"I put them up on Saturday and by Monday they were all gone. The only one left up is in my yard," said local attorney Guy Wolf, who volunteered to help Frank Schmuck in his bid for the Arizona Legislature. Wolf put up the signs along Desert Foothills Parkway, Pecos Road and on Chandler Boulevard...
"I do have a funny last name," he admitted, "but this early in the campaign season?"
Schmuck is running as a publicly-financed candidate, which means that in return for not raising money from traditional donors he will get a fixed amount of public funding for the primary and, if he wins, the general election. So when people take his signs, they are really taking public money from the Arizona Clean Election Commission.
"You're not stealing from Frank Schmuck, your stealing from the public," he said.
Words to live by. Thankfully, looking at his Web site, Schmuck seems to have a good sense of humor about his name. And as a decorated Persian Gulf War veteran, you look like a mensch to us here at ExLg. Good luck with the campaign!

oy vey!
Years ago, I remember driving in the Peoria, IL area and seeing signs to re-elect Crook. Don’t recall for sure, but I think he was running for Atty Gen, or Auditor.
Reminds me of dentists and chiropractors with the name Dr. Payne. Very unfortunate line of work for them...
Schmuck for VP! McCain/Schmuck 08!
He’s the only schmuck on the ticket....
He’s the only schmuck on the ticket....
Guy does sound like a mensch, tho....
how ‘bout Dr, Borer?
Here in the Madison, WI area, we have a Dr. Bills. :-)
Geez. Several years back I changed my own last name for reasons that were far less urgent than being burdened with a monicker like “Schmuck!”
Oy Gevalt! Guy must be a real mensch to hang on to a handle like that. I bet his schoolboy days were no garden of sweets.
Importantly, Mr. Frank Schmuck (R), do you realize that your campaign signs, on a t-shirt, could make you a fortune?
You might make enough to run for governor.
For better or worse, that's a name someone will always remember.
I thought this article was about Schumer!
"Book?"
<}B^)
These signs haven’t gone away for good. They’re just being collected for the presidential campaign in the fall.
