McClellan not sure about McCain, intrigued by Obama
Scott McClellan, making the media rounds to promote his book and push back against the ferocious counter-attack by Bush loyalists, declined to come out tonight for John McCain and said he liked what he had heard from Barack Obama.
"I haven't made a decision," McClellan told Katie Couric on CBS's "Evening News," when asked if he was backing the Arizona senator. McClellan paid homage to McCain, saying that the Republican nominee had "governed from the center, and that's where I am."
But without prompting, he said he was "intrigued by Sen. Obama's message."
"It's a message that is very similar to the one that Gov. Bush ran on in 2000," McClellan said.
He offered similar comments about Obama on ABC's "World News Tonight."
In his book, the former Bush spokesman describes his upbringing in a house where his mother was the moderate Democrat mayor of Austin (Carole Keeton Strayhorn later became a Republican before running as an independent for governor in 2006). McClellan recounts how, when he first came to work for Bush in 1999, he admired the governor's willingness to work across party lines in the Texas capitol.
McClellan is the third high-profile member of Bush's original Texas circle to express interest, if not support, for Obama. Matthew Dowd and Mark McKinnon, both top-level advisers in Bush's 2000 and 2004 runs and former Democrats, have also praised the likely Democratic nominee.
Is Scottie on some kind of anti-depressant ?..say Zoloft, Prozac or Paxil... I think he has over medicated.
Talk about a “man” without a country! After the DBM gets through BuFuing him, he’ll drop into the abyss.
Yet he's thinking about voting for B. Hussein Obama? This is one very confused individual.
if scottyMcboy heard Britt yesterday of Fox he would be........Hume lambasted him like no one else.......I was roARing with laughter.
Well, if Craig Livingston could find a job in the Clintoon administration, I guess McClellan might find a spot in Barry’s. What a loser.
Maybe he’s dating David Brock now.
Who gives a flying rats rear WHO this guy votes for! Who in the world does he think he is, or that his opinions mean anything to anybody. He’s just a very disturbed, fat twit who needs to crawl back under a rock and stay there...permanently! Sheesh! What a dufus!
My theory is Bush hung his staff (except Cheney) out on Plane/Wilson Investigation, and McClellan felt betrayed and said to himself, “Why not get my payback this way” so now he is a star on MSNBC (was on nut-bag Obermann last night, what’s that tell you about him???) and rats will run out to buy the book that ‘confirms’ everything. So he just repeats liberal talking points on MSNBC and is a star.
I do think Bush Cheney deserve punishment for that Plane /Wilson mess and making it easy for procecuter to hang his people. I feel sorry for McClellan, but not any respect.
HE’SIDIOTIC
I don’t know how anybody can be “intrigued” by Obama’s “message”. He doesn’t have a “message”. Other than he’s an obvious poser with an extremely liberal record.
The worst press secretary in modern history might vote for the worst candidate in modern history. What a surprise! Maybe Scottie is auditioning for Junior Deputy Assistant Under Secretary for Public Affairs at the Bureau of Mines in an Obama administration, though he’d still be in way over his head.
Is it true that the publishing compnay has ties to felon George Soros?
This should be posted on the ‘ Offical Silly Friday’ thread.
little Snotty is certainly enjoying his 15mis of fame...

Surprise, surprise, surprise....
What is it about people named McClellan that naturally will let you down betray you. Lincoln learned it, too bad Bush didn’t!
Hold on, Scotty. McCain may want to make you his VEEP.
"Gee... It sure would be too bad if he was to have some kinda accident or sumtin'."
I think he GAY!
Since Scott McDupeDope thinks the Bush administration stinks, why would he want to vote for someone who currently makes "similar" promises to the electorate?
Scott McDupeDope is a bundle of contradictions.
You have GOT to be kidding!! Cheney or Bush had NOTHING to do with the Plam affair, however the CIA and the State Dept. and Enemedia were CABALISTS trying to OVERTHROW the BUSH GOVERNMENT! Good freaking grief!
Rino chickens coming home to roost.
And just because I won’t support the sack-o-doo-doo McCain doesn’t make me a Obama supporter.
Blind sheep following their RINO leader over the cliff of socialism.
Look whose the new Man of the Year...
Again , you have no idea what socialism is. OBama wants to socilize medicine not McCain . Obama wants radical wealth redistribution not McCain. Obama wants to dismantle the military not McCain. there are huge differences between the two.
This has as much meaning as Belinda Carlisle’s support of Hillary.
What did he say?
That was a tempest in a tea pot. There should never been any serious investigation after the initial discoveries. No crime had been committed. Eventually Scooter Libby is convicted of perjury. Thiw BS.
I agree with you on this. I have followed this story closely. Both departments were trying to destroy the administration, and hired Wilson to do that. The complaint about the Plane leak so insignificant not worth looking at, but the CIA leaked it to the press, MSNBC which forced an special investigation.
But even krouthammer admitted that Bush needed to step in and moderate the CIA white house battle that took place behind the scenes. Secondly Bush (unlike Clinton) turned his whole staff over to the mercies on special prosecutor who was throwing reporters in jail till they came out with statements that made Libby look like a liar. No other leak investigation under Bush did this. Worse. Prosecutor was only gunning for white house staff, turns out he couldnt care less who actually did the leaking . He investigated no crime, wasnt trying to, but convinced a DC liberal jury that Libby committed treason when he just wanted a white house head(higher the better). He was hoping putting Libby in jail would force him to accuse Bush and Cheney and Rove, certainly MSNBC kept saying thats what they wanted.
My conclusion (unpopular I know), another botched mess. He gives democrats a target like fish in a barrel.
I agree see #35. But I am still unhappy with Bush. More details on this :

Who cares what this weeble thinks? Yes, he looks like a lumpy, dumpy weeble doll./Just Asking - seoul62.......
McCain is a SOCIALIST when it comes to corporate profits, except his wifes, McCain is a SOCIALIST when it comes to his border policy, McCain is a SOCIALIST on Global Warming, McCain is a SOCIALIST on taxes, remember he opposed the Bush tax cuts), McCain is a low life POS liberal aka socialist.
More evidence that McClellan is a whore.
I would crawl out of my deathbed to vote for McCain, if only to keep Obama and his left-wing cohorts out of the White House.
I believe I owe it to the country.
“I do think Bush Cheney deserve punishment for that Plane /Wilson mess and making it easy for procecuter to hang his people. I feel sorry for McClellan, but not any respect.”
WTF?.....................Get your facts straight!
Below is the last paragraph of the article that is
linked.
The last line of the paragraph is a lie but printed
by the AP anyway and pimped by yahoo....
Richard Armitage of the State Dept and NOT Libby or
Rove has been named the leaker.
The liberal media whores strike again!

Still, Fleischer said it would have been more
“honorable” if McClellan had stepped down, for
instance, after the incident involving the leaking
of CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity to the
news media. McClellan was ordered to say that White
House aides Karl Rove and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby
were not involved in leaking Plame’s identity.
Later, a criminal investigation revealed that they
were.
Well, well, well... didn't take long for Scott "Traitor" McClellan and CBS News to get together.
Hey Scotty! When you get back home us Texas boys have a good ol'fashioned ass whipping to deliver to ya!
Anyone looking for answers of why and when this book is coming out just got it.
“I believe I owe it to the country.”
I believe in my heart that something may happen to show us the way.
But McCain will do a lot of damage to conservatism that will last 50 years. He will be the last republican POTUS.
Although the fact remains that with this election, as with most that have preceded it since 1960, will pull us evermore leftward, the question remains - do we want to kill off the country in one fell swoop (a vote for Obama) or commit suicide on the installment plan (a vote for McCain)?
We still have a chance, however remote, under the second option, so that's where my vote's going.
Bob Barr? As intriguing as he might be, he has less than a snowball's chance in hell, as the press won't cover him except for gaffes committed and dumb things spoken. Until the true Age Of The Internet manifests itself fully, don't waste the time and effort.
CA....
It’s such a sad day for conservatives. BTW: the Air America of cable TV MSNBC spin on McClellan is “How badly will this hurt mCCain” which is their standard code for “Vote for Obama because of McClellan’s revelations on Bush,” and “ WE WERE RIGHT ABOUT BUSH and Iraq and mcCain is Iraq, so vote OBama”
My take : remember when MSNBC LOVED McCain/Mc-maverick for attacking republicans?? AHH so fickle. Theres still RINOs moderates and illegals for mcCain.
McClellan is RINO’s coming home to roost IMHO. He is pro-Obama, so that says it all.
Also Soros is the backer of the company that published his book.
I am a Maverick republican, I am going against everything that McCain tells us to do.
Like vote for McCain.
