Is Obama's candidacy even constitutional?
WorldNetDaily ^ | 10 June 2008

Bloggers are raising questions about Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's qualifications to be U.S. president, because of the secrecy over his birth certificate and the requirement presidents be "natural-born" U.S. citizens.

Jim Geraghty, reporting on the Campaign Spot, cited the "unlikely" but still circulating rumor that Obama was born not within the United States, but elsewhere, possibly Kenya.

“Even if born in Kenya, he qualifites because of his American-citizen mother.”

Dems challenged McCain’s status because he was born while his father was stationed off American soil. They said the rules were that he had to be born on American soil.

You are correct. I have a child born outside the US, and I had to have her registered at the American Embassy.

At the time that Obama was born, there was no such provision, and if one of the parents was NOT a US citizen and the child was born outside of US jurisdiction, then the child would have to go through the naturalizaton process.

Quite honestly, I see no reason to believe that Obama was not born in the US, so I think this is a false issue.

had McCains mother been out and about in Panama, went into labor, and he was born in a Panamainian hospital instead of on the military base, he would be ineligible to run for President.

All he needed was a certificate from the nearest US Consulate that he was born to TWO United States Citizens and he would still be Native born.

The laws for illegitimate children or children of a single US parent, are different then for those that are born to two US citizens joined in wedlock.

It's a great debate and really eyeopening to those that wish to explore the roots of citizenship.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing for some people.

You’re absolutely correct - this is an utter and complete waste of time/bandwidth and will go absolutely no where.

I agree. This is a bunch of smoke blowing, and if this is all we have to defeat him, just have Cheney resign, Bush appoint him VP, and then Bush resign and inaugurate him now.

Until someone produces actual, hard evidence that points to his being born elsewhere, this rumor mongering should stop.

What I don’t understand is why he won’t release such a basic document as a birth certificate.

BC lists ethnicity/race of father and Obama would have to explain why his Kenyan father called himself "Arab" instead of "Negro." Muslim Kenyans, although black in color, thought themselves better than the negros and were often slavers.

The key factor is that BOTH your parents must be US citizens.

I think this is a false alarm with BO, as I don't think his 18 year old mother would have flown to Kenya in the early 1960s to give birth, away from her own family.

BO’s grandfather was a convert to Islam - would that rule still apply?

If he was born in Hawaii, even if BO’s old man wanted it there, I’d be willing to bet there was no place to PUT religion on a Hawaii birth certificate.

I’m still leaning towards it saying that BO is White or perhaps that his father is Arab.

Actually, the law at the time suggests otherwise.

His mother was 18 at the time, and there’s a time in the US issue. He may not, technically, be legally US by birth, even if his mother was a US Cit. . .

Unless some unlikely proof comes up to the contrary, it is pretty clear that he is a natrual born citizen of the US, that he is over 35 years of age, and that he has been a resident in the US for over 14 years. Therefore, by the constitution itself he is qualified to run.

But that does not mean he would be in the least good for America.

His associations and positions, and his own words show that Barack Hussein Obama is the apex of the hate-America, domestic enemy in this country. His election as president would be the greatest coup any enemy has ever scored against this country and could easily lead to the worst, horrific disaster in our nation's history.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

This is not true. I was born in Canada to an American-citizen mother. I had to go through the naturalization process. I was NOT considered American-born.
