But as an individual, try taking out a specific ad against a federal candidate within 60 days of a federal election and afterward contemplate the size of the fine you're slapped with and how much jail time you can plead away.
You'll need deep pockets and lots of billable lawyer hours to practice those "rights".
I fear you missed my point. It is perfectly legal, i.e. not against the law, to openly carry a handgun in many areas where it is not commonly practiced. If you run the ad as you state, you have broken a law. Of course it’s an unconstitutional law, but it is a law.
If people don’t want to practice a right that is perfectly legal to exercise out of some misguided fear that they’re breaking some sort of taboo, that is their prerogative. Silly, but that’s their right.
