Greetings from hot and sunny Orlando, Florida!
I will not be able to post today, as I am at a conference all week. I am working for Microsoft, and I have to go to a training session in a few minutes. Y’all have fun!
To: Alas Babylon!
Get some sun for me.
It snowed for about 10 minutes the other night.

I got through on cspan this morning — the topic was: What grade would you give the White House Press Corpse (sp intentional). Everyone who called in gave them a rating of F or below (both dems and republicans but for obvious different reasons). I gave the Press Corpse (from FNC to CSPAN) an I for irresponsibility and incompetence. I chastised the host of the show for not EVER reminding the viewers of the statements by Albright and Clinton regarding WMD in Iraq and how they were NO different from the President’s remarks, yet they allow callers to claim the President lied. (Drives me batty). Then I asked why they haven’t bothered to report on the innocence of the Haditha Marines (Scully didn’t even know about the status of the trials) and I told him that they were so quick to trash our troops but hide the fact that they have been vindicated. Scully said he would follow-up on that (doubtful), but it was a lot of fun to vent on the media today.
I also mentioned the fact that Russert had filed a false affidavit in the Libby trial, but that little fact was NEVER reported by the media.
So my overall grade for the media at large was F- and I. One person called in and gave them the grade of Y for Yellow Journalism.
I hope some of you heard the segment, it was a fun one.

Great Job Laverne!
I thought that was you (I heard your call several weeeks ago) and the look on face of the host when you told him he was incompetent and irresponsible for not knowing the status of the Haditha Marines was priceless. It reminded me of a deer caught in the headlights.
He did meekly ask the next caller who said “Bush is a liar”, why he thought so, but didn’t follow up on it.
Keep up the great work. So many of the callers are either badly misinformed or completely wrong, and I’m sure many of the listeners take those incorrect statements as truth. Unfortunately, almost all those statements go unchallenged.

Thanks! I love to call in or email (once they read one of my emails on the air with my REAL name...I sent it from the wrong email address). YIKES.
I thought Scully looked a little embarrased about not knowing the status of the Haditha marines too (but kudo’s to him for answering my question honestly); perhaps I shamed him, but then again....perhaps not.

A Once-In-A-Lifetime Announcement:
I was wrong!
With typical, arrogant, certitude I boldly promised that Hillary Clinton WOULD be the Democrat nominee for President.
But, alas, events have undone my prediction.
Thus, I now fall apologetically prostrate before this august forum, worthy only of your scorn and derision, the Rick Dutrow of political prognostication, if you will.
{Unless, of course, Anthony Pelicano convinces Barrack to abdicate the nomination in favor of Mrs. Clinton, in which case I will deny ever having written this and instead pompously rant, “I told you so!”}

Good morning, All! And excellent work, Laverne! Speaking of the media, did you kids hear that wonder boy Barry "instructed" them the other day? Oh, and he also arrogantly declared he will be president in 2016...
RUSH: In the Washington Post, in a story on Obama meets with Clinton, listen to this by Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray: "Obama said he 'appreciated very much' the statement, and he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation about possible running mates. He said he will neither discuss the selection process nor parade prospects in public," as McCain has. He instructed the media. Oh, fine. I love people that talk tough with the media, don't misunderstand. But who else but Obama could get away with instructing them? They write here, "they have been instructed." He knows they will follow his demand. Can you imagine McCain instructing the media to not cover certain things and them going along with it? Here's what Obama actually said to them that led to this report, Obama instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation.
OBAMA: The next time you hear from me about the vice presidential selection process will be when I have selected a vice president, and if you hear secondhand accounts, rumors, gossip about the selection process, you can take it from me that it is wrong, because we're not going to be talking about it in the press.
RUSH: We're not going to be talking about it. So he didn't use the word instruct, but from that little statement, Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray said, "and then he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation." So they wrote it up. He didn't even say it; they just took it that way. He admonished the media, and the media doesn't want to be embarrassed, the media does not want to disappoint the messiah, Obama. The other bite, this is just this afternoon in Chicago, 2016 US Olympic pep rally with athletes. This is what Obama said. I think he thinks he's elected already.
OBAMA: In 2016, I'll be wrapping up my second term as president. (cheers and applause)
RUSH: Did you hear any humor in that? Didn't sound like there was any humor in that. "In 2016 I'll be wrapping up my second term."

Cedric, Cedric, Cedric...have you not seen my posts? Pick yourself up my friend and stand tall! I, too, believe with my whole heart that Mrs. Clinton WILL be the nominee. I predicted last summer when McCain was down and almost out that he'd be our nominee...and voila’! The next few months will be fabulously entertaining as Mrs. Clinton does everything in her power to swipe the crown from wonder boy Barry's head. And when she does, America will be sooooooooo sick of Clinton Inc.—and the Drive-Bys will run for their lives! Stay tuned. ;)

Not this morning, we have rain. It is 20% chancing right now out on the deck.
Latest is there are something like 8 or 9 groups who have disassociated themselves with Recreate 68 because they are afraid of them being too radical. (Who knew?!?!) And we are thankful for all the money coming in from New Orleans to help pay for it all. I guess the New Orleans/Katrina funds have more money than they need, huh.

Barry really didn't win fair and square if you think of the whole Dem fiasco with Michigan and Florida and then the Super Ds in place to "select" the right candidate. Even Rush thinks she's got something up her sleeve...
RUSH:...She's going to ask to hold onto her delegates for now. She's going to hold -- folks, she thinks something's going to drop out there. I'm telling you, the only reason to do this -- well, she may still be angling for veep, but it's amazing how many Democrats don't want her or Bill anywhere near that. No, no, no, no. Now they're talking about Kathleen Sebelius and some other babe, I forget who. Oh, yeah. Janet Napolitano. Any woman but Hillary. So she's going to hold onto her delegates. She thinks something's about to drop or will drop or something is going to happen.
