The Decemberists, the Indie rock band that opened for Barack Obama's Portland, Ore., rally on Sunday that drew an estimated 75,000, often opens its own shows with the National Anthem of the now-defunct Soviet Union, according to Wikipedia.

The only thing that still amazes me about the left are the number of them that don’t admit to being Marxists.
Awesome video:
The same kind of terrorists who support Obama did this:

Never apologize for them.
Never appease them.
Never forget.
ohplease, ohplease, ohplease...may this happen on YouTube.
So what? The vast majority of the YouTube population is under 30. You think anyone under the age of 30 knows what the Soviet national anthem sounds like? You think anyone under the age of 30 can identify a national anthem of any country at all? Do you think they have any idea at all what the USSR was? It doesn’t matter, the sheep are being led to slaughter...
How fitting.
This could be a major embarassment for Osama, considering all his talk about talks with Russia and China, and Iran.
Well, like, um....okaaaaaaay....
sheesh!
It is a very stirring anthem, but I still favor the Czarist Imperial Anthem.
That is definitely the problem.
Comrade Obama and Comrade Axelrod have brought us Marxism and are selling it a crowd too inexperienced, too young and too indifferent to care.
bttt
Will The Decemberists be touring the remaing 56 states? We would be more than happy to provide a warm welcome here in good ole Virginia.
They know that they would be defeated soundly in the political arena if they expose themselves in a way that the common voter understands.
That’s why they put a smiley face on their fascism/communism and sell it to the people in the guise of “caring” about them.
Now Defunct Soviet Union... Don’t tell Putin that!!!
I’m just amazed that Wikipedia thought these no-talent boobs deserve an entry in their on-line PC encyclopedia. How many other garage bands are in there?
Putin restored it as the Russian national anthem a few years ago. It’s a catchy tune, admittedly. But of course Barry Hussein would never dream of opening his rallies with the American national anthem - phony patriotism and all that.
So, I guess it's up to us old soldiers to educate them. This is not an impossible task.
Russia now uses the melody from the Soviet anthem, and plays the old one on VE day.
Apparently Obama doesn't know what it sounds like, either.
I beleive they still use the tune but with altered words to reflect the change from the Soviets to Russia. I have listened to the anthem sung by the old Soviet choir. The music is truly inspiring. Change the words and it would be great perfect.
McCain=Obama /sarc
First the Che flag in Houston, now the Soviet anthem in Oregon. This is worse than Rev. Wrong, IMO!
They’ll go if they can visit the Communists in North Virginia...
I wonder. The Old Soviet Empire isn’t what it was, though Comrade Putin would like for it to be.
The 18-to-25 crowd I can understand being duped more easily by Obamessiah.
It’s those in the 25-to-45 that are voting for Obamessiah that concern me. They should know better.
The exit polls from Oregon on CNN.Com are quite interesting.
Don’t forget his Soviet styled “OBEY” poster campaign he ran contracting Shepherd Fairey to make campaign materials (for illegal nighttime posting in public places).
Rough sledding ahead. Get ready.
Hey, don’t let Barry hog all the attention. We must keep Operation Chaos alive!

“The only thing that still amazes me about the left are the number of them that dont admit to being Marxists.”
What amazes me is they are a bunch of lamebrains who just don’t understand the brutality of the Russian Revolution.
It was the original revolutionaries who were eliminated by the Marxists. The fools who play at being commies are the ones who make me sick.
Obama has flawlessly sung the Islamic call to prayer and called it one of the most beautiful sounds he’s every heard.
Someone should ask him if it is even more beautiful than the Soviet National Anthem.
It is a catchy tune.
If you can find and provide your source, that would be much appreciated.

Most astute!
The fact that Barry let a band called the Decembrists lead for him shows he doesn’t care about being called a Commie or is really, really politically inept.
*This* is a catchy tune - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lNFRLrP014 :-)
Good catch. A sea of Marxists with their “Change” posters. The change they’re looking for is turning Stars and Stripes into hammers and sickles.
Well, in all fairness it is a really cool anthem.
I was a little Jakarta street kid, he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics and more likely to be aware of their nationalism if he once studied the Koran with them.Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (itll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.
It is both amazing and frightening; and sickening as well, to behold; how easily this wolf hides who he really is.
"Why Grandmother, what big ears you have! (oops! Forgot,Obama says we cannot mention his ears!) So, okay. . . 'what big ears 'eyes' you have!. All the better to see you my dear. . .(mouth starting to glisten in anticipation of 'the kill')
Little Red Riding Hood figured it out before too late. I pray we do, as well.
I like that one too...but I also live in Alabama!
Obama is not running to be president. He is running to be dictator.
Well we’ve got him now!
No better friend, no worse enemy.
The Decemberists are actually a fairly “big” alternative band. They hail from the Pacific Northwest so methinks that a sizable chunk of people in the crowd came to see the FREE concert first, Obama second.
Now a confession: I love the Decemberists. I own their album “Picaresque” and there’s nothing like it in rock music: allusive, eclectic, folksy, and at times, beautiful. On another thread posted today, however, an interview with their guitar player was transcribed. It’s sickening. To call him an America-hater would be kind. So I’m torn. I really do enjoy their music, but I will never again spend one more penny on anything Decemberist.
As I said in the other thread: When will these losers learn to “Shut Up and Sing”?
As someone who used to dabble in New Left politics back in the long lost Sixties,I can tell you that we ALL hated the Soviet Union and we saw them as a perverse neo-Fascist dictatorship who twisted and perverted”real”Socialism.
Now its IS true that lots of deluded folks back then admired Cuba,Mao’s China,North Vietnam, etc but the Soviet Union?
They sucked.
The translation I put on my homepage is: 'No greater friend, no worse enemy.' Don't know the Latin so I'm not sure which is a better translation.
I liked 'The Dixie Chicks'.
Bummer!
Second confession: I like Milli Vanilli too. Hey, just because the two “frontmen” never sang, that doesn’t mean the music itself wasn’t catchy.
I blame it on the rain.
After all, not only will the next president automatically have war-time, Commander in Chief responsibilities, but this post (<-click), while addressing taxes, helps to explain why rookie government "leaders" like Obama are actually in contempt of the Constitution that they have sworn to defend, foolishly following in the footsteps of FDR's dirty federal spending politics.
In fact, the article referenced below shows that Obama is the #1 federal spending proposer in the Senate for '08; Clinton is #2.
Obama, a big-shot federal spenderAnd this post (<-click) exposes how corrupt justices then began using FDR's politically correct license to ignore the 10th A. to unlawfully stifle traditional family values, including the USSC's scandalous legalization of abortion in Roe v. Wade. Note that the post first references two non-abortion cases in order to show Roe v. Wade in a different, troubling perspective.
In fact, consider that the states have the constitutional power (10th A.) to authorize public schools to lead non-mandatory (14th A.) classroom discussions on the pros and cons of evolution, creationism and ID, as examples, regardless that atheists, separatists, pagan-minded judges and the MSM are misleading the people to think that doing such things in public schools is unconstitutional.
The people need to reconnect with the Founder's division of federal and state government powers. The people then need to wise up to the major problems that, since the days of FDR's dirty politics, Congress has not only not been operating within the restraints of the federal Constitution, particularly where constitutionally unauthorized federal spending is concerned, but the USSC has wrongly been ignoring the 10th A. protected power of the states to address religious issues.
The bottom line is that the people need to get in the faces of judges, demanding that judges uphold their oaths to defend the 10th A. protected powers of the states to address religious issues - or get off the bench. The people also need to send big-shot, Constitution-ignoring federal spenders like Obama home as opposed to trying to send people like him to the Oval Office. The people need to get in the faces of members of Congress, demanding a stop to constitutionally unauthorized federal spending while appropriately lowering federal taxes - or get out of DC.
Lincoln put it this way.
"We the People are the rightful master of both congress and the courts - not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution." --Abraham Lincoln, Political debates between Lincoln and Douglas, 1858.
