Conservative and Republicans should be careful how they write about Wright

The campaign of Barack Obama for president has raised the issue of race in ways that it has not been raised in America for some time. This is primarily the result of the sermons of Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the pastor who preached to Obama and his family for 20 years. The incendiary rhetoric of this pastor—with its anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, neo-Marxism, black liberation theology, and even racism—is something that Barack Obama cannot escape, even though he himself did not utter the words. He cannot escape because these issues of race remain a festering sore on American society, the healing scab of which is continually torn open, for political gain, by the Democrats and the rest of the left in America.
A few weeks ago, America went through what could easily be called the Reverend Wright Period. Nearly everyone was analyzing his speeches, questioning the association, or—in the case of Obama’s cheerleaders in the MSM—trying to claim that such talk had no place in the campaign.
Those issues were hashed and rehashed, and will probably come back to the surface before this is all over. I’d like to talk about something different.
I’d like to talk a little about some of the writings I’ve seen coming from our side in response to all this: from conservatives and Republicans. Some of those writings, unfortunately, tended to point the finger in the wrong direction. In some cases, the reaction focused on a “black thing” rather than an ideological thing. That was a mistake for a series of reasons...

I think we should judge Obama by the content of his character rather than the color of his skin. Why do we have to complicate it?

If you buy into the AmRen idea that there are inherent group differences in the races then this authors argument might make sense. The Dems are taking advantage of a group that is less able to understand history and nuance.
I don't buy into that, so to me I feel justified in treating black politics with the contempt it deserves.
