Clinton: RFK assassination reference unrelated to Obama
CNN ^ | May 25, 2008 | CNN

(CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday some people are using her controversial reference to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination to suggest that she meant something "completely unthinkable."

Her campaign also accused the rival Obama campaign of "inflaming" the situation and purposely taking her words out of context. But the Obama campaign said it was not trying to "stir the issue up."

Hell, Obama is so damned full of himself - that EVERYTHING is about him....

Obama is so over his head in the race - that America is at great risk of his election......

A fool elected by fools...

No Hillary fan, however let’s be fair. The statement sure makes a good sound bite. Yet the context in which it was delivered surrounds a question regarding why she was still in the race. She pointed out that the dems were still trying to determine the Nominee as late as June 92 as well as in 68. The reference to RFK was to jog memories that indeed he was still running as a candidate in June 68 and not the nominee. It was a point of reference only. No doubt poorly worded considering the political climate. Let her own party destroy her over this. They don’t need out help.

She's the one who brought it up. She didn't even have to mention "assassination" if her point was about a primary in CA in June.

In a taped meeting with the editorial board of the Argus-Leader newspaper in Sioux Falls, S.D., Clinton said: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California."

She brought it up. What a cheap way to get headlines, and even more air time in the hopes everyone'll want to cover her, so she can divert the subject and present herself as "presidential".

Can you just imagine what she'd say for "press attention" were she President? Egads, sitting with Israel and Palestinians making some off the cuff, casual comment reference the Holocaust, and then asserting everyone's taking HER out of context??

sheez.

Right. She's never called to account fort her behaviors, but by golly gee, is she gonna make Americans PAY for accountability. Especially if they are conservative and/or Republican. "Those greedy evil Corporations..." etc. etc. etc.

What's amazing is how everything is somehow accruing to obama's benefit. As if some Scriptwriter/Chessmaster somewhere has so positioned him that everything the opponent does strengthens his position.

Nonetheless, I see also the media bending over backwards to "publicize" Hillary's clarifications.

The whole thing would be hilarious if it weren't so pitiful. Her remark surely meant nothing, but it had to be spun so as to make a deposit of "righteous indignation" into obama's public-personna account.

And pardon freaking me, but why does that bozo get special Secret Service attention? It's as if he's been annointed already. And a piece in WAPO that found its way into today's NYPost went on and on telling us about our collective "fear" of an assassination. Excuse me?

Here's another thing Obama personnifies: that it's not about ensuring "equal opportunity," it's about creating a privileged class.

And to that, I say, "pshaw!" (you can quote me).

Rotten to the core.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Both of them. Hillery , everyone knows is rotten, and the why of it. Few know how rotten Obama is because the media will not print the truth about him: Kenya, August 2006, Obama campaigned for a Muslim relative (Odinga) who ALMOST took over Kenya in order to convert Kenya into a Muslim nation, then having lost the Kenyan election of 2007, Odinga's Orange Party committed genocide, in one instance burning a whole church full of Kikuyu. This is part of Obamas neo colonialist black nationalist power philosophy at work. One shudders to think what America has in store if Obama were to be elected POTUS. To tell the truth I would take Hillary any day over Obama.

Hillery is at least accurate , if rotten. There are hundreds of Kenyans of the Kikuyu tribe who would love to see Obama offed. Not to mention the Muslim extremists who have likely issued a fatwa for his death because of Obamas apostasy.

But so much for Hillery being Obamas running mate. Not likley now.

A point of reference?

She's studied law. She knew exactly what she was saying and to what purpose. This was no mere "slip of the tongue" or attempt to "jog memories". And it was the way she brought it up. And left it all hanging.

Now she wants to play as The Bad Seed, declaring she has no idea whatever happened to the missing tap shoe?

Obama is the ultimate "Being There" candidate. He offers sophorifics instead of policy, and folks all around him think he's the Second Coming.

What, IMHO, is really going on? Obama/Hillary=TweedleDee and TweedleDum. The MSM thinks its the Looking Glass pronouncing their own statement upon what it thinks of Americans.

True. But while I don’t think Barack is an honest man, his campaign is run as tho he is Chaunce the Gardener. The swooning over ridiculous statements he makes, which while sounding more like something uttered at a pep rally, is treated as tho it contains business/political acumen. No wonder Michelle tells him what to say... “Say nothing nicely - you’ll win in a slam, Americans are so stupid and ignorant and because we who’ve run Pub Ed for 30+ years have lain the groundwork for non-critical thinking skills. You’ll have this election in a snap. Just act like you walk on water! Talk about the seasons, trees, and the like and they’ll assume you are imparting a great wisdom about the economy!”

We predicted this once she was allowed to improvise in front of non-obsequious crowds without a carefully crafted script.

I heard the whole clip. The statement was not particularly alarming when heard in context of a response. No long pauses of disbelief from the reporter. I know Clinton can be calculating, but if she's so clever why make such a stupid statement? The Dems are simply feigning indignation to get her out of the race. Read my earlier blather and you'll see I didn't say "slip of the tongue". It was exactly what she was thinking. Just a poorly used reference in time, nothing more.

Can't argue that his rhetoric is more innuendo than intelligence; can't argue that he has "machinery" paving the way for him.

But he's gambling: the emotions he's stirring up oscillate in both directions. He came out of nowhere overnight and he can go back there just as fast.

But his machinery is very, very effective. Still, I think FR can be at least as effective.

I wish someone would keep posting that "Bamboozling" video compilation, that juxtaposes the Oman with all the previous people who's lines he's ripping off. It's chilling.

Chris Mattews, the Obamaphile of MSNBC, feels that Clinton was trying to insinuate that “something could happen” that's why she's staying in. That was the purpose of the assassination reference. I don't buy it. I think she honestly was trying to remind people how late the Dems process dragged out in 68’. November 1963 and June 1968 are clear points in time for many people.

Rotten to the core...One shudders to think what America has in store if Obama were to be elected POTUS...

THE OBAMA FILE - LATEST NEWS:

Debbie Schussel wants to know why Barack Obama claims he's against HAMAS and Hezbollah, but is meeting with one of Hezbollah's most important imams and agents in America, Imam Hassan Qazwini?

And wants to know why is this open anti-Semite and supporter of Israel's annihilation getting to discuss "the Arab-Israeli conflict" in a private, one-on-one meeting with Obama? What was said? I think we can do the math.

Qazwini is an agent of the Iranian government, spreading its propaganda. He was sent to the U.S. by Iran to help radicalize his mosque, the Islamic Center of America, which -- at the time -- was becoming moderate with women not covering their hair and mixing with men. All that has changed, under Qazwini.

Qazwini is very open about his support for Palestinian homicide bombings, HAMAS, and Hezbollah, and he's a good friend of Hezbollah spiritual leader, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah -- the man who issued the fatwa to Hezbollah terrorists to murder over 300 U.S. Marines and U.S. Embassy civilians in cold blood. Qazwini's mosque has held rallies and celebrations in support of Hezbollah, and many of Hezbollah's biggest money-launderers and agents in America are his congregants.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton called Clinton’s remarks “ominous” and “completely inappropriate.” “We will not be intimidated by Senator Clinton’s thinly-veiled threats,” Burton proclaimed. “We will say, though, that these remarks provide further support for the Senator’s deterimination to limit access to guns by persons who are demonstrably unstable or mentally unbalanced.”

Senator Clinton denied making any threat, “thinly-veiled or otherwise.” She went on to characterize her remarks as “hypothetical,” and “just a bit of friendly advice.”

She's studied law. She knew exactly what she was saying and to what purpose. This was no mere "slip of the tongue" or attempt to "jog memories".

I watched the whole long and dull interview, the money quote not yet having been extracted and YouTubed. It was mostly tedious policy wonkery about ethanol and Indian reservations and such. Towards the end, the editors asked her why she was staying in the race. The assassination reference was merely a note in the context of a standard-issue Clinton deception, namely that the fact that Bobby was still running when he was murdered in June meant that campaigns lasting into June is normal (and a justification for her continuing on). The deception lies in the fact that forty years ago the campaign season got a much later start. The editors didn't call her on her distortion of history. Nor did they react perceptibly to her use of the a-word.

So, intentional? I think not. She's plenty smart enough to know use of the assassination word in the Obama context would be a gaffe.

No, this was a classic thoughtless Freudian slip. She carelessly gave us a glimpse of what's in her head. Assassination is the one sure thing on the ever shorter list of ways she can still win it. She just let it out because it happened to be germane to the historical event she was deceptively adducing.

Cogent response.

The deception lies in the fact that forty years ago the campaign season got a much later start. The editors didn't call her on her distortion of history. Nor did they react perceptibly to her use of the a-word.

You've made my point here. Referencing RFK's (and BClinton's) campaigning as yet in CA in June would have been sufficient to make the point. If she had left her comments right at that point, it is possible others might have brought up your fact -- that campaign seasons got a much later start, then.

I've read elsewhere her recent assertion that she had Ted Kennedy's ailment on her mind which is what sparked (as a cause) for her JFK "assassination" sentence (which immediately followed the "campaign in June" issue) in addendum.

So, intentional? I think not. She's plenty smart enough to know use of the assassination word in the Obama context would be a gaffe.

If she is plenty smart enough to know use of the assassination word in the Obama context would be a gaffe, then perhaps indeed she was being utterly senseless in bringing up "assassination" in re June campaigning.

No, this was a classic thoughtless Freudian slip. She carelessly gave us a glimpse of what's in her head. Assassination is the one sure thing on the ever shorter list of ways she can still win it. She just let it out because it happened to be germane to the historical event she was deceptively adducing.

I concede to this point you make, and well. I have never asserted she "gaffe'd". Thoughtless Freudian slip might cover the matter. Looks like that's how she's currently spinning it.

I'll not argue with your points; save to assert that a President cannot afford such luxuries as reflexive "gal pals having lunch" assertions or "poorly used reference[s] in time".

I still have original newspaper clippings from the time of RFK's assassination. I do not, will not ever see the sense of his being assassinated reduced to a "campaign season in June in CA".

I think about the Presidential Candidates we've had in the past, and when I stack up Hillary and Obama next to them; I'm horrified.

If either of these gets elected, God Help and Defend our Military.

Really simple. The Democrats have very specific pegs based upon race, sex, money.

Not each of these groups have yet been fully "performed" for by the Democrat Presidential Candidates.
