WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, based on an Associated Press tally of convention delegates, becoming the first black candidate ever to lead his party into a fall campaign for the White House.

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead! Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead. Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed. Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go, Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out. Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low. Let them know The Wicked Witch is dead!
So AP did have it right?
Not so fast my FRiend....
Bummer. I want her to hang on at least until the convention, just to keep stoking the resentments and bitterness between her band of hags and Barack Hussein Obama’s delusional worshippers.
If she really does give up now, there will probably be enough time for the two sides to kiss and make up before November.
This is premature. The house has not fallen on her yet.
Clinton Inc. has been ground into powder.
THE FILTHY WITCH IS DEAD!
THE WICKED WITCH IS DEAD!
No journalistic spin there, no sirree!
Watch what you pray for. At least we know what to expect from Hillary. Now we have a true unknown.
The rats managed to nominate an unelectable candidate.
I think she’s still not going to let Obama have tonite due to her sick sociopathic tendencies.
She’ll keep hanging in until she can get something out of it. Money, position, whatever. The hag.
Ain’t nothing clinched until the delegates have their say at the Convention. How the delegates feel on June 3 2008 means nothing.
Golly, what happend to “Count every vote?”
It really is true that what comes around, goes around.
People have been saying that for some time. They are dead wrong. Obama is a bumbling buffoon, a la Jimmah Carter. Hillary! is the second coming of Adolf Hitler/Joseph Stalin.
Hillary! is ruthless, cunning, vindictive and will do anything to accomplish her agenda.
Take away Obama's speech writers and you have nothing.
No to mention, McCain will sweep away Obama in November.
I see it the other way around. McCain had a chance against Hillary, against Obama? No.
Hitlery would have carried all three, and thus the Presidency.
“Effectively clinching” is not clinching, which requires attaining a prescribed number of pledged delegates. Until the convention the superdelegates are free to change their minds as often as they like.
Ha! So true! I have this vision of Hillary morphing into a huge evil monster form at the convention and zapping people.
Don’t count “The Witch” out since her strategy is to hang herself around Obama’s neck as VP.
Beyond that, Obama’s mother is white so doesn’t that accurately make him “mixed race.”
He may but hasn’t yet secured the nomination. Sloppy reporting but no surprise there.
We will never know for sure, but think McCain has a better chance against Obama.
AP isn't known for being accurate or honest. Keep the champagne on ice for a few hours more...
I hate to lick the red off your candy cane, but the superdelegates don’t actually count until they VOTE at the convention. She can still flip them.
So, Obama finally bought the support of enough super delegates.
Look back to the Bush/Gore election.
Most conservatives and Republicans were gung-ho for Bush then, and Gore was the unlikeable boring one.
Now we have McCain, who is not liked by many conservatives, and we have Obama, who has a huge energized following.
I’ll stick with my opinion (because I think I’m right) :)
There is no way that Philadelphia and Cleveland overcome the margins that McCain is going to run up in the Appalachian portions of those states.
Without Pennsylvania and Ohio, Obama loses.
“I think shes still not going to let Obama have tonite due to her sick sociopathic tendencies.”
But she is right. the so-called “pledged” superdelegates are not really so bound.
BTW, how do we know they are “pledged” - and how strongly?
+ “youth vote”
Exactly right. What I find ironic is that whole concept of the superdelegate is to make sure that the Democrats have the capabality -- right up to the last minute! -- of changing their mind and saving themselves from a candidate who has suddenly become unelectable.
The DNC understands the purpose of the superdelegates.
The media understands the purpose of the superdelegates.
But it suits their purpose (today) to slap their hands together and say "Game Over!"
But they know it's not.
Great. Now we get stuck with Michelle Obama. I’m expecting her to out-witch the wicked witch Hitlery.
You're right, we won't. One thing we do know for sure - this is going to be one interesting Presidential race!
That is GREAT! LOL!!!!
She's still out there!
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I don’t think Hillary has any intention of conceding the race at this point. All signs point to Democrats within the media waging a campaign against her, IMHO.
What we are witnessing is the true “power” of the media and those within it who are using this power to influence our elections. We may be excited because no-one here really likes Hillary - however, you MUST keep the following in mind - what happens when they start doing this to REPUBLICANS? (Like they haven’t already.)
As I said long ago, the Clintons have to be the bride at every funeral, and the corpse at every wedding.
Shell keep hanging in until she can get something out of it. Money, position, whatever. The hag.
She's desperate to hang on to her White House dreams, because that's all she's ever lived for.
LOL. Jennifer Flowers could be the flower girl!
From what I understand, they can change their vote right up until they cast votes at the convention.
Your forgetting...that is what bothers so many of these posters, they hate McCain, want him to lose, wanted to vote for hillary to help make it happen.
