" - and I ain’t buying it for McCain."

Amen bro.

I am originally a Reagan democRAT. Neither Ford, Dole or any of the Bush's betrayed their own party as much as McCain has. That is a fact that cannot be candied over.

Anyone who allows Obama into the Whitehouse is not only not a Conservative but that person is a liberal.

I couldn't agree more and therefore will never vote for any of three socialists in either party.

I agree this is extremely important. One of the few areas where Bush came through for conservatives was appointing Roberts and Alito. One switch from a liberal to a conservative justice would finally give us a conservative majority.

OTOH, a liberal Dim in the White House and a Dim Senate majority would make appointments to solidify the status quo for another generation. It would get even worse if one of the four conservatives resigned.

Sure, McCain might flub this, but my chances are a heck of a lot better with him that the 100% chance Hillary or Barry would nominate pro-abortion zealots.

It truly won’t matter who the next POTUS is if the next Congress in both the House and the Senate are truly dominated by socialists! McCain would just be a puppet without any political clout of his own if the next Congress truly is just a socialistic super-majority. McCain truly won’t be able to get ANY truly conservative judges passed by the socialistic U.S. Senate. THE ENTIRE POLITICAL MAKEUP OF THE NEXT CONGRESS IS TRULY MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHO THE NEXT POTUS IS, AND IT SHOULD BE THE MOST CONSERVATIVE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE PRESENTLY RUNNING FOR CONGRESS WHO FREE REPUBLIC AND ALL OTHER CONSERVATIVE SITES REALLY NEED TO FULLY CONCENTRATE THEIR EFFORTS ON FROM NOW ON!

and what if all you get is more Souters?

Then it won't be any worse -- and probably not nearly as bad -- as what we're certain to get from Hussein Obama.

McCains’ judges pick will come from a list provided by the then Senate Majority Leader.

The list will include Ginsburg II and Ginsburg III.

With his history of crossing the aisle and, once there, turning and giving us Conservatives the finger, I don’t think he’s going to ask for a longer list.

If I took as many leaps of logic as you just did, I could jump over the Grand Canyon. He's actually been decent on court nominees.

Spoken like a true Republican thinking that supporting conservatism to stop socialism instead of ceding one's conservative principles will some how further the socialist cause.

Worse, actually. I also believe that McCain will win the election handily.

I agree. If half the dems sit out, McCrazy could win by a huge margin. He then sees this as a mandate and future pubbies see democrap lite as a way to win elections. This would be much worse than an out and out brawl against Obama.

"Don’t pretend that we could ONLY expect sound judges from McCain..."

Nobody is pretending any such thing but one thing is certain, we absolutely will be getting more Ginsbergs with obama but with McCain we have a shot, a pretty good shot (based on his recent pronouncements) if you ask me of seating "sound judges" on both the SC and the federal bench.

That the anti-McCaniancs dispute this obvious truth shows they are being disingenuous in their statements and arguments...and are not to be trusted because there is a hidden agenda there somewhere.

If McCain can’t get real strict constructionist (conservative/liberal doesn’t really describe the difference—it’s strict constructionist/interpretive) justices confirmed, then why can’t he just refuse to fill the vacancy? There’s nothing in the Constitution that mandates 9 justices on the SCOTUS. Heck, if Ginsburg and Stevens retire, I say let’s just go with 7!

A few days ago I discovered the first genuinely compelling reason to actually vote for John McCain: he called for 700 new nuclear reactors for $4tn.

If I determine he means it, I think I might just vote for him.

based on his recent pronouncements...

How naive can you be? The man is a pandering, two-faced liar and you want to trust him based on recent pronouncements? Just look at his flip-flop-flip on illegal amnesty. He's already reversed his suspect comments about building the fence first.

I would only be satisfied if a conservative defeated any of the three Republicrat socialists.

Don’t worry the antis will be here shortly to turn that announcement into a socialist plot hatched by Kennedy.

Conservatives are wising up regarding the next president's nominating of new justices.

The reason that some of the liberal justices who are presently ready to retire but have not done so is the following. It is said that justices avoid retiring during an election year so as not to burden the country with nominee hearings. But also consider that retiring liberal justices are hopeful to be replaced by new Constitution-ignoring liberals by a new liberal president.
