Howie Carr thread. btw on Thu., some of Howie's stations like WRKO will have to cut out at 5:30 pm since Thu. night Sox game has been moved up to 6 pm (pre-game show at 5:30...WCRN doesn't carry pre-game though). The Sox (happy 500th HR, Manny!) are moving their game up an hour so it'll be over before Celtics game starts at 9.
Anybody remember the Arte Johnson character on Laugh In that Ruth Buzzi has to whack when he approaches her on the park bench? That’s the first thing I thought of.

built for the mills, I believe; in fact the hockey team
now known as the Lowell Devils, formerly the Lowell
Lock Monsters, had/has a mascot known as The Canaligator.

A guy that lived in Arlington told me that when MA finally got around to allowing right-turn-on-red-after-stop as the default, unless otherwise posted, Arlington posted “no-right-turn-on-red” under every stop sign in town.

Marzilli not seeking re-election
State Sen. James Marzilli said Thursday he would not seek re-election in the fall after his arrest this week on charges that he groped and made lewd comments to two women.
The Arlington Democrat said in a statement that his Statehouse staff “will continue to respond to the needs of constituents within the district” until the end of his term.
Two other Democrats — Arlington Selectman John Hurd and retired firefighter Kenneth Donnelly — already were running for the seat.
Marzilli, 50, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he tried to grab a woman sexually at a park in Lowell, then fled police, and to charges he made lewd remarks to another woman. He is free on $1,500 cash bail and is due back in court July 3.
A spokesman for the Middlesex District Attorney’s office has said they were looking into other possible incidents involving Marzilli.
Marzilli spent 17 years in the House before winning a special election in December to fill a vacant seat in the Senate. His district includes Arlington, Billerica, Burlington and parts of Lexington and Woburn.

My "accident" experience.
I was probably still in college, on the slopes one weekend, a mature woman cried out for help, saying she hurt her ankle. I yelled to my friend to go get the ski patrol, and proceeded to cross her skis and poles as a hazard warning.
She asked me to unbuckle her boot. Leather. That and bindings must have been first generation release bindings.
Any way, a number of other skiers stopped by, and I said somebody went for the ski patrol, yadda, yadda yadda.
The woman said for me to go on, not wanting to ruin my skiing.
I started down the slope, and ran into my friend side-stepping up, getting grief for going the wrong way. He had phoned it in from a lift pole and was coming back to join me.
A couple of runs later, from the lift, we saw the ski patrol sled just starting to move her.
