June 6, 2008: With things quieting down in Iraq (U.S. casualties hit an all-time low in May, 2008), South Africa has regained its position as the most violent country on the planet, with a murder rate of 65 per 100,000 population. The death rate is also high in some other African countries (like Sudan, Somalia and Congo), but those placed don't keep records as effectively as South Africa. The Iraqi rate is now running at about 48 per 100,000. The Afghanistan rate is about 15. India, another area with lots of terrorism (and half of it is from communist and tribal rebels) the murder rate is about four per 100,000. That's about the same as most European nations, and half the U.S. rate. But the Western Hemisphere has always had a higher homicide rate than the Old World. No one is quite sure why.
Think they left out Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
Per second? Per hour? Per day? Month? Year? I would think time has something to do with the statistic.
Id like to know what the rate, specifically, is for Baltimore, Detroit, LA, Miami, NYC, etc...
Interracial war is not a concern of moonbats.
Try finding prision statisics based on gender, race, and religion.
I did this simple calculation basis recent news I have been seeing recently:
Washington DC averages about 15 murders per month (72 to May 30), population 588,000. Monthly Murder rate 1 : 39,2000
Iraq had 532 murders/killings last month (including Iraq Army) - population 27.5 million. Monthly Murder rate 1 : 51,691
It seems one is now safer on the streets of Iraq than in Washington DC.
Some blogger made this observation about 6 months ago. (I remember reading the blog, but unfortunately can’t remember which one it was.)

Don't want to poop all over your parade but including the rural areas is disingenuous. Rural areas are always more peaceful than urban hellholes. Now, comparing Baghdad to DC? I'd be really curious about those statistics.
I thought New Orleans would be the winner and Killadelphia
as a close second?
