparing Obama to Nazi appeasers before the Knesset, as liberals suggest this is the lowest campaign tactic in years, talk-show hosts will probably notice that on The Huffington Post, it's apparently fine for that old Democratic campaign star Gary Hart to simply compare conservatives to Nazis, not to mention the authoritarian tendencies of those robotic "pre-programmed neo-conservative dittoheads":

Historians of early 21st century American politics will remark the degree to which radical forces, usually called neoconservatives, perverted language as recommended by the National Socialist Party in 1930s Germany. Continue to demonize liberals, blame them for all social and economic problems, and soon enough no one will be willing to admit to being a liberal. Claim that liberals and Democrats are too soft to combat terrorists and soon enough a majority, even in the oldest democracy on earth, will believe it. Open up entire electronic networks, such as Fox, and chains of radio stations, such as Clear Channel, and buy enough newspaper chains, and make all these media available to pre-programmed neoconservative ditto heads, and sure enough a subculture will emerge which distrusts its own government and believes that an entire political party is not to be trusted.

This has all happened before. And where it has happened, authoritarian government emerges.

What?? Conservatives build an alternative media (much of it during the Clinton years) to challenge a suffocating liberal media consensus, and it's a sign that America's on dangerous road to dictatorship? Does Hart seriously believe that during the Bush years, liberals haven't been trying to build a "subculture w hich distrusts its own government and believes that an entire political party is not to be trusted"?

From, there Hart shifted-gears in mid-paragraph to lament that liberal-pleasing McCain has morphed into a Bush Republican:

Worst of all, a formerly "maverick" Republican, one who was sensible enough to understand the dangerous perversions involved in this radicalization of American politics, will find himself repeating the idiotic mantra that we are "fighting al Qaeda in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here."

John McCain knows better. I know he knows better. But it is appalling when a serious patriot like McCain is forced to fall into line with these radical perverters of language, one of the most dangerous things that can happen in a democracy, in order to lead a party that is so far off the mainstream rails that it will take decades to return to civility and normality.

If John McCain seriously believes we are at war with al Qaeda in Iraq, that alone is such a serious error in judgment as to rank him with George W. Bush at his worst and therefore disqualify him from any chance to govern this country.

I don’t always agree with Rush, or any other conservative yakker 100% for that matter, but I am fearful of the Dems. wanting to go back to the fairness doctrine. Talk about perversion of the language. The “fairness” concept in the fairness doctrine will have the effect of shutting down people such as Rush. I want Rush and Hannity and the rest of them on the air.

Bill Clinton had complained in the past that Rush Limbaugh had three hours a day to attack him. This is when Bill was president that he said that. And Bill wasn’t thinking about the power of a president to make news and shape events on his own? He was that worried about what Rush Limbaugh was saying about him? And this was a Dem. president who in spite of Rush got elected and re-elected.

Just once I would like to see one of these leftist gasbags confronted on a live national talk show with an endless litany of all the vicious, nasty, preposterous, dishonest, uncivil, and yes (very often) unpatriotic slanders that have poured forth from the Demagogues in recent years. Oh, to see a TV host with the 'nads to say "I'd like to know what you think about these examples of 'civility' Mr. Hart" and just start reading a long list of outrages, until Hart blows up, melts down, and/or stalks off the set. I would pay big bucks to see that.

"Fairness Doctrine" = Arrogance Doctrine

The First Amendment exists in the form it does because it is not possible for the government to define "fairness" - or else the Constitution would demand "fairness."

The premise of the "fairness" doctrine is exactly the same axiom which is planted in McCain-Feingold - namely, that journalism is objective. Yet journalism is a product for sale - and to take journalists' word for the quality of their own product is naivete. Discard the assumption of objectivity which the Constitution does not make or allow, and the "fairness" doctrine is a naked emperor.
