The Obama /Wright Slow Motion Train Wreck
The Daily Navvet | 23 May 08 | Navvet

Posted on 05/23/2008 1:32:30 PM PDT by NavVet

Count me among the millions of Americans profoundly disappointed to find out that Barack Obama spent twenty years warming the pews and filling the coffers of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Whether or not you support Obama’s political agenda, I think most Americans took some measure of satisfaction in seeing a successful national candidate who happened to be black, but whose candidacy was not defined by the color of his skin. In contrast to the previous efforts of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton, the early success of Obama’s campaign seemed to repudiate the race baiters who have made a living out of convincing black Americans that they are perpetual victims and white Americans that they are inherently racist. However, like many things that appear too good to be true, Obama’s post racial candidacy turned out to be just that. Post racial candidates don’t spend twenty years listening to racist sermons without a word of protest. Post racial candidates don’t ask anti-Semitic preachers to baptize their children, and Post racial candidates certainly don’t donate tens of thousands of dollars to a church whose pastor openly calls on God to “…damn America ,” and accuses the government of creating the AIDS virus for the purpose of killing black Americans.

Of course, the Reverend Wright apologists and Obama Kool Aid drinkers attempted to convince us that “It’s not what you think.” First there was the, defense that Wright had simply been “taken out of context,” as if there was some acceptable context for accusing white Americans of using AIDS as a weapon against black Americans. Then came the “crazy uncle” spin, omitting the fact that Obama chose to associate with this particular crazy uncle. And my personal favorite, “You can’t prove that Obama knew Wright was an anti-American racist,” as if it was humanly possible for the former editor of the Harvard Law Review to maintain a close personal relationship with Wright for two decades and not pick up on the true nature of the man. (Particularly when the average American took about 15 seconds to identify Wright as the Racist, Anti-Semitic hate monger that he is.) Maybe Obama did first darken the door of the Trinity United Church of Christ as a misguided matter of political expediency in an attempt to gain “street cred” as he launched his political career. However, the fact that Obama remained in the Church for over twenty years and subjected his young impressionable children to the twisted teachings of Reverend Wight can only mean one thing. As much as we all might hate to admit it, Barack and Michelle Obama apparently did not find Wright’s hate filled invectives objectionable. The lessons he was teaching, were ones the Obamas were comfortable with their children learning.

While it may be disappointing to most of us to find out that Obama’s image as America’s first “post racial” politician is a fraud and that he is in fact little more than Al Sharpton without the bullhorn and pompadour, the truly, and tragically, disappointing aspect of this entire controversy is that when you look at the video of Wright doing his best David Duke impersonation in the pulpit, all you see is a sea of nodding, approving faces. Indeed, the church is so proud of Wright’s racist rants that his greatest hits are available on DVD. Equally disturbing is that when Wright took his black separatist, anti-American conspiracy theories on the road at the NAACP convention and at the National Press Club, his hate filled diatribe was met with nothing but applause.

A year ago, whether you agreed with Obama’s politics or not, his candidacy promised to prove that America had indeed reached the point where a person was judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. However, after closer scrutiny, of the Obamas and Reverend Wright’s United Church of Hate, the only thing that the Obama candidacy has proven is that in 2008, Martin Luther King’s dream sadly remains just that. It is the dashing of this dream, just when it seemed within reach, that makes the slow motion Obama / Wright train wreck so painful to watch.

KEYWORDS: 2008; obama; racist; wright
The Fact that enough people to fill a Mega Church would actually pay to hear Wright's racist rants is more disturbing the rants themselves.

Sorry, but the “Wright” stuff doesn’t seem to have any traction among the Democrats.

I wish it did.

obviously a lot of people need to be continually reminded that obama is as much WHITE as he is BLACK

The fact is that Wright as annointed himself Pope of Black America and claimed that his opinions are everyones’.

And all you get are a handful of sotto voce disclaimers from people who should be standing up and shouting him down.

“America had indeed reached the point where a person was judged not by the color of his skin”

We are all way past that.....It’s his politics stupid!
If a black republican candidate ran and called for conservative principles and limited government, he would win in a landslide......

At least Revrum Wrong doesn’t pretend to not be a racist, unlike the DBM who pretends to be unbiased. The media is now brazenly and arrogantly conspiring to install an openly Marxist regime in the United States. We’re in real trouble.

When people pack a mega auditorium to pay to hear a racist speak. I don’t think you can say we are past the point where race matters. When Wright’s crazy anti-white theories are applauded at the NAACP, I don’t think you can say we are past the point where race matters.

"Sorry, but the “Wright” stuff doesn’t seem to have any traction among the Democrats."

It isn't Democrats that it needs "traction among". There is this bunch of voters called "independents" who comprise about 1/3 of the electorate that make a "slight" difference.

~90% of black Americans have voted for Obama. Please remind me again which race is it that is racist.

I disagree. Working class white democrats began deserting Obama as soon as the Wright story broke, and they are not coming back.

I think this has huge traction among the democrats that many elitists don’t think are “smart,” but whom I believe are blessed with a good deal of common sense. They may be misled by the media on many other issues, but this one see through the liberal fog and know the truth for what it is.

Obama is a racist, plain and simple.

Also all the folks I see frequent this site (I check membership, some have been on her for 5+ yrs) that are planning on giving Obama a free pass to the white house by not voting.

The lunacy/logic of some people never cease to amaze me.

He's far worse than Sharpton. Sharpton at least makes little effort to hide his beliefs. Behind Obama's calm, appealing smile there is an angry and bitter racist who, if given the chance, will attempt to "make things right."

Obama is quite a lot more than Al Sharpton. A lot more dishonest about what he really believes and a lot more polished presenting it.

Me, I'd rather have Al. Honesty is worth something.

I don’t think the Wright stuff has any traction among independents, either. Get ready for President Obama.

This letter was printed in the Bellingham (WA) Herald today. I believe, but can not be positive, that the writer is a retired History professor from Western Washington University. You’ll see an example of what you’re talking about. The liberals couldn’t care less about Re. Wright.

Title: Judging Obama by pastor irresponsible

“Suppose that you are an historian writing a biography of George Washington. First you read his autobiography. Then you locate his ample public papers and messages, including the 1796 Farewell Address.

Suddenly you stumble across a few old, wildly pro-British sermons by young George Washington’s Anglican pastor. Extracting a few fragments from the sermons plus a cute story by Parson Weems about a cherry tree, you decide to discard Washington’s autobiography, all of his formal messages and his entire presidential documents. Instead, you will expose “the real George Washington” by ignoring these primary sources and instead rely upon hearsay, rumor, myths and longforgotten sermons by a minister.

Such incompetence may pass muster in political campaigns, but any scholar in Western Washington University’s History Department performing such an irresponsible stunt would be out the door — with a swift boot in the rear.”

Excuse me, but Al Sharpton’s presentations are not about honesty, but more about raw arrogance.

If Sharpton were truly honest, he’d be wearing a swastika armband.

At least Obama realizes the need to be completely two-faced.

Do you know that Jesse Jackson so hated the white race, that as a young man while working in a restaurant he spit in the food of whites? (He admits it. Google it)

Check out this awesome video:

The same kind of terrorists who support Obama did this:

Equating an untested Obambi with Washington is only one of the many ways that this argument fails. It all went downhill after the word suppose. That idiot taught kids. Amazing.
