First it was the film and the book. Now the next stop for Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” is opera.

La Scala officials say the Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli has been commissioned to produce an opera on the international multiformat hit for the 2011 season at the Milan opera house. The composer is currently artistic director of the Arena in Verona.

Other suggested titles: The Liar of Seville; La BoPrivate Jet.

So the Italians just want their own version of Gotterdammerung. This could be turned into quite a funny satire if they did it right - Brunnhilde (Nancy Pelosi or Hillary) doublecrosses Siegfried (Barack Obama) and then sets off a fire which brings down Valhalla (populated by Wotan (Al Gore) and other Democrat elites). I wish I could write the script.

Wotan (Al Gore) would sing a long Italian aria, with lots of flourishes, as he and the other Gods become toast.

Oh I wish.
