WASHINGTON, (AP) -- A Senate bill to cut greenhouse gases and address climate change is heading toward almost certain defeat after nearly a week of stalemate and partisan bickering. Both sides are charging the other with blocking action.
The Associated Press has learned that senators close to the issue privately say there is virtually no chance to get the 60 votes they need to break a Republican filibuster. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has set a vote for noon on Friday. If the vote falls short, he will pull the measure off the floor.

A pity Johnny Mac can’t show the world how his vote would be cast ...
YAY!
Good.
The Senate is by far the most important part of the November elections. The Senate elections and eventual make up may well determine whether the Republic survives. It is up to the Senate to beat amnesty or McAmnesty which, if we get it, pretty much moots the war. It is the makeup of the Senate which will determine whether our presidential choice in November is worth making. So vote for for whomever you will at the top or ignore the top. It is your senatorial vote that counts. A Senate with sufficient anti-amnesty and anti-Kyoto votes makes McCain the better choice in a big way and mutes the damage that Hussein can do.
Glory Hallelujah
[Headline which will appear in some quarters...]
After the poll about how many people don’t want to pay a single cent more for gas, congress better torch that bill beyond recognition.
Good.
greenhouse gases are also caused by plants, trees, sea weed...animals
AND THE SEAS CONTINUE TO RISE...............
... politicians. How much CO2 was released while these asshats argued over the solution to this nonexistent problem, that would do nothing to fix it; if it existed in the first place. Please God save the Republic and gives us gridlock.
Carbon dioxide is essential for the survival of plants, trees seaweed...

Another source of Global Warming
Thank God.
In a filibuster the number of “no” votes are not important since they must have 60 “yes” votes to proceed. It would be a good campaign move to make sure he is there to cast his “no” vote, though.
“It would be a good campaign move to make sure he is there to cast his no vote, though.”
If he would do that, it would be a pleasant surprise.
It is a real shame that McCain is on the wrong side of this issue. He could really beat the democrats up with their plan to raise energy costs with the biggest energy tax in the history of the world when gas prices are soaring. Unfortunately, he is in the same boat with them and thus loses a great opportunity to win over voters.
Don’t forget, Hillary is going back to the Senate as a defeated candidate with a full-grown case of the bitchies. Who knows what damage she’s prepared to inflict — on (her) friends and foes alike — over the next four years?
Please FReepmail to be added to the Congress Watch ping list.
(I apologize if you are on the list and don't want to be, or are not on the list and used to be. My computer crashed, and for some reason the program I was using was backed up, but the files didn't restore. I am trying to re-create the list as well as I can. )
They’ll pass it on a non-election year. It’s not dead yet.
He’s a SINO. ;’)
Thanks geo.
We haven’t heard the last of this. If the Democraps pick up enough seats in the November election, they’ll try again, again, and again, until it finally passes. Just like the gun grabbers, they will never go away.
Peee-eeeuuuwwww...I’ll bet that one killed the grass.
Politicalmom has a “Watch the Congress Critters” list.

Nuts, I thought I’d made that private. Oh well.
Great news BUMP!
Anyway, the usual AP socialist, leftwing bias is still there:
As a result, it will be up to the next Congress and President Bush's successor to deal with this most important environmental issue. Both presidential candidates, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain, have promised to pursue mandatory pollution reductions to reduce the risk of climate change.
Har! The AP is pathetic!
