Muslim Obama: ‘WILL STAND WITH MUSLIMS SHOULD POLITICAL WINDS SHIFT IN UGLY DIRECTION’
American Conservative ^ | 03.29.08 | Grant Swank

Posted on 05/27/2008 12:44:43 PM PDT by OnRightOnLeftCoast

This is what Barack Obama said following 9/11: “In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

I think it shows just how proud we can be of America and Americans that after 9/11, there was so little anti-Muslim violence. No riots, no cars burning in the streets, no Muslim shops on fire, no Arab-American bodies hanging from lightposts. Muslims riot over silly cartoons and teddy bears.

Of course what happens when the sand people inevitably detonate a nuke on US soil is another ballgame.

Yeah, I noticed that you had subsequently posted the real quote. I’ve seen the misquotes spammed all over the threads here. They were so outrageous, I researched it last night to find that it was a complete misrepresentation of his words.

There are so many things to legitimately critize about Barrack Obama, this kind of hyperbolic junk just makes folks look like reactionary lemmings that will buy into any propaganda.

I think we would all like reassurances that their citizenship means something.

That they respect the rule of law as it exists and not Sharia law as they would like. That they respect American
tolerance for all religions under those laws and learn to respect the sacrifices made by Jews & Christians, in uniform and in service to the freedoms they enjoy.

I would like reassurances that they are making efforts to spread the idea of American freedoms to other Muslim relatives and friends throughout the world and decry the barbarism that Islam’s fanatics are promulgating.

It would make a great deal of difference to me for several reasons, one of which would be his reason for covering it up.

Comrade Obama is a lying Marxist menace.

Urban legend

See http://www.israpundit.com/2008/?p=1125 "Barack Obama: Just the Facts, Please. Urban legends help Obama while hurting McCain and therefore our country" There is plenty of stuff wrong with this guy. Urban legends and out of context statements dilute the truthful material and make it less effective.

Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. “The Audacity of Hope,” page 261 (paperback version)
This is the actual quote, and I don't have a problem with it. What FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT (D) did to Japanese-American citizens was shameful.

Well, according to this article, his true full name is Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama:

So would I. I believe those are demands of all immigrants who take the pledge of citizenship, are they not? If we find that any group is not sincere in those pledges, we need to change the immigration and citizenship rules.

Are (Arab) American citizens to be denied freedoms until they prove to you that they have taken some additional overt action as you have described? What other "reassurances" would you suggest? Will other classes of citizens be required to provide you these additional "reassurances" as well?

That is one message, clearly! Another will simply be, similar to Kennedy’s meeting with Kruschev in Vienna, his obvious weaknesses. Kruschev saw Kennedy as a weak president so began his ‘attack mode’ (Cuba, et al). Weak Presidents give us attacks...Strong Presidents give us security. Other than McGovern, Carter, [TankShrimp](can’t ever remember his name), Mondale, Clinton, and Obama, I can’t think of any weaker presidents/candidates.

His birth certificate has not been made public.

My understanding is that Hawaii only releases birth certificates to the person.

A marriage license would also be interesting to find.

His own father and mother’s wedding in Hawaii may not have been properly documented. “How and when the marriage occurred remains a bit murky, a bill of particulars that I have never quite had the courage to explore,” Obama writes in his memoir.

Yep, the arabs just don’t realize how lucky they were that Bush was president! Who else would have given the American Muslims the level of protection they got, and limited bombings to Afghanistan and Iraq?

Are you the speech/thought police?

I didn't write the article. The last time I checked, FR is a site to post and exchange opinions whether you argee or not.

After posting it, I Googled the statement noticing other sources have the same sentimnt as the source of my post. Nonetheless, I found that it came out of his book and posted it BEFORE your snarky challenge.

A more relevant remark would be to question if Hussein would feel that way then as CinC when something turned ugly against our country by muslims.

Well you can make an endless conundrum out of any statement. Mine was quite explicit and limited.

I made no demands - just asked for reassurances, which have not been overwhelming.

Did I demand any punishment, internment or denial of freedoms?

You need to calm down and call Obama.

Speech/thought police? No. I didn't think commenting on the inaccuracy of an item qualified as policing thought.

Snarky? I'm sorry if you interpreted it that way. I specifically mentioned the SPAM being put on other threads--I was not speaking of your post. I was glad to see that you found the inaccuracy of you post on your own. One wonders why you think other people are snarky for pointing out what you, yourself, found.
