No shame, no gain - Clinton's speech was abrasive and selfish
The Guardian ^ | June 4th, 2008 | Michael Tomasky

Posted on 06/04/2008 11:09:50 AM PDT by The_Republican

The lead story tonight - my "lede," as we spell it here - should have been about the remarkable fact that a black man has been nominated by a major party to lead a developed Western nation for the first time in the history of the world. A man - in whose lifetime people with his shade of skin were denied the right to vote and to use public accommodations - who is now on the cusp of the presidency. It says something good about America, and I would like to have been able to dwell on it.

But no.

Once again, it's all about Hillary Clinton, who delivered the most abrasive, self-absorbed, selfish, delusional, emasculating and extortionate political speech I've heard in a long time. And I've left out some adjectives, just to be polite.

Here's an interesting point for you. Barack Obama's speech, which featured a long and gracious nod to Clinton toward the beginning, was posted on various websites as early as 8:10pm East coast time. That means that Clinton - who didn't start speaking until 9:31pm, noticeably missing her introductory cue - and her staff had more than an hour to read Obama's speech and see that he was going to be more than kind to her.

But Clinton, who did not post her speech in advance, gave Obama a much briefer and more perfunctory nod. She congratulated him on his well-run campaign, but not on his victory, which is historic and assured. She told her crowd that, though she is now defeated, she "will be making no decisions tonight."

Hillary is the sort of the woman you don't want to take to the dance. The good news out of all this is we won't have a Clinton running the White House again. Operation Chaos accomplished its mission.

Does this boob think their respective speeches were about each being 'nice' to the other? Does he really believe Obama's speech was conciliatory because he's a 'nice guy'?

Naive in the extreme.

I am surprised that 18 million Democrats are still not able to see Klintons for what who they really are - DERANGED NARCISSISTS, to steal a phrase from Jefferey Toobin.

Media keeps saying that Hillary has inspired lots of people too.

Who has Hillary inspired? What’s so insipiring?

What does she have to offer besides her genitals and color of her skin, both of which are accidental, and not an accomplishment. Her entire coalition is based on brand name, old favors like pardoning FALN, genitals and race. She has certainly found a way to mobilize the “against” vote, but to me that doesn’t count as inspiration.

The fact that Obama’s bitter gaffe gave her an opening to portray herself as blue-collar champion did she even find a way to continue the race, or else it would have been over long time ago.

I always thought Femminist were power crazy, but I had no idea, regular women were so deeply entrenched in indentity politics.

Why the surprise at her speech? Hillary probably doesn’t want to be vice-president but has to offer herself in a show of party unity. By presenting the case in such a way to make Obama look weak if he accepts her offer, he will have to decline her gracious offer, lose and she will be the next presumptive challenger to an older President McCain. She appears gracious and conciliatory in unparsed words (in which the Clintons excel) and she is seen supporting the party. If, God forbid, this threatened video comes out between now and August and poisons Obama’s campaign, she is there to pick up the banner and carry on. The Democratic Party is honorable for having chosen Obama as its standard-bearer and would have seen it to the end had not that unfortunate video come out. Now, however, the superdelegate must go with the popular vote and give the nomination to Hillary. Next time, big guy, in the meantime, clean out your closet between now and 2016 and the Democrats will again take a look at you. It’s win-win for Hillary.

Let’s see. Obama says that he was born august 4 1961 in Hawaii. (We don’t absolutely know whether that is true, since he refuses to make his birth record public. WAS he actually born in Hawaii at that date? So he says, but unfortunately he’s a proven liar.)

The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, so I suppose this is technically correct. But I can’t say that I ever heard of separate drinking fountains in Hawaii. And Obama could have voted when he was 3, but there was a small age problem, having little to do with his race.

I sincerely doubt that Obama has ever had to ride in the back of a bus or been persecuted by the Democrats in the KKK. Rather, he has lived a life of remarkable privilege.

Obama winning the nomination is truly historic. For the first time in history, we have a major political party nominating for President a man with virtual no experience and absolutely no knowledge of foreign policy. Obama ain’t black, he’s green.

Exactly!

McCain did the smart thing yesterday to appeal to her supporters (what I have posted numerous time, only I thought Cindy McCain should step up to the plate and steal scorned women).

I don’t think Sarah Palin is all that.......

One of the Maine female Republican Senators, or one of another North Eastern Republican Women, even Christine Todd Whitman would ensure that McCain cruises in White House.

It would also ensure that Coulter-Limbauhg brigades would blow a gasket in their brains, but its either McCain or Hussein.

Time to decide.

Hillary reminds me of a pyscho girl that keeps trying to get you to go out with her. You know what she is, and you keep trying to steer her advances away knowing your dealing with someone unstable. You try to be nice about it because you know the more this continues, the more desperate her attempts will be. But the more you reject her moves on you, the more vicious she gets and then tries to do harm to you.

Hillary might realize that she has no chance to VP, that the only ones pushing for it are she, her groupies, and TH.
Still she manages to damage Barack Hussein Obama, keep herself in the news, and hope for something drastic if she and hubby and unable to knock out Obama.

No idea. Apparently the State of Hawaii will not release birth records without permission, and the Obama campain refused that permission when a reporter asked them. I forget who did the asking, but it seems like a legitimate request.

Possibly he has shown his birth records to the authorities who register candidates for election—or possibly not. I don’t know what the rules are. But the Constitution is certainly clear about the matter.

It could be something else. I have heard that his given birth name was Baraka Hussein Muhammed Obama, and they might want to keep that to themselves—if true.
