The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former White House adviser Karl Rove as part of its inquiry into whether the Bush administration politically meddled at the Justice Department.

Accusations of politics governing decisions at the agency led to the resignation of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The subpoena issued Thursday orders Rove to testify before the House panel on July 10. He is expected to face questions about the White House's role in firing nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 and the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama, a Democrat.

Another abuse of power by the Democratic controlled Congress.

The name should be changed to “Star Chamber.”

No they won’t. At that point, they will escalate the investigation and start arresting people. You forget who you are dealing with. I would not be surprised if Obama had Bush arrested and turned over to the Hague.

I'd happily prepare a suit for abuse of process on Mr. Rove’s behalf. What a bunch of dip sh**s.

Tangentially, I was once the consummate optimist; now I'm desperate for anything to warrant optimism. For the love of God, conservatives must turn out in full force come November. We end up with president hussein obama, we may never again have any opportunity to reinstitute a working constitutional republic in this country. Maybe we're too far gone already. The largely unproducing masses (barack and hillary voters) have been delivered the key to the treasury by opportunistic democrats. How do we now protect private property and the fruit of our labors?

Love that AK’s governor is challenging the EPA over polar bear issue. There are one or two silver linings.

Why isn’t this bunch of miscreants in Washington driving legislation towards drilling for oil offshore Florida, Gulf, offshore California, Alaska, etc. and setting in motion the construction of a whole lot more nuclear plants? It’s insane what’s going on with this bunch of democrats and they’re vortexing us into hell.

John Conyers continues his quest (obsession)...

You've got that right. Conyers should be looking into why democrat voters in Michgigan and Florida aren't having their votes counted. The last time they went after Rove they ended up convicting Scooter Libby. The democrat leadership is filled with bitter bile and don't care who they get as long as they can somehow snag a Republican. The days of the loyal opposition are long over. Democrats are officialy the anti-American party.

I don’t know about that. My suspicion is that the conservatives and the GOP would just let it slide. Maybe Hannity and Limbaugh would spend a couple of days talking about it, but that would be the worst of it for the Dems.

Rove will ignore the subpoena claiming his consultations with the President on the issue fall under executive privilege.

The committee members will use that as an opportunity to grandstand, but it's extremely unlikely that they will ever try to prosecute Rove for contempt of congress for ignoring the subpoena. If they do, it will likely take over a year or more, possibly several, for the courts to determine if Congress has the authority to force him to testify.

At that point, Rove can then start with the "I don't recall" responses.

Since these are political appointees that were let go, there is nothing illegal about them being fired, even if it was for political reasons.

So the question is are they going to continue with a multi-year investigation that is looking into if Congress might want to make something the Executive branch did illegal in the future.

Not a chance.

This is being done for political grandstanding, nothing more.

“Since these are political appointees that were let go, there is nothing illegal about them being fired...”

That won’t stop the Dems. Scooter Libby was convicted of leaking the name of a covert agent who wasn’t really a covert agent. The facts mean nothing to these people. As long as they control the system and have the power to put you in jail, they will.

No. He is expected not to testify since anything he would have to say would be clearly covered by executive privilege. The demoncRats and their lapdogs in the MSM are then expected to howl through the November election about how Bush is like Nixon invoking executive privilege to keep Congress from learning about their evil doings.

The Republicans need to demand that subpoenas be issued to all of Clinton's staff to find out about the White House's role in firing ALL of the U.S. attorneys when Clinton took office, to quash then pending investigations of demoncRats.

Every Republican running against a demoncRat incumbent needs to make this a national race against the "do nothing, good for nothing" demoncRat controlled Congress.

Scooter Libby was convicted of leaking the name of a covert agent who wasn’t really a covert agent.

90% of the public probably believes that as well. It is not the case. Scooter was convicted of a "process crime" which had absolutely nothing to do with the original charges in the case.

Does anybody even know who Richard Armitage is?
