Iraq and the Election

This spring, the Iraqi army routed insurgents in three of their most important urban strongholds. These gains follow the success of the surge in crushing al Qaeda in the Sunni triangle, meaning that we are at last on the verge of winning in Iraq and securing a strategic victory in the Middle East. Question: Is this emerging victory – achieved at a cost of more than 4,000 American lives – something we are prepared to abandon after November?

The good news in Iraq is increasingly undeniable, even to the media. In March, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki ordered Iraqi troops to retake the southern Shiite city of Basra from Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army. After a shaky start, the city has now been liberated from Sadrist goon squads, and it is mostly peaceful. "The presence of the Iraqi army has made people safe, not 100%, but 90%," a Basra barber told the Washington Post. The army is pursuing the Sadrists in their last redoubt, Amarah, while other radicals have followed Moqtada to Iran.

When Mookie is swinging from a rope and the crowd is calling Nouri! Nouri! Nouri! then we will know it is finished. He will not dare to return from persia unless Obama orders the long awaited retreat/abandonment.

Good News.

However all we hear about from the MSM Scum is how corrupt the Government of Iraq is. Compared to what? Our Government?

Both houses of the United States Legislature supports the pork barrel spending which has gone on for almost a century. They vote themselves raises while they think we are not looking.

They have been unable to dedicate serious effort to solve the problems of this country such as a poor public education system, illegal Aliens, border security, high energy costs to the U.S consumer, etc.

How dare the Liberals talk about corruption in Iraq?

This is just a distraction from the real progress going on in Iraq.

this will be the most interesting aspect of the election.

incredibly, obama must be hoping for some terrorist “spectacular” in Iraq that allows him to cloud the issue.

isnt it amazing that the majority party in the US has a candidate whose election prospects hang on defeat by the us armed forces?

blown away by that.
