Rendell: Clinton 'Very Unlikely' To Win

May 28, 2008 3:01 PM

ABC News' Rick Klein Reports: Staunch Clinton campaign supporter Gov. Ed Rendell said Wednesday that his favored candidate is "very unlikely" to capture the Democratic nomination, and said that will mean Democratic Party will nominate the weaker candidate for the fall campaign against Sen. John McCain.

Rendell, D-Pa., told Bloomberg Television that he believes polls that suggest that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is a "far better candidate" than Sen. Barack Obama in swing states. But he added that he's a "realist" who recognizes that superdelegates are likely to continue to flock to Obama until he clinches the nomination.

"I'm a realist, and I think most likely the superdelegates will give Sen. Obama the votes he needs," Rendell said. "I don't think the DNC is going to fairly adjust what happened in Florida. . . . I don't think they’re going to fairly adjust it. So I think it's very unlikely that Senator Clinton can prevail. I think that means we're not going to field our strongest candidate."

“I think that means we’re not going to field our strongest candidate.””

S’ok, we’re not fielding our strongest either.

He's talking to the SD's in this piece. It's wink-wink, nod.

If fast Eddie is throwing in the towel can Lanny Davis be far behind. (Has he been embarassing himself on TV lately or what?)

LOL, he's taking seriously the reports that he'd be on the short list of obama VP candidates.

How long til he kisses hillary! goodbye?

she can say she is the better candidate.

Rendell and his cronies can say the same. But....so can Obama and his campaign staff.

So, what’s the point? She thinks she is better in EVERYTHING. She’s finding out now she is NOTHING.

Lanny’s been quiet... most likely, he’s waiting for Obama’s response to his resume.

Many of the delegates and super delegates to the Democrat Convention are not from Pennsylvania.

This means Fast Eddie doesn't know whom to bribe, and that the votes will be cast by actual, real, live people. In all likelihood, each will only vote once.

All of this is new and confusing to Fast Eddie. Perhaps a sit-down with Mayor Slick-Dickie Daly and Donna (Just get me Close) Brazile, is in order.

Never sell Fast Eddie short, though. His mastery of election chicanery is such that if he wanted to, he could assure that Lassie were the Democrat nominee.
