A JUDGE has allowed a 12-year-old Victorian girl to start a taxpayer-funded sex swap, despite objections from the child’s father.
The girl has begun court-approved hormone treatment in the first step toward a complete gender switch.
The Family Court orders also permit the girl, who cannot be named, to apply for a new birth certificate, passport and Medicare card in a boy’s name.
The application to allow the hormone treatment was lodged by the girl’s mother.
A state government observer, an endocrinologist, a psychiatrist, a family counsellor and a lawyer acting on the child’s behalf all supported the plan.
Only her father, who lives interstate, opposed the proposed sex change, though he did not attend the final court hearing and could not afford to send a lawyer on his behalf.

The only sane voice in this entire travesty, and the father is not in the child's life. Divorced, no doubt. Would his presence in her life have led to a different set of circumstances? I think it very well could have. So much selfishness in this world.
This is not insanity, it is chemistry.
In short, while still in the womb, it is likely that the brain of this girl was poisoned. Either by testosterone, or a testosterone-like chemical.
In mammals, including humans, about halfway through gestation, male fetuses excrete a small amount of testosterone that goes to their brain and tells them that they are a male. It is powerful enough to change the development of the brain itself.
By default, if that testosterone does not go to the brain of the fetus during that window of opportunity, the brain develops as a female brain.
If male fetuses are deprived of this testosterone going to the brain; or female fetuses are given testosterone, or a similar chemical, then the child’s brain will be of the wrong gender.
Importantly, in animals this determines sexuality, but NOT in humans, whose sexuality is far more complex. So the child may have a female brain in a male body, but still be sexually attracted to females, after they reach adolescence.
However, they will NOT like having the “wrong” gender, as far as their brain is concerned. Boys with a female brain will behave like girls, sharing the likes and dislikes of girls, and preferring to associate with girls; and visa versa.
Importantly, this appears even before adolescence. 12 years of age is not unrealistic for this realization, and the child may be as miserable as if its brain was in the body of an animal, like a dog. They want to be what their brain tells them they are.
And for those of you who are shocked by this, I have some very bad news: It is going to be happening more and more.
Since the 1960s, massive quantities of male and female hormones, human and animal, and especially plant male and female hormones, have been applied to our crops and released into our environment. Today, especially our rivers are terribly polluted with substances, a *tiny* amount of which can have powerful effects in our bodies.
The first concerns were raised in research universities back then, and though they reached some startling conclusions, it wasn’t until the late 1980s that the government performed its own experiments to draw the same conclusions.
And those conclusions are that cross-genderism is going to happen more and more. Girls are going to be born whose brains tell them they are boys, but even more boys are going to be born, whose brains tell them they are girls.
So we are all going to have to come to terms with an increasing human disaster typified by miserable children.
And believe me, it is *obvious* when a child’s brain is of the “wrong” gender. It is *not* learned behavior.
The great mystery is why it isn’t even more widespread.
What a nimrod! What if the girl has second thoughts after the age of 18 or 16, whatever the age of consent is in Oz?
You know, there were a lot of things I thought were a good idea when I was 12 years old...and I am really happy I did not act on them.
I hope the same thing doesn’t happen to this child.

It sure has, hasn’t it? This is just a follow-up on what is happening in CA and their madness of same sex marriage. Next step will be the general approval of the practice of beastiality.
I think that perhaps hormones and such in utero play a role in confusing people’s identity of themself. There are physical mixups that occur in nature (hermaphrodites), it only makes sense that there would be emotional mixups too.
That being said, I’m glad no one gave me what I *thought* I wanted at age 12 (ie, a movie star boyfriend, my own apartment decorated in pink and Hello Kitty, a chance to be in the Blue Lagoon with Christopher Atkins). Many females (especially tomboys and athletes) are dismayed at the thought of menstruation (WHAT???? Every month for the next 40 years??? Cramps and purses and now-I-can’t-go-to-Kim’s-pool-party-this-weekend.) It’s scary. Your body is going crazy and you have no control over it. You’re not a little girl anymore and yet not a cool teen. Boys are sniggering and noticing. You want them to notice and yet you’re embarrassed when they do. You’re happy one minute and crying the next and you have no clue why (damn hormones!)
The only good thing about this whole issue is that what they’re doing now is reversible and nothing that will be permanent until she’s 18. No surgeries, no reconstruction, nothing until then.
Last night, a relative of the child claimed the girl had been 'vindictively brainwashed' by her mother into making the decision to have the change. A cousin who stayed with the girl's family for two and a half years said yesterday that after a bitter break-up the mother had used the child to 'get back' at the father. 'She's been brainwashed from an early age,' said the cousin, who has to remain anonymous to protect the Victorian girl's identity. 'The mother drilled into the girl from an early age that she would have preferred a boy.'

Could too much medical insurance be a factor, as well?

I doubt it. Incidents like these are very attractive to the media, and get press whenever they are mentioned.
Otherwise, I would not be surprised if kids who have this problem end up in some very bad situations, both mentally and physically. Puberty would be nightmarish, and the problem would probably get worse in adulthood.
They are very deserving of sympathy.
Is this a girl who wants to be mutilated to appear masculine or a boy who wants to be mutilated to appear feminine?
It’s hard to tell from the story since journalists tend to be very lose with their use of gender related pronouns.
A boy who considers himself a “she” is enough for most reporters to refer to him as a girl!
I have had residents say to me that they wish they were a boy instead of a girl, but they are retarded!
and then off to a life of therapy because girls won’t accept her as a man.
