Edwards: number 2, not so much

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW By Salena Zito The AP is reporting that John Edwards said while traveling in Spain that a run for vice president for him won't be happening:

"I already had the privilege of running for vice president in 2004, and I won't do it again," Edwards was quoted by Spanish newspaper El Mundo, as saying. Other leading daily newspapers carried similar comments.

Edwards, a former presidential candidate himself in both 2004 and 2008, ran for vice president under Sen. John Kerry four years ago. Edwards threw his support behind Sen. Barack Obama late in the contest between Sen. Hillary Clinton and the Illinois senator; his pledged delegates were part of the group of delegates that helped clinch the nomination for Obama on Tuesday.

‘Translation’ from the Espana paper:

“Serve under Jimmy Carter II? That’d make ME Mondale II and I’ve seen how that plays out when you try to make a run for the presidency...”

His wife,Elizabeth, does have incurable (possibly terminal) cancer.

Maybe she’s worse off than we know and he doesn’t want to go thru the campaigning?

Edwards has to be the most over rated politician in America. For all his so called mass appeal, he managed to win ZERO primaries, and he only won 1 in 2004 as I recall. He and Kerry didn’t even come close to carrying NC in 2004 so I think Obama might as well not even consider him.

He’ll be a perpetual Sunday morning and election night “guest”. Why he “ran for the presidency and was a VP nomineee”.

He ended the campaign 6 months ago.

I dunno. Maybe, just maybe her health has declined significantly?

He already helped them lose one election. His comments speak of his continued arrogance trying to pretend he is turning Mr. Obama down when the reverse is most likely true.

Edwards will be no help to Obama in the South, but a recent poll showed he was helpful to him in Missouri where Obama scored higher than McCain only with Edwards on the hypothetical ticket.
