Home Deopt plans to celebrate Gay Pride...(Vanity...Utah)

Posted on 05/28/2008 11:36:20 AM PDT by The Axis Effect

A Home Depot store in Utah plans to celebrate Gay pride in the Store with decorations of Rainbows and employee Tee shirts announcing gay pride. Inside sources say that this is something that will be devastating to business as most of the customer base tends to be on the Right side of the issue as they are mostly religious people. I am actively involved in this business and i dont want to be a part of it bacuae this is contrary to my belief and would like advice from more experienced FReepers on how best to disrupt these outrageous plans...

what is more important, paying your bills or sending a righteous message?

Are you joking? What are you, 15? You'd quit your job just because a bunch of people want to wear rainbows to work one day? Really?

Careful, I was almost sent to sensitivity school for refusing to celebrate gay pride where I work. I used all the right buzzwords, too; hostile workplace, violating my civil rights, religious discrimination, etc. I couldn’t win considering the dyke HR rep we had at the time.

Target’s similar internal campaign is on their own internet website.

By your logic since it IS on the web it must not be true.

http://sites.target.com/site/en/corporate/page.jsp?contentId=PRD03-002096

Calendar June - Gay and Lesbian Pride Month

They’ve had more online in the past. Perhaps they still do. This is a redesigned site with more Flash and fewer active links.

The bathrooms at the Home Depots in Miami were notorious gay cruising areas a few years back. Even made the news when I lived down there.

No, I would not permit such a trivial event to force me quit my job.

Did you find a link about Home Depot workers wearing Gay Pride shirts yet?

I am surprised someone hasn’t posted a “how is babby formed” post on FR yet, It would probably get 1000 serious replies.

Blessings on thee for having to abide in the Bay State.

What a pathetic slew of ne'er-do-well, pompous, pontificating, putrid politicians!

How is your ulcer? Fully developed or still working on it?

HE said he works there. Why assume he is a liar? Nothing about this sounds suspicious to me, quite par in fact.

Is this coming from management? Or is it just something a few of the workers want to do? If it’s just something a couple of workers want to do, I’d ignore it or you’ll eventually be accused of some sort of harrassment. If the store manager is involved, you could possibly have some sort of claim about it being a hostile work environment, but personally I’d talk to an attorney before I went and made a stink to HR or whomever. It’s your livelihood, you’ve got to be careful.

Is this a corporate wide event or just limited to the location where you work?
