Asked about America's best friends in the world, Obama waxed on about NATO and our European allies before looking east to Japan. I'm not a foreign policy expert, but I've been around debates for decades and it was clear that Obama didn't get that this was the Israel question.
He didn't get that people like me, voters and donors, were waiting to hear the word "Israel" in a way that Japanese Americans were not. Japan doesn't live under constant threats; Israel does. Japanese Americans don't worry about Japan's survival in the way Jewish Americans worry about Israel. Obama's answer, in my book, was the biggest mistake of the debate.
Even when prompted by Brian Williams, who followed up by pointing out that Obama had neglected to mention Israel, and reminded him of his comment that "no one had suffered more than the Palestinian people," Obama still didn't get it right.
Sure, he said that Israel is an important ally, but his clarification of his "poor Palestinians" comment only left him further in the hole. His point, he emphasized, was that no one had suffered more than the Palestinian people from the failures in Palestinian leadership.
Thats not exactly how I see it, or how many Jewish Americans see it. I dont think suffering is a contest in which special recognition goes to those who have paid the highest price. The right answer is that there has been plenty of suffering on both sides.

wouldn’t or coudn’t
If this slick-talker is, heaven forbid, elected, he will sell Israel down the river the first chance he gets. He is clearly a Muslim sympathizer.
“His point, he emphasized, was that no one had suffered more than the Palestinian people from the failures in Palestinian leadership.”
Yeah, sure. For someone who is supposedly articulate, he spends a heck of a lot of time restating his position. And his clarifications always just seem to make his position all the more murkier.
I hope the RNC and GOP is keeping track of all this. (Not that they’d know what to do with it.)
And no one suffered more from failures in Nazi leadership than the German people - well, I don't even think that is true, but it just shows where this kind of invidious claim is going to get you. The rest of us are not responsible for the kind of leadership that a country chooses, tolerates, or acquiesces to.
I agree. Part of me wants to say, fine, let Mr. Know-it-all be president, he will find out that he is grossly naive. But unlike Carter, who was naive and inept, Obama entertains ideas that could do us and our allies irreparable harm.
Probably didn’t know.
Oh let’s just put it out on the table, shall we?
He’s a pale black man; that’s considered hip these days. Not TOO black, mind you.....just black enough.
He’s telegenic and can speak from a script well.
Take him off script......he’s a drooling idiot. His record in the Senate, not that anyone gives a s**t, is abyssmal. He had neither sponsored nor co-sponsored ANY significant legislation during his tenure.
He’s the freakin’ Zsa Zsa Gabor of politics......famous for being famous; an empty suit.
He’s also consistently ranked as the most liberal member of the US Senate who had significant Muslim training in his youth; his connections to Islam go far beyond his name.
He’s a moron who wouldn’t have gotten past Iowa if he wasn’t black.
Sometimes..........my own country makes me want to vomit.
The world is too dangerous today to take such a risk!
Boma is where he is also for the vast numbers of voters who are products of Left wing education, MSM and just the
simple surface knowledge with no understanding of the big picture.
Earlier today a couple of Srs. said they don’t agree with McCain re border issues so voting for Obama.
I wanted to go to the nearest wall and hit my head.
I then went into educational mode with them.
I come across so many like that.
I would like to know if the muslim school he attended taught the children that Jews were dirty, murdering apes? May be a dumb question since it seems like they all teach this...
A question for Charles Gibson or George Stephenopolus(sp)....
Good grief once was enough!
Not just your country. The whole world seems to be swooning. Even in Australia they’re carrying on about how historic it is, with quotes from Samantha Power such as “(Obama) himself embodies the change I think the rest of the world is desperate for the US to embark upon”.
It makes me sick.
On the Jim Bohannon Show, both of his guests were thrilled about being alive during this historic moment. The woman tossed in a non sequitur that John McCain looked as though he had aged 25 years since yesterday.
I can understand people being excited about the first major party’s black presidential presumptive candidate. It’s a shame that the measure of this man is being ignored in favor of “First Fever”. America needs the best candidates to choose from, not the most historical.
