ABC kids' website shows Aussies as pigs

AN ABC website has been accused of portraying farmers and forestry workers as evil, and telling kids how much carbon they can produce before they die.

The Planet Slayer website, which can be accessed via the science section on the ABC home page, also demonises people who eat meat and those involved in the nuclear industry, a Senate estimates committee heard.

The site has several features including a cartoon series, Adventures of Greena, and a tool called Prof Schpinkee's Greenhouse Calculator to help kids work out their carbon footprint.

The calculator lets users compare their own carbon output to the "average Aussie greenhouse pig" and estimates at what age a person should die so they don't use more than their fair share of the Earth's resources.

Be sure to take the test at the Greenhuouse Calculator to figure out when you're supposed to die. My pig burst into a pool of blood and I was told I was supposed to die at age 2.7 years.

Nice website for kids. [/sarcasm]

Yes, the website is for real. I probably should have noted that the "ABC" here is the AUSTRALIAN Broadcasting Co. But here is the Australian ABC's homepage.

This is one evil website. To those Environazi blankety blanks. I plan on living to a 110 just so I can pour a million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Yet another sign that the environmentalists are heading down the path of genocide. They will borrow their “final solution” for global warming from a vegan who died 63 years ago.

I notice they give the greatest weight by far to the last question. You can be the hugest of energy pigs, but if you put enough $$$ into green businesses, you’re given complete penance, apparently.

The whole thing is a scam. Note that on the last question ALL your “sins” can be absolved and you can live nearly forever if you pump $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ into “Ethical” and “Evironmental” causes.........

Abtually it';s the two last questions. Nothing else makes much difference, but spending money really cuts your life down. But even then you can live forever if you give 35% of your wealth to the Church of the Environment.

Conversely, even if you have the most "enviro-friendly" lifestyle, they still want 30% of your cash to permit you to live.

I always thought "green investment" was a scam.

Well I ran Al Gores figures through and he should have been dead at 14 months, if that makes people feel better.

Seriously, this website is, I think, the most thoroughly disgusting, immoral and politically biassed thing I have EVER seen. EVER.

"ABC managing director Mark Scott said the site was not designed to offend certain quarters of the community but to engage children in environmental issues."

This reveals a common tactic of environmentalists - demonize those who disagree with your agenda. By portraying your ideological adversary as less than human, it is so much easier to hate them and justify harm aimed in their evil direction. It is the antithesis of a tolerant, open minded exchange of ideas, opinions and facts. In any other society it would be called indoctrinating young and vulnerable minds with hate and prejudice.

Now I ran those figures and I included taxes I paid to run the EPA, as well as the mixed investment in my 401k,running a fuel efficient car, amongst other things. Without significantly doing anything in particular to support the greens, I still brought my carbon footprint down. Just think of the proportions of fed, state, local taxes that each of us pay that go into enviromental concerns and you end up passively reducing your “carbon footprint” by appreciable amounts!

I didnt think of the taxes, but even so, my carbon footprint was still way ahead of average. What I object to is the phrase “what age you SHOULD die at?” These characters will be introducing euthenasia for “climate criminals” next.

My pig burst into a pool of blood and I was told I was supposed to die at age 2.7 years.

My superior empathy for the plight of mother Earth carried me beyond 2.7 well unto the ripe old age of 3...

Right before my pig exploded into a squeeling mass of squirming body parts, entrails and the like in a steaming pool of blood.

CRIKEY!

Yeah, I didn’t like the suggestion of early death or euthanasia.

I’m reminded of a couple of huge enviromental studies authored in part by Al Gore himself, for the UN or some such NGO that looked at the enviroment, global use of energy and elements, and development of emerging economies, suggesting that some of these economies be suppressed and suggesting that 2/3’ds of the population be shrunk to 2 billion or less in order to have sustainable levels of population.

There was no suggestion as to how the population would be shrunk(one could read between the lines) though the command and control structures would be much more fascist and less subject to democratic/republican(small r) amelioration in the future world order.

I managed 25.3 years, and have been doing for, well, forever really. That doesn’t cut any ice with the environmentalists though. Actually, I’m probably in a worse light than the rest of you. How can someone with a lower “carbon footprint” than 90% of people in the west (including enlightened environmentalists) still think global warming is nonsense and that the enviro lobby is a dangerous luxury? It is one thing, after all to be an enemy, quite another to be a “turncoat”. :) /sarc off

Nice website for kids.

The creators of this site must have taken a page from those Palestinian children's TV shows where the counterfeit Mickey Mouse gets killed by an evil Jew or American.

I noticed something interesting about the pig calculator. All questions have a slight effect on the outcome, but question #10, "How much money did you spend last year, all out?" can cause your piggishness to increase up to 20 times.

By this calculator, you could drive a car, fly, eat lots of meat and still not be too piggish, as long as you did not spend any money.

If this is not clearly an economic propaganda against capitalism, I don't know what is.

Yeah they have some weird choices. - It's better to take taxis than ride a bicycle, because if you rise a bicycle you will have more disposable income to spend on something else, and spending money is always bad.

But at least they admit that recycling does so little good it ain't worth the effort.

AN ABC website has been accused of portraying farmers and forestry workers as evil,

Great, let me know when the producers of this show are growing their own food and making their own paper.

BTW, I took their calculator quiz and even though my answers were mostly green friendly (no flying, small house with 4 people, low utilities, recycle) my pig died after 5.4 years. Heck, I even put down that my power comes from a green source because I live less than 40 miles from a nuclear plant. :-) After playing with the calculator I found that the ONLY way to get the pig to live to a ripe old age is to say you spend less than 25% of your income on "ordinary stuff" and more than 25% of your income on investments in green companies.
