Does Mike Huckabee still read Free Republic? (vanity)
May 27, 2008 | Kurt Evans

Posted on 05/26/2008 10:25:11 PM PDT by Kurt Evans

Early on January 22, I posted the following to Free Republic: "In my opinion someone definitely needs to get word to Governor Huckabee that his unholy alliance with Senator McCain isn’t ultimately going to work for anyone, except possibly their Democrat opponents."

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1957488/posts?page=1#25 (post #25)

On April 25, this was the featured Huckabee quote at Google News: "Sometimes I got accused of being in collusion with him during the course of the campaign — that we were somehow forming some unholy alliance."

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/5731969.html (fourth paragraph)

Did Governor Huckabee get word about the "unholy alliance" or was that just a coincidence?

Going chalk that up to coincidence.

Establish a pattern of him using the phrasings of other posters on FR and you may be on to something.

Oh, I don’t know if Huckabee needed FreeRepublic to confirm what was going on. I’m sure he heard about that from all different directions. It was blazingly evident that Huckabee had teamed up with McCainiac to dogpile on Romney. The two were so obvious about it as to be snickering at one another in the debates. Very immature stuff, but obviously the teams had been formed.

I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who noticed. You heard the exact same talk on RedState and Politico, as well.

The phrase "unholy alliance" is pretty common in that context. Occam's Razor points to coincidence.

Post something more unlikely, such as "nattering nabobs of negativism", and if that subsequently shows up in a politician's speech, then you have more of a case.

Or else someone will accuse you of being William Safire. ;-)

At the age of 44, I've heard that in at least 20 movies and probably countless TV shows.

By the time it was over, it looked like Romney versus everyone else. For the record, I'm unhappy with James Dobson for convincing me to keep an open mind about Romney as long as I did:

Well, he's played at the Freeper hosted inauguration balls in 2000 and 2004. After his treatment here during this last election run, you may be right that he's not lurking though.

"BARR ’08 -- Brilliant. Right up there with 'Perot '92.'"

I campaigned for Bush 41 in 1992 and Howard Phillips in 1996. By the way, that thing about Perot costing the Republican Party the presidency in '92 and '96? Rush Limbaugh made that up.

"Gomer Huckleberry needs to find a nice little church to pastor and leave politics to people who know what they're doing."

He's a brilliant tactical politician. He just needs to stop believing in "benevolent" government. He'll come around.

"Oh, and Barr ‘08 is just Obama ‘08 spelled differently."

Not really, but McCain '08 is McCain '08 spelled the same.

His kids seem to have great personalities. If Sarah wanted to marry me, she probably could. (She's older now than she was in that picture.) If you're here, Huck, I'm pretty sure Governor Rounds would vouch for my character. Or not.

To be fair, that quote is from February 2001, long before Ann and Rush taught us that distorting his family name constitutes "humor"... There are still some pretty good jokes here once in a while though.

In 2008, true conservatives have a clear choice: sense of humor or self-mutilation.
