Color Test : Where Whites Draw the Line

How black is too black?

Millions of African-Americans celebrated Barack Obama’s historic victory, seeing in it a reflection — sudden and shocking — of their own expanded horizons. But whether Mr. Obama captures the White House in November will depend on how he is seen by white Americans. Indeed, some people argue that one of the reasons Mr. Obama was able to defeat Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was that a large number of white voters saw him as “postracial.”

In other words, Mr. Obama was black, but not too black.

But where is the line? Does it change over time? And if it is definable, then how black can Mr. Obama be before he alienates white voters? Or, to pose the question more cynically, how black do the Republicans have to make him to win?

You know that, and I know that. And we both know that if he loses because the American people finally figure that out, and vote appropriately, the media will report it as “white America is RACIST!”

Excuse me while I vomit.

They can't get it through their head that people fear Obama because he's a Marxist, not because he's black(ish). Why is that? Oh yeah, they're Marxists.

It’s irrelevant. Expect a steady stream of racism accusations. It doesn’t matter. Every one of the significant people or mentors in Obama’s life was an extreme leftist. Obama is in that mold. He is, first and foremost, a leftist.

Social observers say a common hallmark of African-Americans who have achieved the greatest success, whether in business, entertainment or politics — Oprah Winfrey, Magic Johnson and Mr. Obama — is that they do not convey a sense of black grievance.

What are these guys smoking?

If , If B. Hussein doesn't disply Black Grievance, His wife and his pastors sure do!

B. Hussein has built his career on “Black Grievance.” He knows how to exploit it, how to marshal it to his purposes, and when to discuss it and when not.

This is why a privileged, half-white, half Arab/African Muslim, product of fine schools does everything possible to make himself seem like one of the home boys and thus heir to the Great Black Grievance. Because the latter is heavily supported by white liberals, he’s been able to get pretty far with it.

The question is whether the politics of black grievance will have any support from people other than blacks and white ultra-liberals.

Race is one of the most "contentious issues" because DEMOCRATS have made it an industry, with a revenue stream for their political business. Too bad....since they are such racists.

Or, to pose the question more cynically, how black do the Republicans have to make him to win?

Get ready for a never ending stream of this kind of bilge from the racists of the American Left in the run-up to November, and in the aftermath, whether their anointed candidate wins or loses.

Implicit in the question is that most American voters are racists. Explicit is the claim that Republicans would actually be capable of exploiting that bigotry. Both are false.

In the first place, the Republicans are going to stay so far from issue of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Middle-Named's race that they're going to fall all over each other praising the wonderfulness of the opportunity to have an African-American in the race without actually mentioning that he's black. In the second place, even their fawning praise is going too be taken as yet another indication of their racism: "See? See? they're pointing out that he's black all over again! Subtle Racism, the worst kind!" In the third place even the most glancing blow on the driest statistic in the world is going to called a racist attack if it blemishes The Anointed One. And finally, the tsk-tsking of morons like the writer of the instant piece is going to be the background accusation against which far too many Americans wallowing in white guilt will find themselves driven, yet again, to make amends.

All we can do is refuse the confessional of white self-flagellation. The man behind the screen will demand your wallet and call you ugly names, but all your admissions of sin are in vain: you will never be forgiven in that booth. Don't even bother to try.

By the way, while the left is trying their best to make the typical white person look like a racist, has any of the MSM ask Mr. Obama how he feels about reparations? I don't think he has been ask that very touchy question.

The "race" issue is a great cover for installing a communist. Don't support Obama? You must be a closet racist. If Obama loses in November despite polling well, the media will take it as evidence that people are secretly racist, only acting upon their racism when behind the voting curtain, and lying to everyone else before and afterward. On the other hand, a victory for Obama will be viewed as evidence of "racial transcendence" and support of his political views (not just the meaningless platitudes he mouths during his prepared speeches).

It should have been ABUNDANTLY clear where the media stands on "race" after the Rodney King episode (where the MSM edited the video and failed to report all publicly available trial evidence, in order to incite riots, build new$ coverage, and push their agenda). The MSM has a template for all news stories, and all coverage must mesh with the convenient fiction. Black people (or any other minority) involved? OK, get out the template of Perpetual Victimhood, with white capitalists/Republicans/corporations/authorities playing the racist guilty party. If Obama loses, it will be all about voter ID requirements "keeping minorities from voting", hidden white racism, Republican dirty tricks, "swiftboating", etc etc etc.

Want to see real racism? Pay attention to the language used by the left to denigrate Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Janice Rogers Brown, Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell, Michael Steele, J. C. Watts, and even Condi Rice. They call them "race traitors", "uncle Toms", "Oreo", "Aunt Jemima", or "Quisling". When Nazis, skinheads, kkk, etc use such language (i.e. "race traitor"), it is rightfully labeled as racist and disavowed by decent folk, plus the MSM. Not so much the latter when the characters are interchanged.

I’m sick of “black grievance”. Grew up with that crap, all I ever saw it being was an excuse to sit on their butts and gripe.

Now it’s a national past time. We DO NOT NEED a part black or black of Obama’s stripe in the White House.

Agreed. Throw it on the pile with "gravitas."

Leftists are such idiots, it's maddening.

I remember when they used "gravitas" the first time during one of the Bush elections, and Rush played clips of almost every national news outlet using the word within a 24 hour period after the first dolt used it. Original, they ain't.
