House waves off impeachment measure against Bush

The House has voted to send articles of impeachment against President Bush to a committee that is not likely to hold hearings before the end of his term.
By 251-166, House members dispatched the measure to a committee on Wednesday a procedure often used to kill legislation.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi long ago declared the prospects for impeachment proceedings "off the table."
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, who ran for president earlier this year, insists that his resolution deserves more consideration. He spent more than four hours Monday night reading his 35 articles of impeachment into the record, including charges that Bush manufactured a false case for going to war against Iraq.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Tuesday that the Democratic-led Congress was holding the Bush administration accountable and questioned spending time on impeachment in the "waning months of this administration's tenure."
An election looms in which every House seat, a third of those in the Senate and the presidency are up for grabs. House leaders are staunchly against spending the remaining time in the abbreviated legislative schedule on impeachment proceedings.

These types of nonsense need to be stopped before they get to the floor the same way the higher courts decide if a case is worthy of their time. This is obviously a waste of time, although all those who voted for the impeachment measure should be held accountable.

Actually, you probably want the name of the 166 who voted AGAINST sending it to committee.
The 251 voted to kill it.

So the purpose of this is to stifle the Cindy Sheehan radical Leftists who campaign against the Democrats who are trying to keep a low profile on their true agenda.
BUT the Democrats will still make reference to the “impending” impeachment of Boosh and the “culture of corruption” of the “Boosh” administration. Count on it.
It is a Communist showtrial. A partisan witchhunt. And an abuse of the process.
Same as they used to oust Tom DeLay. His case still has not been brought to trial by the prosecutor. But you can see how a “scandal” like that would keep him from being effective in congressional leadership.

The vote was on a motion to move the articles from the floor to Conyers’ judiciary committee.
“Democratic aides widely suggested those gauging the bill’s prospects look to a precedent: the impeachment articles against Vice President Dick Cheney, which were sent to Conyers’ committee in November. There’s no evidence they will be considered before the Bush administration leaves office in January.
Those were Kucinich’s, too. Republicans, seeing a chance to force Democrats into an embarrassing debate, voted to bring up the resolution. Democrats countered by pushing through a motion to scuttle the bill from the floor.”

This is just political posturing to placate the more rabid Bush-haters and pretend that they are
really sticking it to the Bush administration when, in fact, this congress has done almost nothing they so fervently promised to do in regards to the Iraq war and other issues. The congress critters know the lefties really have nowhere else to go in November except to vote for the Democrats but probably assume that some cost-free sniping at President Bush can't hurt.
The Kucinich list of alleged 'crimes' by the Bush administration will be used as talking points for Obama and Democrat congressional candidates in the upcoming election. Frankly, the Bush-hatred on the left is so pervasive that I'm not surprised just about all the Democrats voted for it. It's telling that the congressional Democrats pretend to want to impeach Bush for all his alleged 'crimes' but shy away from ever going through with it by purposely sending these bills to a committee graveyard. Totally phonies.
Of course, they know full well that President Bush and his administration haven't committed any crimes, much less, impeachable offenses. This is all BS for PR purposes. That's why nothing ever comes of these lame attempts to impeach the president. They are mostly an attempt at 'payback' for the actual impeachment (but not conviction) of Bill Clinton under a Republican-controlled congress and because the leftist Democrats don't agree with his policies and think he is somehow not worthy of his elected office.
What the congressional leftists don't grasp is that, while President Bush's job approval numbers are admittedly low, most Americans do not hate the president or think he is a criminal, as the lefties want them to believe. They know better. That reality and the fact that the Democrats haven't a shred of real evidence to support their dopey impeachment bills, makes this absurd Kucinich impeachment try yet another mockery of the congress great patriots like Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams once graced with their presence. I'm grateful they cannot see what that once-great body has devolved into. Anti-American leftists trying to destroy the foundations of this nation with socialist-based laws and time-wasting four-hour speeches given by idiot congressmen reading their list of false accusations masquerading as a bill of impeachment that will go into the congressional committee dumpster upon receipt.
Sadly, this is what we've come to, and I fear that after November 4th, it will only get worse. Well, if the American people want socialism and the hard-left shenanigans that will results from a Democrat victory at the polls, they'll get it, to paraphrase H.L. Mencken: good and hard. Unfortunately, so will the rest of us.

Just for fun, here are the
35 counts (courtesy of Congressman Kucinich. If you read them, you quickly see it as an unserious piece of legislation, judging by the shotgun blast of charges: Katrina failures, destroying medicare, undermining efforts to address global warming, etc. Obviously it was moved into the hopper to throw a little red meat to the moonbat constituency.

Democrats are angry that Clinton was impeached. They are determined to revenge that, even if they have to criminalize a president who protected our country since 9/11. As I said at that long ago time, impeachment was the wrong course, and it has led to so much latent anger! Clinton should have been censured and the country should have moved on. Of course, if Clinton had any character at all, he would have resigned, but we know well what the Clintons were and are!
