This says he was in the lead at one point. As you note, though, Romney spent much more than he took in.

Part of the problem was probably this, too:
Romney Used His Wealth to Enlist Richest Donors
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/06/us/politics/06romney.html
Planning on getting most of your money up front from rich donors was what Hillary Clinton did, too. For a while, the campaign is flush with cash. But the problem is, once they run out, they can’t go back to the same donors because those people have usually reached their donation limits.

That’s turning into one empty Straight Talk Express bus and the ride has to be bumpy by running over all those ex-stafffers and endorsers.

I guess the RINO relic can say with a straight face, I was again’ him, before I was with him, before I was again’ him again. Senators are idiots and it looks like one these three is going to be the next POTUS. But McCain looks like he is out there just as much being blown around in the political winds, as the Pickle Princess’s husband was being blown around when he was out there in spandex windsurfing.

Pastors of churches who publicly endorse should have their tax exempt status taken from them.

Thank you for shouting how McCain should ....

QUIT PANDERING TO THE LEFT WING!!!!

I’m not sure how McCain’s own version of Pastor-Gate applies to any of his left wing pandering ways, but whatever.

I’m also not even sure why this is newsworthy. Except that the MSM decided this non-story is somhow relevant.

I guess now McCain should renounce his 20 year association with Pator Hagee and turn his back on the church he and Cindy worshipped in.

McCain doesn’t even go to Pastor Hagees church, Hagee only endorsed him to let evangelicals know that he was acceptable as conservative choice I believe. McCain’s Pastor is at a Methodist church in AZ, it is more laid back, and not putting forth any publicity.

Agreed. That should also apply to churches that provide politicians a microphone in their sanctuaries.

Exactly. So why is one crack-pot pastor’s POV any big deal?

Hagee’s stupidity pales in comparison to Rev. Wright’s but the MSM will always pile on a Republican - even if he is a RINO - as they try to make a mountain out of a molehill.

I’ve read of the few instances where McCain and Hagee interacted, and to infer they hold similar political or religous views is insane.

Right you are, but you would think that McCain would have done his research on this nutjob. Instead of just having the Catholics miffed over Hagee, now they’ve got the Jews as well.

I’ll wait to see the usual suspects call Hagee a RINO now.

Exactly. That would be like saying because we are on Free Republic together our religion views are identical.

Rod Parsley also endorsed McCain and they dragged out some video of him saying something anti-gay..so because they are Pastors there will be videos not pleasing out there...excluding Wright who is a racist, hatemonger and radical marxist (BLT) former muslim; of which we know there is no such thing.

Now, as for Hagee it just made me angry when he made that Anti-Catholic rant...there are wonderful christians in all denominations that believe Jesus is son of God. And there are demons on every church bench too. We must not be naive and think all who go to church love God. So he and I parted company on that comment...but some of his stuff is really truth, excluding the catholic comment. I am glad he had to apologize, it must have been humbling. The Bible sayd “pride goes before the fall”.

I thought Romeny sunk many millions of his own money into his campaign.

As a “real” evangelical, I have nothing good to say about Hagee. He does NOT speak for me.

But Dr. Dobson on the other hand.....

He did, but he raised a lot, too.

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/

Romney raised 104,791,966, which is more than McCain has raised to date, but I don’t know if it includes what he (Romney) gave himself.

Interesting numbers, either way.

This is ridiculous but I must say, I find it most hilarious that the liberals are sitting around listening to old Hagee sermons in an effort to get Obama off the hook with Wright (no comparison). How many sermons did they have to sit through before they found this little gem? LOL! I’m going to be chuckling over the thought of this for some time to come. It is something to do since I have no horse in this presidential race.

I thought Romeny sunk many millions of his own money into his campaign.

I've heard something like $44 million of his own money.

McCain needs his money now, because he's ditched like half a dozen of his campaign staff because they are/were lobbyists, and apparently a lot of other lobbyists are getting really pissed off - they were some of his big money raisers. There was an article, forget which news organization it was, but it quoted a lobbyist who was friends of one of those fired by McCain as saying something like "what, we were good enough for John McCain in February, but we aren't good enough for him in May?"

So yes, Romney will be on the ticket.
