I beleive we have some fake home-schooled diplmas running around.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There are “fake” government school diplomas everywhere. If a child is barely literate and numerate and a graduate of a government high school, then that diploma is **fake**!

I wonder if this ruling applies to Physicians, Dentists, Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Chiropractors, and other professions licensed by the state?

Hmmmm. . .I thought government agencies weren’t supposed to discriminate in hiring. Guess I was wrong.

This ping list is for articles of interest to homeschoolers. DaveLoneRanger has asked me to take over the management of this list. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping List. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added or removed from either list, or both.

You’re sorta right, sorta wrong

The recent event was a court ruling. But it was the court’s validation of recent enforcement activity of a California law against home schoolers.

California law requires kids to attend a state-licensed school. Previously, this law hadn’t been applied to home-schooled children.

Inch by inch, state boards of education are trying to shut down alternatives to government schools. It is, however, pathetic that this should happen in Tennessee, a state not known as a hot bed of liberalism.

Mr. Erickson is apparently not familiar with the lock the Dims have on the state level structure. The Repubs are mostly emasculated.

They are afraid these kids will take their jobs.

We homeshcooled.
My daughter’s friends got their own high school graduation program together for friends and familes to attend. They used the Church, everyone gave a speech of their thanks and life goals and achievements, and they had the youth pastor hand out -to each fully gowned student- diplomas which they made up for themselves, and had a lovely reception in the hall afterwards. All of the graduating HS students, but my daughter, had a 2 year college degree at that time, having attended jump start from age 16, through the state program. I refused to let daughterr do that, as for me, it was against my principles to have her attend government schools, and so she got her education after HS privately.

My daughter is now a HS choir teacher in a fully accredited Christian school, and is also a private voice teacher, and she a substitute teacher for all 12 grades.

A son we homeschooled is a practicing dentist, having graduated from the University of Washington dental school. He entered college with no HS diploma and only took the entrance exams to get in.

Good find.

Scott Milliken of Knoxville... said he finds himself in a similar situation after recently completing a hitch in the U.S. Marine Corps, including duty in Iraq. Milliken said he planned to take a law-enforcement course and become a police officer but now realizes he cannot do so because he was homeschooled as well.

"If I can go and fight for my country and take a bullet, why can't I be a cop?" Evans asked during an interview.

Indeed, Mr. Milliken. Indeed.

Look at this:

Tennessee homeschool law requires standardized testing and oversight by the public schools:

So much for their excuse that they don’t know if a homeschooler is receiving a quality education or not.

My wife was traumatized (not clinically, just observationally and admittedly) by the 1994 Northridge earthquake as we were living just one mile from the epicenter at the time of the quake and were thrown to the ceiling while still in bed.

The aftershocks numbered in the hundreds for the rest of the day with four of them registering over 5.0 on the scale.

After 10 months of continuing though ever-diminishing aftershocks took their toll on her comfort index she was offered a job transfer to Nashville and we have been here since.

We neither had been in the state before and were greeted on the day of arrival, my daughter’s birthday, November 17th, by a tornado at 6:00pm that evening just 19 miles to the south in Franklin.

My daughter completed 6th through 12th grade in the public school system as I had no job awaiting me and my employment chances were slim which made me a stay-at-home dad.

Nothing this roadkill-eating state does surprises me.

In the 13 years we have been here I have bought dozens of things at dozens of different stores only to find out over and over that there is just nobody here on the right-side-of-the-counter.

The article mentions fireman, policeman, etc. Those aren’t state jobs. They are local jobs.

From the first line:....will accept only less educated student applicants for state, county and city jobs in the Volunteer State.

I'm proud to say, my youngest daughter was homeschooled in Tennessee, and will NOT be working for any State agency.

Jerry Springer’s jokes and stereotypes about TN people should be increasing soon.

Where is the ACLU with their discrimination suit????

I am sure the American Civil Liberties for Liberals Only Union is applauding the move as more likely to provide increased opportunities for protected groups. On the plus side, here's another push to encourage the enlightened to just remove their brains and skills entirely from the government system. Having just quit my government teaching job this year, I say the homeschoolers and private schoolers won't be missing anything by NOT being employed by ineffective bureaucracy.
