SANTA ROSA - Border Patrol officials picked up a group of nine illegal immigrants from China early Tuesday in Santa Rosa, officials said.

"It was first thing in the morning somewhere around 7 a.m.," Border Patrol Public Affairs Officer Daniel Doty said.

The office of Precinct 7 Constable Cesar Diaz received a report of suspicious persons on Pomelo Road south of FM 107 East in Santa Rosa, according to a news release Diaz.

The group was near a vacant barn and scattered as officials approached them, the news release states.

Officials from the Precinct 7 Constable's Office, the Cameron County Sheriff's Department and the Primera, Combes, Palm Valley and Santa Rosa police departments detained the group, the news release states.

"The Cameron County Sheriff's Department called the Border Patrol and said they had come across a group of nine people just at the side of the road in Santa Rosa," the release states

Officials determined they were Chinese nationals and were in the country illegally, Doty said.

There were six men and three women, in their early twenties, and none required medical attention, Doty said.

The group was transferred to the Border Patrol station in Harlingen, where they were being processed for removal, Doty said.

Doty said as of Tuesday, officials had not found a connection between the group picked up Tuesday in Santa Rosa and another group of 17 Chinese immigrants picked up Saturday in La Joya.

"We always try to determine - whether it's a group of Hondurans or Chinese - we try to see if there are common patterns," Doty said. "So far there's no connection between the two."

I refuse to call them “immigrants.” They are are invaders who will eventually dispossess us of our country. They have know business crashing the border and expecting a welcome from America. Communist China certainly doesn’t put up with people they consider illegally entering their country. Amercia shouldn’t either.

“It was first thing in the morning somewhere around 7 a.m.,”

That sounds like the first line of a C&W song.

I’m reading an increasing number of similar stories with each passing day. People need to keep up the pressure on politicians and law enforcement so the illegals continue to feel the heat and realize it is futile to arrive or stay in this country.

I refuse to call them “immigrants.”

The meaning of "immigrant" is somebody who has moved to a new country in order to set up permanent residence.

Thus, the term "immigrant" refers only to legal immigrants.

And the people at issue are NOT "illegal immigrants". Instead, they are "illegal aliens".

The operative word in the definition “usually” or more fully - somebody who has moved to a new country, usually to set up permanent residence. Not always absolute.

To a country: Immigrant
From a country: Emigrant

Nonetheless, "immigrant" connotes legal status.

Thus, "illegal aliens" is a more accurate rendering than "illegal immigrants".

Does anyone know whether or not China takes any of these illegals back? Can we deport them?

Heard that China refuses to take them back. Mexico, apparently, accepted them, so send them there.

Invader:
1. To enter by force in order to conquer or pillage.
2. To encroach or intrude on; violate.
3. To overrun as if by invading; infest.
4. To enter and permeate, especially harmfully.

Covers most of the acts and/or actions of those coming across our border in full violation of our laws, and in complete disregard for our national sovereignty.

Someone tell me how poor Chinese get out of their country, then afford to get to Mexico, then afford to pay a coyote to get here? Maybe China wants them here.

Amercia shouldn’t either.

I agree. Emma Lazarus-quoting ninnies spouting meaningless platitudes notwithstanding.

Yikes. Santa Rosa is only 7 miles from our family farm in the valley.

Loans from organized crime syndicates. Last I heard, the going rate was $30,000. How do they save any money to pay back their loans? They don't rent apartments - they rent bunk bed spaces where the residents are stacked four to a room. They work at Chinese restaurants where they get free food. Ever wonder why Chinese restaurant food is so cheap - for food that looks like it needs a substantial amount of preparation? Illegal immigrants are why.

Why do they pay back their loans? Like I said - the guys holding the markers are triad figures without a lot of scruples. Why risk getting carved up to save a few bucks?

Sorry, but the word “immigrant” like the word “emigrant” is a neutral term (See either OED or Random House Dictionary). The word “alien” connotes non-native or strange. An example:

While all immigrants are likely aliens to native populations not all aliens are immigrants. The behaivior of Californians is “alien” to many of us in the Midwest (while Californians may be strange they are still Americans).
